Got a flat bar gravel, similar set up, but used riser bars and cut them super narrow so can stay upright but also gain some aero savings, it's fun and fast
Have you ever been truly professionally bike fit? I had some back pain from too low of stack and short of a reach. Now that I am fit, I have had zero pain or discomfort. Worth looking into at least 1x IMO. It will give you a baseline for ideal comfort and position you should be at in terms of stack, reach, saddle angle/height etc...I paid $300 for the best of the best here in Michigan (Ann Arbor), and for the 4hrs I spent on each bike (1 MTB, 1 gravel bike), it was money very well spent. Worth checking out for everyone IMO.
Your good! Yea the idea is I think the 3cm difference in Q factor is the main factor. All my mtbs are slammed and that’s never hurt me at all. I don’t slam my drop bar bikes and that’s why I’m thinking it was the crank.
Hope you figure out the back pain man. For me two big things. Too much time in a desk chair and in the car just atrophied all the muscles you need to support your back on the bike. Strength training has made a huge difference. Also, going from 172.5 to 165mm cranks was massive improvement too. Havent toyed with Qfactor but im sure it plays some part
I think the initial pain point was the 3cm difference in the q-factor from my mtb to my crux. Currently running 170mm cranks on everything. But the really interesting thing is I can race these crazy endurance mtb races with no pain, but going on a 50 mile gravel ride crippled me. I agree about the strength training tho. It’s the low hanging fruit I think.
I actually prefer much wider stance that the normal for road bike. I am currently using pedal spacers, but I do enjoy having something different than normal as well, will look into the mtb wide arms. How was the shifting with the new chain line?
I love Rene Herse tires. They lose PSI, but it’s not a lot and it’s consistent. Just pump your tires before riding. I do that anyway. Best ride feel out there. Fast. Grippy. I don’t get the hate.
I specifically mention in the video that I’m working with a fitter and that I don’t claim to be one. Maybe you should rewatch the video before you pass judgement.

Do you feel like it’s super twitchy?
Would love to see an update on this build after its had some miles 👌
Haha unfortunately it was pretty immediately a flop. The handling was so sketchy. The build was really cool though so we still uploaded it.
@@bicyclestationthat’s a shame looked like a proper fun bike!!
Awesome video! That bike is sick.
Awesome build when will you compare the supercaliber to the specialized epic
Probably spring time. I have to ride the bikes more to make that video

Yep, even mentioned that in the video
Sorry. Watching it at work without audio.

Sir can we have the details all the drivetrain, etc? Im planning to build flat gravel like yours
FBG ❤
Also a big fan of the togs on mine.
Looks like a great Iceman bike
Haha it honestly road really poorly. The videos still interesting but the results weren’t great. Just super twitchy and sketchy

Totally fine. Same chainline as dub wide road
@@bicyclestation Awesome! Thanks.
And keep up the videos, they are great.

Full video coming soon on this topic
Yeah. It’s called a mountain bike :)
spend the money and get a pro bike fit because you are using buzz words that you have not a clue about

its a hybrid bike ... 😢
Basically but the geo doesn’t make sense so it’s actually worse lol
