I must say that for Kalmia Latifolia to be Pa's "State Flower", it can be VERY hard for your average Pennsylvanian to ever even grow a Mountain Laurel shrub in their own yards. PLUS, I will mention that, the Pa state tree the "Eastern hemlock", I have FAILED at least 3 times to keep one alive in my own yard here in eastern PA. I HAVE managed to keep a Kalmia Latifolia Mountain laurel alive though for 2-3 years, BUT, we recently had a storm and now my Kalmia is just GONE. I have been able to order 2 more of the native Kalmia though. This storm had just sucked some REALLY big trees out of the ground. I am going to have to make damn sure that I protect my new kalmia shrubs in some way so that they can't be blown away in a storm since it is possible that now, storms could become more often with climate change. I am still kinda wondering just HOW that my Kalmia had just been blown away in a storm. I am kinda wondering IF somebody stole it, BUT, I guess that is just a paranoid thought. Yeah, I know that is stupid to think that somebody stole my shrub from the front of my house, so, I must just replant the new ones I get that I ordered, ,and move on. Anyway, happy gardening to everyone reading this.
I agree with the previous comment. Full description of biology. Helped me to find out that spots and loosing last year leaves are not the symptoms of any disease. In Poland where I live there is not enough information about, so thank you very much
Thank you so much! Great info!
