Meur ras! At 73 Cornish sounds like something that would be fun to learn. I'm retired and 80% disabled so I spend most of my life in my room on the computer rotating between arguing politics and religion on Facebook, playing fantasy games on Steam, making funny memes, and watching things on TH-cam. I think learning Cornish for the ancestral value will be very enjoyable. Thank you for the inspiration!!! ♥

Interesting how cormish language is revive from its death although its still has a long way till its thriving status among few of its celtic language who is also endangered ways and effort are done for it to thrive and become their community or country spoken first language, I can see most are following the modern hebrew format from Israel but do you think Cornish and other endangered celtic language would flourish if you start using existing different alphabet for context aside from latin?? Or it would look strange for a community to write other alphabet aside from latin?? For example in one of the tribe in the island of Sulawesi Indonesia called "cia cia" tribe they dont have written form for their language like books or any form of litterature although it is still spoken up till now but they dont have written form for their language and it is endangered and writting things in latin alphabet doesnt work for them as they have a lot of words were the sound and intonation doesnt fit in the latin alphabet for them it doesnt make sense, until they introduce the korean hangul 6yrs ago in 2008 it was when one of the korean ambassador visited the settlers for something and one of their tribe leaders got interested with the korean language, he went to korea study the language and discovered the hangul alphabet fits into their language after coming back from korea he introduce hangul to their tribe and propose it as their official alphabet for their language and it worked.....this is just one example of how an endangered language survive and thrive by introducing new type of alphabet as a written form for their language. Do you think that might be possible to encourage locals to start learning the language and aquire high number of fluent speakers?

As a retiree with lost of health issues I can totally relate but I've been in love with Celtic languages since I was 27!

I traced my family to Lyme Regis, Dorset. Not exactly Cornwall, but I'm using it as an excuse to learn Cornish! 😁😋

It would take more research, but I could at some point. Breton is often actively discriminated against by the French State, so it is difficult.

Question, what does the "wek" part mean in Kernowek?
As in Welsh where all languages end in -eg, except for Lladin (Latin), languages in Cornish end in -ek.

I think taking the time to switch to an entirely new alphabet would waste valuable time and resources better spent teaching people the language.
