    WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?
    The Atheist Experience is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
    The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
    We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

      The same reason why computer language is all ones and zeros. Functionality.
      How does that lead you to evolution? If you saw a robot that functioned similar to other robots in a factory would your conclusion be, “They all function similarly so all must have formed and started working together due to mass amount of time and parts lying around” …?

      Spontaneous generation was a theory relating to where maggots and mold comes from, stating that they just appear out of nowhere. This was disproven by Louis Pasteur's experiments with beef broth. Abiogenesis is how life arose by very gradual chemical means. Totally unrelated theories. And you people wouldn't even be talking about DNA if scientists didn't discover it.

    • @joulian
      @joulian 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Rev Fester BesterTester
      Ahem
      Fine Tuning is a concept that presuposes TUNING and PURPOSE to prove a TUNER and a DESIGNER. It's circular reasoning. "There is a creator because this is creation"
      Physical beginnings is something nobody knows for sure if it's there or not. For all we know existence is all there is, and has been there since the moment it can be tracked from, and infinity is still a mistery.
      DNA information is a cute thing. Who coded DNA? Surprising answer? US! We coded DNA, and it means something because it means something to us, because we investigate what it does. A lot of "trash DNA" does things, just not things we have detected (therefore coded) so there. Information is what we do with input. Noise can just be noise or it can be coded into signs. There is all kinds of information that do not require a sentient person to issue it, but it totally requires someone intelligent to receive it in order to "code" it into something meaningful to the receiver, therefore giving it value.

    • @wunnell
      @wunnell 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Doctor Powers , that you assert it don't make it so. The fact is that you have no explanation for reality either. God is simply a thing defined as having the ability to create our universe. You can't show that it exists and you certainly can't provide a rational, possible step-by-step explanation of how it did create our universe or even why it would in the first place. The fact is that "god done it" is even less of an explanation than "nature done it" because at least we can show that natural things do exist and things do have natural causes.
      No one has ever shown that anything supernatural does or even could exists and thus no one has ever shown that anything could have a supernatural cause. The fact is that science doesn't indicate god because science never could indicate god. Science can indicate whether a particular natural explanation for a phenomenon is correct or not but, until you can test every possible hypothesis for the natural existence of our universe and find them wanting, you can't possibly justify claiming that the universe doesn't have a natural cause.
      We are nowhere near that point and, to be frank, that point could never be reached anyway, because we could never know that there wasn't another natural explanation to test that we just hadn't thought of. You're just lying for Jesus, which is not exactly a rare thing.

      @Doctor Powers - You actually don’t know that nature is finite, just as you don’t know that the universe had a “beginning”, because you don’t actually understand any of the sciences that you’re co-opting to make your extremely unconvincing and debunked apologetic.
      The fact of the matter is that Big Bang cosmology can only take us to the Planck time interval, at which point our mathematics and physics break down. So we can theoretically “look” at a very early snapshot of our universe when it was extremely hot and dense, but we have no demonstrated way of “looking beyond” that early snapshot.
      Regardless, you have no way to prove that the existence of nature can’t in principle be explained naturally, and you have no way to demonstrate anything “beyond” nature. Saying that God exists “outside of time” is semantically equivalent to saying that God exists at no point in time, which is the same as saying that he exists never. And, defining God as existing “outside of space” is equivalent to saying that he exists in no place, which is the same as saying that he exists nowhere. The idea that life could somehow be self-starting is still controversial to many people. Nevertheless, it turns out that finding plausible routes to life is easy. There must be at least 30 of them by now. It is hard to say which, if any, was the actual route taken, because later life forms have destroyed nearly all of the evidence. But it hardly matters, if life hadn't taken the path that it did, it could have easily taken one of the others, or one of the hundreds of others that we haven't even thought of yet.

      @Doctor Powers HA! Bait the hook for the troll you want to catch, and twenty minutes later it's nibbling on the line. 😁
      One possible route from the inorganic world to the organic, suggested by Graham Cairns-Smith is clay. Clay can form complicated microscopic structures, and it often copies an existing structure by adding an extra layer to it, which then falls off to become the starting point of a new structure. Carbon compounds can adhere to Clay surfaces, where they can act as catalysts for the formation of complex molecules of the kind we see in living creatures; complex long chain proteins, and even DNA itself. So today is organisms may have hitched an evolutionary ride on clay.
      An alternative is Gunter Wachtershauser's suggestion that pyrite a compound of iron and sulfur, could easily have provided an energy source suitable for early bacteria. Even today we find bacteria miles underground, and near volcanic vents at the bottom of the oceans, which power themselves by iron/sulfur reactions.
      But you my dear doctor, will ignore this interesting and potentially life-changing information to go on one of your signature rants, asserting your own authority as an expert on this subject for over fifty years, while demonstrating your complete misunderstanding of science, probably with a healthy dose of argument from incredulity thrown in.

Likewise you are not here to educate anyone, or debunk anything. You are here for one reason only, my amusement.
      I dangled a piece of troll bait, tailored specifically to your preferences, and within 20 minutes you were predictably enough playing with it, very much the same way as a kitten attacks a piece of string, and with pretty much the same amount of forethought. That is what you are doing, you are playing with deliberately dangled bait for my amusement, and the amusement of anyone else who happens to be watching.
      And I would love to continue playing with you, but unlike you I have a life outside of trolling. Don't worry, I'm sure someone else will be along to play with you in a moment.

    Chemical reactions randomly assemble a chemical compound which is stable, and can spontaneously replicate. This proto-replicator chemical is extremely basic, vastly more basic than DNA, it can only copy itself, it’s composed of few atoms etc. It uses crude copying and this goes on for a very long time, until again by pure chance the simple chemical lodges itself in a rudimentary lipid membrane a.k.a. fat bubble, and by coincidence both the basic replicator and the lipid membrane gain something from this e.g. both are better protected from random environment forces e.g. thanks to phosphorous atom the lipid membrane has a smaller chance to pop (completely made up - I don’t know this). Now you have arrived at an extremely rudimentary proto-cell, on which standard process of evolution can start acting. The spontaneous assembly of a proto-cell is probably quite improbable, but it’s nowhere near as improbable as the cells today, after millions of years of selection for survival. Also, this happened over hundreds of millions of years, in oceans filled to the brim with random chemicals, unstable earth, lightning supplying the energy, sun supplying the energy for random jiggle, plenty of time for random atoms jiggling about to produce some basic chemical compounds, some of which went into a proto-replicator and proto-cell. Soap bubbles form spontaneously due to surface tension… even if what I described is not exactly how it happened, the fact I can easily come up with a plausible scenario kinda pushes god into an even smaller gap, doesn’t it?
