What just makes it beautiful is that he doesn't stop when he passes by his own bodies. He only stops when he sees Emilia's one. Such a great opening. Then seeing him running again and again, despite dying and suffering, to get a better future, is just great.

It's always boggled me how in these isekai series, the protagonist never seems to think about their former lives and the families they left behind and how they must be grieving. They're just quick to move on and never seem to dwell on it. That's honestly what makes seeing flashes of Subaru's parents all the more impactful as it shows that despite embracing his new life, deep down, he still dearly misses them
I always thought about how Subaru was 17 and probably was still living with his parents, so I like how the OP gives us our first look at to what they look like. I hope they end up showing more of Subaru's backstory as we really only know him after he gets transported.

Let's just say Re:ZERO doesn't fall in that category of "most isekai" and actually treats its subject matter with care.
You will learn how much Subaru thinks of his family, in this season.
To be fair in a lot of isekai series, authors don't want to deal with this and just make the protagonist someone who doesn't mind being isekaied or they are being reincarnated so nobody wonders what happened to them as they are dead in original world.

The people who created the Re:ZERO (the anime) are the greatest people in the world. They care more for our entertainment. Some of the episodes are 28 minutes, with no time wasted for openings or endings. The ending still plays as background music for people who like listening to it, and sometimes the opening plays as well. We get 28 entire minutes for anime without any interruptions. That scores tons of points in my book :)

And people with this divine protection go crazy from it really easily but Otto still maintained his sanity untill teh White Whale appears a creature that has an ability to use it's voice to make people go crazy and Otto someone extremely sensitive to it goes crazy and pushes off Subaru but after getting out of range of the Whale regains sanity and tells his dragon to go help Subaru

Seriously, you gotta have mad respect for Subaru. The dude's been through the most traumatic tragedies of his life. Not only has he died countless times, but he's also had to see people that he love and hold dear to his heart die countless times as well. And yet, he continues to press forward in hopes of a bright future where he can be with all of his loved ones. Any other person would have gone completely insane from the experiences that Subaru has gone through. I don't care what nobody say. Subaru is one of my favorite anime protagonist because of this

He technically is overpowered, but not in terms of strength
He's overpowered in terms of his mental state, Subaru is willing to go through suffering to alter an outcome
Actually, Subaru is probably one of the most overpowered characters in anime. He literally cannot die and gets to make as many mistakes as possible to find the best outcome. The only limit to this power is his own mental state, but what is more powerful than an opponent who can predict your every move all the while never comprehending just how screwed you are, the only opponent who you can't defeat by killing and in fact just makes him stronger and more prepared if you do, and you would never know because not even he can tell anybody, even if he wanted to.
I love how each Opening change in Subaru's journey.
On the first one, he's just a terrified boy.
On the second one, He's broken. Depressed and devatated, but ultimately regains the strenght to carry on.
And now, he marches onwards, unrelenting in his resolve to protect those he loves. No matter how many of his lives might cost him.
Dude doesn't just march. As soon as he sees the way forward, he freaking charges for it. I forgot how much I missed this series.

@@TheGuyWhoCantPickAName Well, that's what the second half of Season 1 was about: Subaru realizing that while he may have friends and loved ones, he's the only one who experiences Return By Death, and he can't expect others to understand what he's going through.
Fortunately, he's kind of moved on, and is a bit better for it. Minus the whole "Who's Rem?" bit, of course.

Yep, but there are worser deaths, still very disturbing.
The 8 bits Games are awesome Subaru gets some pretty terrible deaths later on but the bunny death is still his most physically gruesome and painful death.

I love the little montage of Subaru's past deaths leading to the moment of pain seeing his friends dead. Really helps remind me just how much he's been through and how far he's come even if the path ahead seems bleak.

@Dude 101 - Subaru has given up his pride multiple times, I think it’s safe to say he is NOT the Archbishop of Pride. The closest he’s come to succumbing to a sin was Sloth, when he tries to run away with Rem.
Subaru is by far my favorite character in anime. He is flawed, completely and utterly flawed, but he is also many other things.
He is selfish, but he is also selfless. He is prideful of Emilia, but not of himself. He shows sloth, but has one of the strongest wills I have ever seen.
Subaru is amazing, fight me.
@GT Every act Subaru does is out of selfishness, including his attempts at saving others. It's hard to see in an anime because you don't get inner monologues for actions like you do reading a novel

I forgot where I heard this but the author said himself one of the main themes of the series is to take the idea of never giving up and turning that into a weapon and this opening captures that theme perfectly.

Tender & Moisturized yeah the start of Arc 4 is changed a lot in the Light Novel and honestly as a WN reader the now official version of it seems kinda underwhelming compared to the Web novel version but it’s clear that Tappei had to cut some corners to fit the story into the 200-300 page Per volume limit, especially Fredirica and Garfiel’s introductions, in the Web Novel they were way more badass but Fredirica now is just “Oh hi I’m a maid that works here”
The death that I liked the most was when he returned to the mansion to find a storm that turnd everything in to ice and being told that it was all his fault.
