The Quran is often misunderstood and misinterpreted by some Muslims and Non-Muslim and many verses are misquoted. No matter what was done against you, if you forgive and leave those affairs to Allah (SWT), it is better for you and Allah (SWT) will reward you, don't worry! It is easy to hurt someone, but it is far better to love and follow the guidance of Allah (SWT) and all his Prophets (PBUT), and his last Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). In the Quran, Allah (SWT) teaches love and not hate. The same goes for Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) teachings. Thank you Dr. Shabir Ally for your explanation filled with wisdom.

But prostitutes don't become prostitutes because they like it, they become prostitutes because they need to. Why would we punish them with house arrest or corporal punishment, instead of helping them meaningfully? The clients are those who should be punished for taking advantage of poor vulnerable women.

I like the reform attempt and hope it continues but it's kind of sophomoric to think that for 1400 years all Muslim scholars and communities got the understanding of this verse wrong but this one man in Canada (who would ridicule such teachings) got it right. It's better to admit what the Quran is teaching (to physically discipline wives if need be) and say that we are better than that teaching so we'll reinterpret this verse. All and all I'm happy that Islam is starting to reform. It's about time.

But why has a woman listen to her husband? Where do they talk about what should the woman do when the husband doesn't listen to her?

why do so many translations still use the word husbands then? wives are also used. Maybe it's time for a better translation?

But still this question is still haunting me! Why even put to touch her in any kind of way. And that would be for all generations not only the old… this the one thing I can’t swallow and makes me question…. Because I don’t feel like God belittles the woman to the point that if she doesn’t listen to him, he can beat her as the last solution…. I just don’t feel it comes from God Almighty!

But again in the Quran it says: "And live with them (the woman) in kindness" (

i dont understand why the Quran would need specificity on it saying “Husbands” & “wives” even when you take out husband & wife isn’t it speaking “in general” ?? like regardless of if it says husband or doesnt, it says women.

Verse 4:34 is crystal clear in what is says. DO we need explanations to lessen it's severity?

It "if you fear dissencion between the two send an arbitrator". This clearly shows that the only time you send an arbitrator is in times when there is a wrong judgement. (Example; when a man beats an "innocent" wife)
