    Hi loves!
    In today's video I will finally spill all the beans about my goshiwon in Seoul! I realised I only ever showed it in my vlogs and never made an in depth video about it.
    My goshiwon is located in Sinchon, Seoul about 7 minutes away from Yonsei University!
    For those interested, here's their instagram: / yonsei_house
    Much love

    Daiso Is Love ♥️❤️♥️. I usually find stuffs I realized I never needed before than I actually have seen it. Whenever I travel, 30% of my baggage usually comes from Daiso and the rest are from Myeongdong stuffs (kpop/makeup, etc). Love this Goshiwon because of the big window. I had an 11sqm similar apt with mini kitchen but prize is just $120 per month (been living for 6 yrs). I know SK to be super expensive but yeah... What you got is already amazing ❤️

    The window is perfect. I have seen goshiwons without any window at all. Well, there was one but it lead to the corridor and not outside. Being slightly claustrophobic, this type of accommodation would be a nightmare for me without a big window.

    The only thing I would have a problem with is the drying rack over the bed... Doesn't it drip all over and get the bed wet? Which I fear would get things moldy or smelly after a while? I would assume it be something could set up out side the window or bathroom.

    Thank for sharing your goshiwon room tour with all of the additional infos, this is so informative. I loved your room especially the huge window, it looks bright and not depressing like other goshiwon room tour that i watched on youtube & theres no questionable wallpaper in the room too. LOL. May i know does the tenants has to follow a certain time curfew if you live in the goshiwon or you have the freedom to go in and out of the place as you like? How big your room in square meter. Thanks once again.. Im subscribing! ❤️

      @LauraJacobs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh you’re so welcome! I know the stress of finding a good goshiwon so I was hoping this could help some people 😊
      I’ve known I said this in many other comments before but the window is truly what convinced me! It’s just so nice to have some natural sunlight tbh also yes what is up with the weird wallpaper they always use in goshiwons?? Never quite understood it hahaha
      Oh there’s no curfew! As long as you’re not coming home drunk at 4am, yelling and bumping into the walls etc it’s all fine.
      I think the room is around 14 square meter? I’d advise to get a room that has the bed against the window though! Some have the bed against the wall which makes the room
      feel a bit smaller in my opinion. Thank you so much! Hope you have a lovely day 🥰

      Hi! Once it gets warm, we have air conditioner and during winter we have floor heating at night so if you find it too cold during the day, you can always ask for a little heater 😊 it can definitely get a bit hot at times but the AC does a good job at cooling your room down. 🥰

Thank you for including all the additional info of this place too, really appreciate it, may i know how big is the bed? Is it a 80cm single bed or the 90cm single bed? Am i allowed to bring my own bed sheets & pillowcases or maybe buy a small furniture like a small book shelf and put it in my room in the goshiwon? Totally subscribing you. Looking fwd to see more of your vids in Korea! ❤️❤️❤️

      Oh thank you so much! I’m glad it’s a little helpful 😊
      Ok so I just measured it and it’s around 90x180 but the length could be a few centimeters of since I suck at measuring things hahah you can definitely bring your own bed sheets! I did too since Koreans usually only really use a mattress pad and duvet. I’d recommed ordering those on gmarket btw.
      Hmm as long as you don’t have to drill, I’m sure it’s fine! I bought a lot of things for my room too to make it a bit more cosy.

    Hi Laura :) Great video and place!
    May I ask how you found your goshiwon?
    Did you use AirBnB or Goshipages?
    Any tips/advice for finding a good goshiwon would be appreciated. Thx

    • @LauraJacobs
      @LauraJacobs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I found it through Airbnb and then talked to them on kakao. I don’t think I even looked at goshipages tbh..
      The most important things to look for are AC, floor heating (gets so cold and so hot in Korea tbh), should be close to a supermarket (like nobrand, lotte mart), daiso, subway station and a convenience store, kitchen have a gas stove or electric stove (like the thing you cook on idk brain is not working) not one that you should plug in because that’s a mess, needs a rice cooker, water machine and a washing machine. I would also make sure there’s a passcode on the door for your safety! Oh and fast wifi!!! Very very important, especially now with online classes. If any of these are not there, the goshiwon ain’t worth your money.
      Anything else is personal preference, I guess? I really really wanted my own bathroom for example but a lot of people don’t mind sharing a bathroom at all.
      Oh and also: rooms are never as big as they look! If they say 12㎡, they mean it.
      Hope this helps a little 🥰

    • @06contentment24
      @06contentment24 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What are zoning laws?

    • @officerwaifu6408
      @officerwaifu6408 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@06contentment24 Zoning laws are laws that regulate how land in different zones can be used- basically why there are business areas and residential areas! The people who own residential areas prefer to have buildings with large / multiple rooms so they can charge more money thus making more profit. Efficiency rooms like this that would allow people to save money aren't favorable, thus many zoning laws mandate that permanent living spaces (i.e not hotels) have to have a minimum square footage and amenities!🤗

    This is my very first time to have watched your vlog, but I tell you, I'd say you did just great at featuring your goshiwon in it's finest. I love how the overall outlook of your video. Oh, never mind the messy wardribr and all that stuff that goes with it. If one is a busy person, one tends to be a lil messy and that is explainable, and we csn all toleratr that. To me, that is totally acceptable. I will just give you a lil tip tho'..... Never expose your Make Up and Beauty Products direct in the sunlight as it will make it spoil. Make up and Beauty products should be stored away from the sunlight(",)

    • @LauraJacobs
      @LauraJacobs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh thank you so much!
      When you own a lot of makeup and clothes while living in a teeny tiny room, it just gets messy so easily. I’ll clean up my room and 10min later it looks like a bomb exploded tbh.
      Oh I barely ever open the blinds on the left unless I’m filming a video so none of my skincare or makeup is exposed to sunlight! 😊🥰

Also if I don't want the served food, can I cook by my self or go out to eat and is this gonna make the rent cheaper?? Sorry for the long comment but I hope you answer!

    • @LauraJacobs
      @LauraJacobs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! I personally have never stayed at a hasukjob so I’m not really sure if you can cook by yourself there :s about the safety: when I lived in Gangnam, there were a few older men and younger men on my floor and I never had any trouble with them. In this goshiwon there’s a bunch of men as well and again, no issues with them so I’d say it’s pretty safe for women. Usually there’s cameras in the hallway and at the entrance to warrant your safety as well. But I have heard there’s goshiwons for women only if you feel more comfortable with that.

      Uhm I can only talk about my own experience of course but I’ve personally never been harassed or anything. There’s a pub/술집 in my building and even if men were super super drunk, they’ve always left me alone if I happened to go outside. If you live in a good goshiwon, there should always be plenty of cameras and those numberlocks on all doors. I’m sure it happens though but thankfully I’ve never had to deal with a situation like that.

      I totally understand where you’re coming from but comparing a goshiwon to a solitary confinement cell seems a bit extreme to me.. From what I know goshiwons became a thing here in South Korea because students needed cheap accommodation where they could just study and sleep. Would I rather live in an apartment? Yeah! Can I afford the insanely high deposit? Nope so that’s why I’m living in a goshiwon..

Also Goshiwon is really popular for students because they are cheaper than Apartments. And Apartments are expensive in every big city, you should know that. 🙃
