Thanks for having me! It was a lot of fun. I'm still very confused as to why Mercival is even a pick in the game 🤣

I haven't played WG in months and I randomly decide to look for a tier list and this was uploaded not even an hour ago, what are the odds

    Awesome vid. I enjoyed it.
Yeah, no doubt Emeric is still Top Tier. In most games characters/classes that have superb defence in combination with being able to "shove it in your face" and force you to attack them, will be very strong. If they attack you they lose - if they ignore you they lose. It's a bit like camping an objective

This feels a little easier to guess than card games because you don't have to blindly guess about the existence of combos as much. Obviously a deep and complex game for other reasons, but the cards version of this stream format is very different.

Sigrid is low tier until you find someone who knows how to use her. Having an invulnerable one turn blocker you can just *put* somewhere is insane on certain maps and in certain situations. IMO she does need a small buff though since anyone who isn't cracked with her will struggle. Maybe her super frightens anything within 1 tile of the eaten unit and those units can move but not attack next turn. It would fit with her theme too.

Sigrid is low tier because she needs a base/stronghold race map to be viable. If she cant threaten an important property or force out a golem/dragon to deal with her, sigrid is like the easiest thing in the world to ignore cuz the counterplay of “dont put dudes near co” is something that is universal to every co, so her groove barely forces concessions in gameplay.
Being invulnerable honestly isnt that big of a deal cuz you can just kill her army or ignore her. Sigrid needs a very dynamic gamestate to do things cuz if the game stalls, she cant do anything in army vs army and other grooves outscale hers.

@@xtimekey2894 I totally get that. The game knowledge needed to really ensure you're pressuring correctly and herding the opponent to really make use of her is insanely difficult. I have a buddy who is insane with her. Like I consider myself pretty good at the game but I don't think he's ever lost against anyone in my friend group with Sigrid.
He does basically everything you mentioned but I brought up the invulnerability thing since... I guess he can just eyeball the enemy units and know exactly how they attack and move at a glance because he will even ignore big units to put an invulnerable Sigrid in a very disruptive spot in order to maintain momentum. He just has an eye for doing that I guess? I wish I could describe it better. It feels like one of those moments where you're sure some sort of sorcery has happened because "Why did that work? How did I lose? WHEN did you turn that around?"
He's also fantastic with other commanders who have oppressive/threatening grooves like Romb.
I also understand he's an exception to the norm but he's left me paranoid whenever I see I'm fighting a Sigrid. It's like "Are you playing her because you're insanely good with her or do you just like her theme song?" Because lord knows her theme song is why I enjoy picking her from time to time lol
Edit: I forgot to mention he'll do this regardless of victory condition too and it seems to work on most maps.

@@AgentSapphire Sounds like your friend is good at creating walls that you have a hard time breaking and that allows them to take aggressive positions. If you or your friend are interested, come join the Wargroove 2 server. We'd love to play games with you. Also, I agree to vibing to A Feast of Blood, I love listening to this game's soundtrack.

@@sparkydl289 Oh my god he is so good. I wish I could learn his secrets but I don't have the same eye for the game as he does.
As for a server I might join one. Is it a discord thing or something? I can't speak for my friend but I'll extend the invitation. He's one of those guys who works like 12 hours a day now and spends most of his off time with his wife with occasional days set aside for his friends.

Sounds like the Austria effect in diplomacy-austria usually does well in late game, but it takes a very good player to get to late with Austria.
