When I go to auto zone , o’Reilly’s,and Napa the part isn’t the one I have here the plunger is about 3 times as long this is the only place I have even seen the right part .thanks alot I will be ordering from here for the rest of this project
What they neglect to tell you is you will need to pull the plunger all the way out it will come partly in and needs to be fully extended in order to work
+1 for this! Dealership replaced brake switch on my mother in law's jeep compass and didn't do this. Several hundred dollars later, still didn't work! Scan tool said brake pedal was pressed. Adjusted like you said and it worked.
Is there a situation where this switch could be bad and only affect the operation of the Cruise Control operation? My CC lever light comes on but i am unable to set the CC at any speed. Any chance you could do a TS video on the Cruise Control issues? Thank you for your terrific content and awesome quality.
The brake light switch would affect your dashboard..... also braking would be different. One thing about installing this piece. When buying new it may be position as if it's already in your vehicle. You may need pliers ( I used needle nose) to hold tabs down while you turn counterclockwise. Then install and turn clockwise.
I have a 2006 chrysler 300c, which has the P0406 (egr valve) and two other codes P0703 and P2299. I believe replacing the egr and the brake light switch will fix these. Is it possible that this could also trip the red lightning bolt symbol?
I change my break booster and had to take off the break petal to perform the repair and when I went to reinstall everything my break petal got stuck and the break lights stood on so I switch out the brake light switch for a new one from auto zone and know here and there my eps and traction light pop on when I’m breaking, in side the shift gear box I can hear a clicking noise when pushing the brake pedal. Do I need a dealer brake switch? Do I need to adjust my break pedal? Do I need to adjust my break light switch ?
Have a 2012 Chrysler 200 convertible, the brake lights stay on while driving. Also the center light is not working when brakes are applied. The center light is LEDs and I'm assuming the brake lights are LEDs in the tail lights. Will the center light not working affect the lights in the tail lights causing them to stay on. I've changed the switch at the petal with new, same results
is this procedure will work on 2010 dodge journey rt. i see the same brake switch. my esp bas lights are on some times it turns of when i push that black circle thing.

I was told to check the BAS relay fuse behind the seat , as I checked it seems like the fuse is not working , but then I tried to use it for the front head lights and it works , all of my lights work except for the break lights.

My car every once in a while when i start it, the bas/esp an traction lights come on then im not able to get it out of park won't shift at all.. i have to shut it off pump brakes an turn on an off a couple times to get lights off so i can get out of park an shift... would a brake light switch lock it up in park?? Or do you have any other ideas?

Check wire in trunk.. light wire might be damaged by closing trunk..... or while pressing brake check to see if wired shorted

+Garman Reed Yes, it is possible the issue could be a fuse. Double check your fuses and bulbs are good, as well as your connections.

What if my brake lights work when I'm having this issue. Could it just be one bad wire in the plug harness for the brake light switch??
Prob bad wires i had similar problem with my 300 and i had to get some wire rewired
