The Dragon Prince's short stories explained Rayla's first arrival to Scumport and befriended a Moonshadow Elf named Redfeather at Scumport. Rayla tracked a Dark Mage in Scumport but it was Tressal (Tales of Xadia character), not Viren. Sometime later, Rayla left Scumport and headed back to Katolis where Book 4: Earth began.
I know the short stories delve into Rayla’s journey, but I mean I would have liked a conversation more along the lines of them talking about their feelings and how hurt Callum was by her leaving.
Rayla is a a mix of Katara and Suki. She is kind and nice like Katara and badass and funny like Suki. And Callum is a mix of Aang and Sokka. Kind like Aang and funny and confident like Sokka.

I just noticed this. Callum learned Sky Magic, then Ocean Magic. It was the same with Aang from The Last Airbender: First he learned Air bending, then learned Water bending. I wonder if Callum will learn Earth Magic next, like Aang learned Earth bending afterward.

Prince Callum the high mage of Katolis and Rayla the Moonshadow elf assassin of the Silvergrove. And even though they are friends, they still love each other, human and elf alike, just as General Amaya and Queen Janai are until they got engaged of marriage. The adventures and excitement never get old.

They’ve already became canon, now their relationship is sort of in a strained stage until they talk about what happened 2 years ago. Apart from that though, they’re pretty much still in love and in a relationship.
Spoilers: Callum's continued reliance on Dark Magic to get out of sticky the situation and save his loved ones will gradually transform him into a Darth Vader-like character. Aaravos did have Callum as his new chess piece if Viren (resembling Count Dooku) is no longer needed. Callum did show his dark side by violently attacking and punching Finnegrin in anger.

spoilers for s5 you guys calling callum punching finnegrin in anger once callum's 'dark side' is wild to me because that was literally him reacting to continuous torture and mental + physical abuse and him trying to kill rayla and asking him which one of his friends arm to cut off... that is a normal, human response from an exhausted, overworked human.

He is such a great contrast to Claudia and Viren and I expect the writers to challage his world view in next season but in the end make it so his world view is correct and ultimate form of love

I'm so proud of Callum for telling the others that he trusts Rayla. I can tell that they was going to arrest her if he didn't do anything or say anything. Because to be honest That's how the law is today. If someone does something and an officer saw it. But there wasn't any real witnesses to say it wasn't what they think they saw then they could get in trouble or arrested. But it takes a strong person to open their mouth and tell the truth. Because officers can lie and their lies could ruin someone's life. But if there's witnesses that say that the person didn't do what they were accused of then the officer can't technically arrest a person. (🤓)

THANK YOU. What she did was messed up, regardless of what her reasons were. She still abandoned him, and left nothing but a damn letter. Crap like this, makes me want Callum to find someone else, someone better.
Callum spent the whole of season 4 mad at Rayla though. They're working on it, and Rayla has realized her mistake. She literally said "I was too obsessed with revenge" and stuff. People who want them to seperate because of this probably can't handle an argument in a relationship, if they're willing to throw everything away when both sides are trying to improve things. Actions speak louder than words and Rayla has proved she's not going to abandon him again. All she is asking for is understanding, of why she felt she had to leave and why she's feeling the things she feels.
They do need to talk more, BUT, Rayla's apology comes from her actions just as much, which is arguably more important than just saying "sorry". It feels good in the moment, but won't mean a thing unless they can redeem themselves. I have personal experience of somebody making excuses and being forced to apologize, but I can't forgive him because he still makes those mistakes and hurts me, because no effort is put into changing behaviours for my sake. His own daughter's sake.
But why is nobody talking about how much their dynamik changed in comparisson to season 3? Now it feels like their both equals in their relationship. They are both experienced, mindful, calm individuals and both strong leaders this season. Whereas in season 3 Rayla was portrayed as competent, confident and appeared more as a woman while Callum seemed to be more clumsy, incompetent,dorky and more like a young boy who needed Raylas protection (I know he was able to handle things on his own,but they always put him down for comedic relief). I always thought it didn't make sense for Rayla to like him back then, since I felt like she saw him as someone she had to constantly look out for, like a babysitter. But this season, they are really able to see eye-to-eye and they have amazing chemistry that feels like the firm ground a relationship could build on.
There are three relationships I actually follow and feel compelled by richone(Rick grimes and michone ) hicstrid(hiccup and Astrid) and of course raylum

It's clear from watching this season it is gonna be a slow-burn type of thing only both people know that they love each other. Personally for me what I saw is exactly what I love. Saying 'I love you' without saying, the villain clearly noticing you care about someone just a little bit more than the other people in your group (or at least in a different kind of way)...idk good food was served.

OK so i have a theory about why rayla left. So we know that aarovos can talk to people in their sleep or something right. Well what if from his prison or cocoon he went into rayla's dreams and showed her what ahe saw knowing rayla would want revenge against viren for what he did to her family and to protect callum so that is what gave her the desc ion to leave, which allowed aarovs to sink his link to callum like one of the posters for sean 4 showed. So that is what I believe could have played a role in rayla leaving
the contrast to their relationship in the third season though 😭the writers did us so dirty by breaking up our favourite couple off screen and left us with this? I honestly don't want to continue watching the show at this point
The writers didn't know how to develop Callum and Rayla in a stable relationship,they think that the storyline of whether they will or will not get together is more entertaining for the audience.

I liked Rayllum but i kinda hate the way Callum just acts like nothing happened.. i would like to see Rayla actually APOLOGIZING
THANK YOU. What she did was messed up, regardless of what her reasons were. She still abandoned him, and left nothing but a damn letter. Crap like this, makes me want Callum to find someone else, someone better.
Callum spent the whole of season 4 mad at Rayla though. They're working on it, and Rayla has realized her mistake. She literally said "I was too obsessed with revenge" and stuff. People who want them to seperate because of this probably can't handle an argument in a relationship, if they're willing to throw everything away when both sides are trying to improve things. Actions speak louder than words and Rayla has proved she's not going to abandon him again. All she is asking for is understanding, of why she felt she had to leave and why she's feeling the things she feels.
They do need to talk more, BUT, Rayla's apology comes from her actions just as much, which is arguably more important than just saying "sorry". It feels good in the moment, but won't mean a thing unless they can redeem themselves. I have personal experience of somebody making excuses and being forced to apologize, but I can't forgive him because he still makes those mistakes and hurts me, because no effort is put into changing behaviours for my sake. His own daughter's sake.

But why is nobody talking about how much their dynamik changed in comparisson to season 3? Now it feels like their both equals in their relationship. They are both experienced, mindful, calm individuals and both strong leaders this season. Whereas in season 3 Rayla was portrayed as competent, confident and appeared more as a woman while Callum seemed to be more clumsy, incompetent,dorky and more like a young boy who needed Raylas protection (I know he was able to handle things on his own,but they always put him down for comedic relief). I always thought it didn't make sense for Rayla to like him back then, since I felt like she saw him as someone she had to constantly look out for, like a babysitter. But this season, they are really able to see eye-to-eye and they have amazing chemistry that feels like the firm ground a relationship could build on.

@@queenbriplays8530 agreed. There was a lot going on and both of them have been through too much to really put their focus on romance. It's clear from watching this season it is gonna be a slow-burn type of thing only both people know that they love each other.
Personally for me what I saw is exactly what I love. Saying 'I love you' without saying, the villain clearly noticing you care about someone just a little bit more than the other people in your group (or at least in a different kind of way)...idk good food was served.

OK so i have a theory about why rayla left.
So we know that aarovos can talk to people in their sleep or something right. Well what if from his prison or cocoon he went into rayla's dreams and showed her what ahe saw knowing rayla would want revenge against viren for what he did to her family and to protect callum so that is what gave her the desc ion to leave, which allowed aarovs to sink his link to callum like one of the posters for sean 4 showed.
So that is what I believe could have played a role in rayla leaving

The writers didn't know how to develop Callum and Rayla in a stable relationship,they think that the storyline of whether they will or will not get together is more entertaining for the audience.
