They really messed up not bringing in the cheaper trims like they promised. It's priced at least 10-15k higher than all it's competition. There's 0 reason to buy this over basically any other EV in this space, or even over the more upscale Lyriq which starts at virtually the same price.
Other than the Lyriq what other CUV EVs are there this size (width) with an available 100 kWh battery? Everything you are thinking of is the size of the Equinox.
@@bahamatodd battery size is irrelevant when the others get comparable ranges. And the cargo/leg and headroom/ cargo cap is basically the same in the others. Id4 (less range and slightly smaller but way cheaper), model y, ioniq 5, mach e, ariya, ev6 all have similar interior spacing. Plus 2 have [real] frunks for more cargo
I really wanted this to be my first EV. They lost me with the price increase. It destroyed state tax incentives and they removed features they advertised originally with this trim. Still a beautiful SUV - will be a better deal in a few years.
@@mbukukanyauAs history tells us; moving parts don't typically fail with proper maintenance. However circuits die and electric motors wear out alot quicker. Just like how every car you own for a while will need a starter and a battery and the original radio, cruise control and other electronics in the car are likely to die way before the engine or transmission or rear end. Wires degrade and fail while large metal parts do not.
Almost a year later, I bought this vehicle! Same color and everything! Got it for $40,800. It is a BLAST to drive. I understand why some balk at it (especially with a $65,000 sticker when I walked in the dealership in July), but this vehicle and its price are in line now.
I forgot to add this thought: Why would you NOT make access to the washer fluid filler neck MORE easy than, say, the coolant port? Which one do you think people will use more often, GM? Again, seems ridiculous to me... Oh, well... I'm not the person willing to spend $60,000 for this vehicle anyway so, what do I know?
@@greggrusnak6094the industry at large has decided we don't need spare tires anymore. Surprise, lol. I recently went shopping around and it's the same for regular gas vehicles too. Crazy times...

I was really looking forward to the Blazer EV & GM has really let me down. I like the design inside & out, I like the range especially on the FWD & RWD & I like the space that it has on the inside. However deciding not to produce a 1LT version, raising the price of the 2LT version and at least for me the most egregious decision getting rid of CarPlay & Android auto which effectively forces you to pay a subscription. Say whatever you want about Ford but even though they have a deal with Apple & they also have a subscription for their navigation they aren't taking away your choice to use Android Auto. I had put in a reservation for a 2LT but have decided to cancel it almost solely because they took those choices away.
yep, all of this. no sale. and killing the bolt with ap romise to someday maybe have a bolt come out with ultium at same price when they can't keep this at the price the promised? nope.
@@fastindy It's still going to have the issue with no CarPlay & them forcing you into a subscription. What's the point of having a nice big screen if I'm forced to use my phone for maps.
apple CarPlay and android auto are dealbreakers for me, most brands have it so ill pick something else the Honda prologue and Acura zdx both have it and they share a platform with this vehicle.... side eye. Not to mention all their gas vehicles have including the trax, the cheapest vehicle they sell...
Totally agree. Under powered, under ranged, overpriced and no CarPlay. Ditching CarPlay may be the one reason why I may not go GM for electric. I refuse to pay subscriptions for a sub par entertainment/info system.
I was excited for this, I went to an event that had some GM people there and talked at length with them about this and came away excited.. but they couldnt ever say anything on price.. and yea.. fail
Tesla is only cheaper now because they are gearing up for the model refresh. I suspect prices will increase at that time. So, if you are good with an "older" design being sold at a discount then that's great.
I really like the way it looks. I think the price for what you get needs to be in the 45-50k range, and I still be looking at a Y probably. If this thing is 60k how much is the SS going to be? For the money, the base R1T might be more interesting too.
I’ve been waiting for your review of this EV. Thanks so much for doing it! A semi-affordable SUV EV with AWD for the winter with a back wiper just doesn’t exist. I’ve been hoping either the Blazer or the Equinox could be the answer. $60k USD is too much in my CAD.
Good review. A few notes. The Blazer EV has two battery sizes and four powertrain configurations. FWD, eAWD, RWD and SS AWD. FWD and eAWD are both FWD based and use the smaller 10 module 85KWh battery pack with a peak charging speed of 150KW. RWD and SS AWD use the larger 102KWh 12 module pack with a peak of 190KW. The RWD actually has more power than the eAWD model. But also has more range because of the larger battery pack. The RS you drove has the eAWD system with 85KWh pack. eAWD uses a FWD main permanent magnet motor with a small rear induction motor. SS AWD uses the large RWD permanent magnet with the FWD permanent magnet motor.

I am struck by the ridiculous charging port door. Slow, and much more complex that it would appear to need to be. Think about operating that in inclement weather (freezing rain for example). Not to mention the "plug" style cover for Level Three charging. I personally hate these types of covers and it appears it could interfere with or even jam the operating of the door itself if not used properly. A failure point waiting to happen. Seems like terrible design and engineering to me.
Y’all literally find anything to complain about. It’s getting ridiculous. I suppose it’s supposed to cheaply slam shut, then you’d be happy. What is the big deal with the charge port door? All of this performance, style and technology and your comment is how the charge port door is too intricate and of good quality. My goodness.
@@G-Rated Because it's essential and doesn't need to be overly complicated where it can break and cost a fortune to fix. If it breaks you won't even be able to charge anymore. Why?
People stating it is $60k.. How about $65k? Local Chevy, Ted Britt Sterling, has one with a $5k markup.. I am sure there are even higher markups across the country. Ridiculous
It seems as if GM built this as a $52,000 vehicle and then added on the $7,500 tax credit aftern the fact. It's about $10,000 more than it should be. I would expect some big dealer/manufacturer discounts.
The frunk is highly overrated and the overwhelming majority of people who have an EV with one never actually use it. In the Mach-E for example you can only fit one carry on bag & it barely fits a normal size gym bag and even then you have to lay it on its side. Also, if you have some of those grocery bags that are square and have hard sides they won't fit at all so their frunk is basically relegated to being just a cool party trick that you can fill up with ice and drinks. What's more concerning is that for that price you can get a Model Y Performance and add the enhanced auto piolit for the same price. You can also get the Mach-E GT which is their top trim for roughly the same price. GM is grossly overshooting the price.
@kenyattaclay7666 only the automakers who aren't clever enough to incorporate a frunk will tell you the lie that drivers don't use frunks. Quit believing their excuses.
@@jamesengland7461 Yeah no, there have been numerous surveys even among Tesla owners & they the majority of them don't actually use the frunk. Also, these automakers literally spend several million dollars a year on every auto they produce and millions more on ones that never even make it to market on R&D. Part of the R in that is research into how people use the car and I can tell you on an anecdotal note I have yet to see anyone actually use it. I live in the DC area & there are a shit ton of EV here & in grocery store parking lots. Never not once even at Costco have I ever seen anyone loading their groceries in the frunk which is an everyday use case scenario. Also from an anecdotal note, I have actually only used the frunk on mine once. Hell even if you look at videos on TH-cam from real owners of EVs that have one way too many to count have said they rarely ever actually use the damn thing because for the most part it's just not all that paractle. The ONLY vehicles where it's extremely useful on a daily basis are the F-150 Lightning and the Rivian vehicles but all of those are actual trucks & have useable space for more than just a carry on bag.
My wife (& I) love the frunk on her MME. We use it to store ice when we travel. Drains right out so no muss no fuss. As stated above, I think this is a miss by GM (& other manufacturers who don't provide a usable frunk). It seems like certain auto companies just don't want to provide them.
60k 😂 the model y is the main competition and its 43 so 52500 vs 35.5 after incentives. GM isn't going to sell many which is okay with them since they can't figure out how to make many anyway.
People who own a modern Chevy and like the user interface will have an easier time going EV with this car than trying to lean to drive a Tesla, nice to see some competition. I think these prices reflect how new and rare the car is. Chevy needs to get production to a level where this price can come down because it's not competitive.
The specs revealed at the Blazer's launch event were meh a year ago. Now that it's in the wild, I think it will be a tough sell to existing EV owners. Newcomers will probably like the style, but you can buy a lot more car for a lot less money from almost every other EV brand. I also wonder just how close in size and real-world performance the Equinox EV will be when it hits the market. I suspect it will be a much more rational purchase.
I agree with you, the price caused me to cancel my reservation. Not only is more than $10,000 what is was supposed to be when anounced, but it doesnt even have the glass roof and supercruise. Even worse I saw a brand new Tesla Model Y performance with white interior in a little under $52,000!, which right now also gets de $7500 tax rebate, there's no comparison price wise. Even though I like the looks of the Chevy better, but not enough to pay that much more money for it. I can only imagine the price of the SS when it comes out, are we looking at $75 to $80 thousand!
Well done Dre. Love its appearance, really hate all that weight on the pocketbook and my concrete driveway. Still waiting for an EV to move my needle and glad it wasn't named Camaro!
$60K for the RS. The big question is what the price for the 2LT will be. As a comparison, the ICE Blazer 2LT runs $36,800, while the ICE Blazer RS is $$44,200. A split like that would put the 2LT Blazer around $50k, and perhaps less for the 2WD model.
I hope they keep this Blazer EV going for many years, I like the look of it. I want to see advancements of this platform. Can’t wait to see the Blazer SS review.
Full disclosure I own a Tesla. However I am forever hopeful there will be real competition in the EV segment as i like to have choices. With that said, the fact that the price is higher, the performance is lower, and the infotainment is years behind Tesla, I cannot fathom why anyone would pay more for this vehicle.
Damn, $60k! Just goes to show how far ahead Tesla is on EVs. I still remember when all the legacy automakers laughed and said Tesla would go under in a few years.
Like they laughed at evs for a decade+? Yet now byd is 5th globally in overall auto sales making evs&phevs&tesla is 11th making only evs. Hyundai&Kia, merc&bmw, vag and Volvo are ALL now between 9-18% of their sales in evs, even higher counting phev sales. 😎 The writing is on the wall and people are out here acting like its hieroglyphics or something. China besides the U.S. was each legacy ice oems largest market pre pandemic. China is now 38% nev market share. China largest oil refiner has publicly said gas consumption for transportation peaked there this year already. The xpeng CEO says 2025 will be the last profitable year for ice to be manufactured at scale in his country based on the data he has access to. China is the world's largest overall car market. The us is largest per capita&per asp. Buh bye Detroit former big 2 oems. 😀
@@mattbrew11 I know. It looks like Tesla did the old odie doke on legacy automakers. I think Tesla knew when their manufacturing materials would get to the point where price cuts could be actually achieved and sustainable. The others cant compete with Tesla on both technology and price. So they offer a substandard product like this for a high price, to fewer people, to buy time and more R&D.

Thanks for clearing up any possible regret for my recent purchase of an Ionic 5 SEL awd for 46500. Were they the same price , the Ioniq is still the more attractive car for me.
Model Y offers alot more performance, range, tech, utility, for like 11k$ less. This is a tough sell. This trim doesn't even have supercruise nor a glass roof 😢
Model Y is vastly overrated. The ride quality sucks, no gauges, no Car Play. Hertz just cancelled a bunch of their order for 100,000 Tesla's because they cost too much to repair. It has great 0-60 and a great network. That's it. I think the Blazer is a FAR better car - but the price is definitely too high. The SS fully loaded should be $50k. Not a penny more.
@@knotatraitor No car is perfect. And the Model Y is surely no exception to that rule. On the other hand, it's in the running for best selling vehicle in the world for the second straight year. And in the US, Tesla has the highest brand loyalty of any carmaker, by a wide margin. Can GM match that success with the Blazer? Well I suppose, if they ever make more than a couple thousand, we might find out.
@@JamesWindland Totally agree, and that's not factoring in what additional surcharges that may apply. For those looking for simple EV commuting transportation, that's a hard sell.
Thanks Andre, Not digging the reliance on screens to change things especially if it is common access things. Seems pretty odd to have such a large front hood and there is no frunk space in there. Seems like GM rushed the design. I like the look. It is pretty heavy and it's range isn't great. That price is pretty bad. It is almost as if this is the first time GM has made an EV looking at this. Oh and GM doing away with carplay and android auto is just bad. That charging door is bad design. There are other choices in the market for sure that I would choose over the Blazer EV for sure. Thanks for the video.
The canadian price of the 2lt is not so bad, pretty near the competition and sometime even lower. It 60k in canada and the model y awd is 67k, the ioniq 5 is 58k , so the price of the 2lt in canada is not bad. But cannot understand the 10k more for the rs version which is near 70k
The masses don't buy new cars SMH. In 2022 85% of new car buyers were homeowners with six figure household incomes and financed the majority of the principle loan amount for a new vehicle. It's been that way for decades now, hence why used does 3-5x the volume annually.
I like the way it looks. But for 60k ID buy any Tesla or even the new Kia EV6 GT. That’s a smoking fast car that has all the features. Although it’s range is only around low 200 miles.
The decision was easy for me. GM has discontinued support for Android Auto and Apple Carplay & no Apple Carplay support = a hard no for me. I won't even consider buying a car that doesn't support Android Auto & Apple Carplay.
If anyone wonders what EVs are having sales issues this is it. A truly middling vehicle for $60k. Hyundai/Kia and Tesla are undercutting this Blazer price wise with just as much capability. As a side note, the average American can’t afford any of these, so how will they ever succeed. Until you can buy an EV like this for 40k or less, they will only be a vehicle for those with a bit of disposable income
The average American can't afford a new car, period. The average new car price is $48k. Used car volumes are about 3x new car volumes so what really matters for mass adoption is a big inventory of used EVs. I agree this Blazer is a terrible value though.
Yup -- had a Blazer EV reservation, I cancelled it soon as I found out they were ditching Android Auto/CarPlay and moving everything to "integrated to the car" setup. The fact it costs $60k is only the first part of the laugh, there are stories of many dealers marking them up 5-10k. So you have dealers trying to sell this thing for $70k? HAH. The same range/performance from Tesla is $45k, you can get a fully optioned up Model Y *performance* with tow hitch, and the $6k autopilot option and it would still be cheaper than this. GM could have had a hit on their hand, but in usual GM fashion they screwed themselves over. Later on I'm sure they will say the same thing they always do "consumers didn't want EV"s", which is BS. I enjoy my 22' Bolt EUV, and wanted to upgrade, not to that overpriced turd of a Blazer EV though. Seems the best advertising for Tesla is GM currently.
I agree with you... I also have the Bolt EUV which saves me over $260 a month with the car loan. This is really disappointing and probably Chevy will be looking for a bail out in a year.
@@TroySavary lol edited your reply smooth move exlax. If you'd bother to understand what GM is actually doing across their fleet, you'd realize that yeah cancelling a feature loved by EVERYONE and moving your whole platform to a subscription based BS will 100% push people to Tesla AA/Carplay or not. Ever owned a GM vehicle? my guess is not, otherwise you'd know about the scam that is OnStar. GM wants to squeeze you for $50-70 dollars per month in their new integrated platform. Tesla? $9 for everything. Maybe you just love licking ole' Mary Barra's boots, because you sure can't seem to see the big picture of what they are doing.
Hyundai, Ford, Kia, even Tesla would be a much better option for what you pay than this car. Chevrolet have gone crazy. They are doing the same with the electric pick up truck (OVERPRICED). Seems to me that someone (or a whole department) in Chevrolet will be loosing their job soon. Don't understand their mind set. What is the base of this price decision? They have the bigger battery? Well, their charging time sucks, so there you go. Don't get it.
I am guessing GM figures the high price will mean GM will get more of the money per unit versus the dealers which been just marking up everything to insane levels. Why should GM offer a lower retail when the dealer is just going to charge so much more? Then consider GM is probably taking a loss on every EV they sell, so selling less, means less loss in the short haul. If they ever hope to make the transition to EVs, they are going to have to hit high volume to turn a profit at some point. Consumers who do a small amount of research are going to find many more appealing options. It will the GM loyalists making up the bulk of the buyers for this unless the price changes dramatically.
From what we have seen so far, most dealers are not excited about selling EVs. They believe they can get someone coming for an EV to go ICE instead. Keeping the lower service revenue EV models out of the market and selling in the higher service costs models in the market, keeps dealers smiling. If EVs truly need 10% as much service, those large service centers that generate big profits, suddenly see their business demand drop. @@samatwesu
GM should be able to control their dealers and the prices/markups. If a dealer dosen't obide, then penalize them with no, or less, supply. The manufacturers are not looking out at all for the consumers.
1) That charge door is ridiculous. 2) I can't wait until people start putting washer fluid in the coolant inlet. I imagine you replenish washer fluid more than you futz with battery coolant. Why on earth would washer fluid be under plastic cap and the coolant not be? 3) No way I would get that over a MYP for the price. Madness.
My concern is how the pricing here is going to be reflected in the pricing for the Equinox. That's the car that will move out the door if it is priced as promised. If they gouge us from MSRP to the dealerships, it'll be a disappointment again.
I think if you read between the lines, it's looking like the Ultium Equinox may be delayed permanently, in favor of an updated Bolt, followed by the next generation platform.
Nice review Andre! I was all excited about this review to see how it compares to my Mach E select AWD, more range is great, looks to be slightly larger and to have roof rails is nice, BUT for that price kills it.
It looks nice on the exterior except for those gills behind the front wheelwell. The interior looks nice as well, more comfortable than a Model Y. The price is stupid. Drop those ridiculous 21" wheels and put in 19" wheels and change the batteries to LiFePO4 and it should drop the price $5k and not alter range that much. Otherwise it's going to need discounts to compete with Model Y and Mach E.
I like the EV6 and Ioniq 5 and 6 also as cars in this same space. GM has good competition in this space and does not appear they did their homework. Lots of competition coming into the market soon that appear to be better thought out than what GM is going to be offering. The Bolt was better thought out than this.
@@Longsnowsm If this was 2018 GM would be selling these like hotcakes. They, unfortunately, timed the market wrong. Heading into a recession, stiff competition with a well established player who's in the lead and high interest rates making borrowing costly. They should have went with the value proposition and then worked on the luxury or performance variant after a couple years. As it stands anybody considering this should just buy a Lyriq if they afford 10% more or save money with a Y, ME, Ioniq, ID4.
I really love the sporty look of the vehicle, BUT 60K for an interior full of cheap plastic is unrealistic. I'm sure they priced it when the car market was haywire a year or so ago and that is not the case anymore so get ready for reduction in price by at least $10K
Whatever happened to GM leading the industry in EVs? What about the “Ultium” having higher energy density and costing much less? I don't see the huge range or the affordable price. Somebody is lying somewhere-hard pass.
I never understood it. They didn't develope the battery chemistry. The only way to make an EV cheap is to spec a smaller pack. For a smaller pack, make a smaller car. We don't so small cars here.
@@mtnman1984 GM did develop the battery chemistry for Ultium. This design uses modular packs and they relay data with wireless signaling to the BMS. You can make a pack cheaper by taking out the more expensive elements like NMC but each of those adds some useful properties to the energy density of the cell or stability in preventing fires, higher charge speeds and so forth. If they went with a LiFePO4 battery it would be $5k cheaper but would have less range. Those 21" wheels aren't helping the issue.
@@Tokamak3.1415 good information, but GM partnered with LG Chem who manufactures the cells. I don't understand why they didn't advance the standard with the voltages of the packs. I understand they can series/parallel switch in the larger packs, but all anyone cares about is how fast you can get juice into the battery. With 400V, owners will run into amperage limitations on a pretty constant basis. And, yeah, the 21s don't help. Neither does the size of the vehicle. I'm surprised that it doesn't stand out more with its specs, considering the hype around Ultium. It's great that it scales across the product portfolio, but, meh.
@@mtnman1984 GM will actually be doing the manufacturing. LG will be providing the battery making equipment inside the GM owned building - similar setup to how Tesla and Panasonic are. 400V vs 480V, 560V or 800V is often brought up as a simple numbers game. I work on batteries as my 2nd job. The problem with going to higher voltages is it requires very high endurance voltage equipment that can handle said abuse. Lucid can afford to put them in its cars. Hyundai has put them in and now is having issues with their ICCUs failing left and right. On a large battery like a Hummer it makes sense to demand 600+ volt systems. Not so much on the smaller packs. Probably equally important would be to get the voltage up on the main bus so the archaic 12V system can be upgraded. Rivians are having problems losing 3% charge per day due to sleep state issues. For people who aren't road tripping every week fixing improper sleep states and phantom drains and standby power use is more important than saving 2 minutes at a charging station.
I have had many Chevy products and was very happy with them. The Blazer EV was my number one choice for my first EV, however, the new pricing has me now looking at other alternatives. Most likely a Tesla or ID.4. Too bad for Chevy, there will be many consumers migrating elsewhere after the pricing and dealer markups.
At least look at all of them so you can see how much larger the Blazer is and it's interior room. If that's not important and you want something smaller equivalent in size to the ID4 that's what the Equinox EV is for.
So you're the first professional TH-cam channel I've seen review this. This is disappointing from GM. I've seen dealers doing reviews and posting them, and they stink. Since a dealer was smart and let you guys do the review makes me happy. Will they let you have it long enough to really evaluate and compare to model Y and Mach E
I would like my next vehicle to be an EV, and this is a compelling product, but the cost seems excessive. If GM needs to sell at this price for any chance of not losing money, then I get it, but I'll be waiting (hopefully not forever) for greater price parity with ICE offerings.
I have the RS EV BLAZER. I love it. The room the speed and the fact that you still have buttons to control it manually, like the ac, wipers the screen. Only negative I see is the apple car play doesn’t come on the blazer.
I love the look of the Blazer EV. I would buy one to replace my wife's Traverse but the charging availability while road tripping eliminates that as a serious option. Waiting for NACS and the price to come down.
It's over priced for most people and for persons of more mature age the low entry and exit angles are a no go.Body stiffness of the older generation prohibits such circus acts getting in and out.
Honestly how often do you road trip & when you do how often is it that you go more than 300 miles. I understand if you are commonly going from say NY to Florida several times a year than that would be a concern. However if you are like the overwhelming majority of people who's road trips are 283 & miles or less and maybe once a year at most then the road tripping aspect is grossly overblown. Also, even if you bought a CCS EV now with the exception of VW all the automakers are switching to NACS early next year which is just a couple of months away & you can get an adapter. If you just don't want an EV or the cost of the Blazer is too prohibitive I get it & I'm not trying to change your mind but those sound more like excuses than valid concerns.
@@kenyattaclay7666 I agree with most of your points. However, if you don’t own an EV, you don’t understand both the good and the bad. Not sure about the above comments about being old. My overweight dad has 2 fake knees and bought a new corvette. He doesn’t care how long it takes him to get in/out.

However my most common trip is to Baltimore and I can get there & back home on one charge. However if I’m going back home to Chicago like I am in a few days I’m flying no matter if I had an EV or a traditional ICE car so I just feel like for the overwhelming majority of use cases an EV is just fine. I will concede though that once NACS is fully available maybe I would go on longer road trips or at least consider it. I agree with you about the age comment. I’m 51 with bad knees from my time in the military & I get in and out of the Mach-E just fine. It has a higher ground clearance than a regular sedan & the Blazer EV has an even higher ride height than the Mach-E.
Nope, this is a huge let down, any manufacturer that dumps android auto and apple carplay will not get my business. This is a cash grab and GM is really starting to piss me off with this subscription based features. I want to purchase an automobile and it just has the features it has. I want reliability, I want a strong warranty that actually covers the car and is not full of BS that gets the manufacturer out of paying for repairs, and I want good standard features. The fact that this one as tested is $60,000, has substandard range, and overall is nothing special just pushes me further away from GM. I have been a lifelong GM owner. I currently own a 2024 Silverado 2500 midnight (gas) and my wife drives a 2022 GMC Terrain Denali and these might be the last GM vehicles we own.
It's much too expensive for what you get. There's a lot of other EV's out there that offer as much or more for $10,000 less. Too bad. Because it's a great looking car with many of the features people are looking for.
I think this is the best looking electric crossover/suv on the market. Really nice. However, i agree it need to be about 15k cheaper or i would never even consider it. Also the power output, while not bad, is still disappointing for an EV.
The one pedal driving system doesn't look to anywhere near as good as the earlier Chevy Bolts. Wonder why GM is totally screwing up a great system in this Blazer and even in their newer Bolts. I just don't get it. I have been driving the original one pedal driving system Bolts for over six years and find them fantastic!
I love how when GM announced the Blazer EV and the discontinuation of the Bolt EV/EUV the Blazer was going to start around $35k. Then GM eliminates the $35k option and I haven't seen a dealership list anything below the $60k option. The one dealership I talked to about the Blazer EV while getting my EUV serviced indicated they didn't expect the LT version until model year 26 (2025).
They never announced the Blazer EV starting at $35,000. You're thinking of the Equinox, which will start in the $30,000s. The Blazer EV was always going to start in the $40,000s, but that will be the 1LT when it is released in a year or so.
I think it looks great, and the interior is nice too. I agree on The price though, seems very steep when you can get equivalent and better vehicles for less.
$10k+ less than 7 passenger LR model x with better touch controls plus fit and finish. Tesla is removing turn signals for some reason. for sure Tesla has this beat on range and acceleration. This is for a different buyer than Tesla model x.
The MSRP on the RS AWD of $60k. Ooof. A Tesla Model Y Performance costs $8k less. The Model Y regular AWD which will still have more performance over the Chevy RS AWD starts at $12k cheaper. Finally the cheapest Model Y which is $18k less has the same 0-60 time as the RS. The Chevy also has less rear cargo space and zero frunk. Also the Chevy has 750lbs. more curb weight. That's going to be a hard sell. It would be a fairly good value and competitive if they priced it at around $40K-45K.
Great review, but I always think the thing missing is finding stations, and stations that actually work. We are about 10 years away, and battery and charger technology has to be well ahead of what it is now, and 60 K, I'll take a loaded Mustang GT...lol
Did they not check out the prices of the competition before they priced it? I'm trying to find more than one reason why I would buy the Blazer EV at this price. The only reason I can find is that it is a looker. But otherwise, I can find other lookers for much less money.
Obviously at MSRP not a competitive product. Even with the Fed tax credit for US made, there is a lot of competition offering a far better value. Also, the Korean triplets don't have the Fed rebate but are heavily discounted. The other issue is GM is so late to the game that all of it's main competitors are already somewhat 'proven'. I own a Lightning and Ioniq 5 but right now - for sedans/CUVs, I'd only recommend buying a Tesla 3 or Y to my friends and family.
Just got rid of the wife’s bolt for the hybrid maverick. I was almost disappointed I had done so till you showed me the price. I didn’t buy the bolt euv because it’s old tech and somewhat high price in Canada. Good job TFL as usual.
My 2023 Bolt EUV cost $33 k. $23k after federal and state tax credits. Love the Bolt - Get over 5 miles per kwh in local driving. Charge on a 240 plug at home. Chevy has to be out of their mind thinking they can charge $60k for a Blazer EV !!! What a disaster. I will never pay over $35k for any EV. Looks like I will be keeping the Bolt EUV for a long long time.
Nice car , but that area under the front hood looks really cheap . I'm not impressed with big screens , the less touch sensitive stuff the better . It is certainly quiet . The inner decor seems a little lower rent than Kia or Hyundai for example .
I loved the K5, but I don't miss it. This Blazer is exciting. Eleven months after your review it's going for around $40K at some dealerships. That seems sensible to me.
It's a good looking car, looks very spacious inside, but 60K is a lot of money for this; maybe the SS deserves that price tag but not the RS.
ben hardy drove one of these at dealership like what month ago? TFL late as hell.
Hilarious. Neither
And that is going to be what kills the EV right off the rip. It's way over-priced for what you get and what competitiors offer.
That price point is way too high. A Tesla Model Y performance is 53k. 0-60 3.5s
@@tylergood1223IMO, blazer EV has a much nicer interior and exterior than a base model Y but several thousand dollars nicer, no.
Why does GM have to make the charger door so weird on both the Blazer and the Lyriq? A manual door that opens sideways would work just fine.

I'm sure that charging door is gonna be fun to open when it's caked in ice and dirt on snowy winter roads.

I hope there’s a way to drop the charge door manually. How is there no frunk? C’mon GM, you’ve had YEARS to study the Model Y and improve on it. WTH?
I wonder if the RWD will have a frunk?

I wanted to like it. Legacy auto makers are just not competitive in the ways you described.
Good point! I did not think of this. But this would insure markups would be low if dealers hope to move this EV.
@@robedwards6926exactly!
And now Equinox is probably over a year away also!
I'm sure they priced it when the car market was haywire a year or so ago and that is not the case anymore so get ready for reduction in price by at least $10K
nice but just way too much money....off of our shopping list due to the msrp.
when first announced i was interested but the dropped the 1lt and that price just kills it for me
Whatever happened to GM leading the industry in EVs?
@@Tokamak3.1415 wow, great info. Thanks.
I guess the only good thing it’s the design, because if it’s acting like that and doesn’t have a front trunk, it won’t sell
The Mach-E is worth considering too, I have one and I love it!
Charge port door is so very slow
I never have time to grab a stopwatch and time mine. I do drive off without closing it, since it closes automatically.
Some stuff they've done well; some stuff they've messed up. The biggest 'mess up' ... that price. This doesn't earn that price.
They are whacked with that price…. Can’t wait for the future videos on all the reliability issues 😂
Tesla gets you way more performance and features at a much lower price. Not to mention no dealership markup to deal with.
Can’t wait to see how many issues the charge port has during the winter months where snow and salt spray are common.
@@tlangton I own a Mach-E so I do get the positives and negatives but at the same time I examined how much I actually go on extended trips & how long those trips are. I live in the DC area so the furthest I’m going to drive is Philly to the north & central North Carolina to the south & in both cases I can get there on one charge & there are a lot of hotels or Air B&B’s that have level two.
Not a bad looking car at all, looks good inside and out,but that's way too much money, should be around 45k
pass on the price and old battery tech, hold out till solid state
Nope, this is a huge let down, any manufacturer that dumps android auto and apple carplay will not get my business.
Totally agree. It’s $10k too much.
The Tesla model y is between 32 and 45 thousand.
Thats over Model Y Performance price... No wonder Tesla Y is becoming the most sold car in the world...
I think this is the best looking electric crossover/suv on the market. Really nice. However, i agree it need to be about 15k cheaper or i would never even consider it. Also the power output, while not bad, is still disappointing for an EV.
I think the Genesis GV70 electric looks better. It costs a lot too though.
ugh. great review but 275 miles of range, 300 hp, and 6.5 sec 0-60 for 60k...pretty blah blah blah imo. I will stick with my 2017 bolt for now.
Wow! Compare this to the Tesla Model 3... there is no comparison! This Chevy needs to be around 35K to compete.
Business
They never announced the Blazer EV starting at $35,000. You're thinking of the Equinox, which will start in the $30,000s. The Blazer EV was always going to start in the $40,000s, but that will be the 1LT when it is released in a year or so.
This is NOT the Equinox EV.
Might be Equinox EV rebadged to throw us off
@@rp9674just as likely it is the Tesla Cybertruck rebadged to throw you off…
I think it looks great, and the interior is nice too. I agree on The price though, seems very steep when you can get equivalent and better vehicles for less.
It’s heavier than my 7 passenger LR model X
$10k+ less than 7 passenger LR model x with better touch controls plus fit and finish. Tesla is removing turn signals for some reason. for sure Tesla has this beat on range and acceleration. This is for a different buyer than Tesla model x.
dumbest thing GM could've done (aside from this outrageous/uncompetitive price) is to not offer a frunk. That's one of the best parts of getting an EV
10k more than Tesla which beats it on all specs for normal. All wheel drive
It’s not bad. A little too expensive.
The weight is a lot higher than a Tesla Model Y.
About 430lbs. Thats not an enormous delta
that is an enormous delta!
It's just like people have been saying. This is the car that's gonna put Tesla out of business!
😂😂😂
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Great review, but I always think the thing missing is finding stations, and stations that actually work. We are about 10 years away, and battery and charger technology has to be well ahead of what it is now, and 60 K, I'll take a loaded Mustang GT...lol
60K?! ROLF! 🤣
My neighbor purchased a Bolt. It depreciated by 50% in 2 years. And it was low mileage
@@zoobrizzpartially because chevy cut the bolt price by 6k..so people who bought new this year paid less than new 2 years ago.
Nice car , but that area under the front hood looks really cheap . I'm not impressed with big screens , the less touch sensitive stuff the better . It is certainly quiet . The inner decor seems a little lower rent than Kia or Hyundai for example .
Yes needs to be about 10k less to compete with mach e. And model y.
10K??? MORE LIKE 20K!!! then we can begin to talk !!
I loved the K5, but I don't miss it. This Blazer is exciting. Eleven months after your review it's going for around $40K at some dealerships. That seems sensible to me.
I dont need 0 to 60 in 1.9 secs.
I test drove a blue AWD RS today, they offered me $49K out the door, including FL state tax. It rode great.
