10:37 Wearing all black is a good way of learning how to layer fabrics. You can get so much depth in an all black fit that would assumably be absent(being that it’s monotoned) because you contrasted textures and shades of black.
Wearing all black is a statement in and of itself, it is a type of expression, which is how SOME people express themselves according to their personalities and lifestyles, and they are usually the ones for whom it means something because it's authentic to who they are/what they represent, or an image they want to project. Others however wear black because they just think it looks cool or because it doesn't require effort and don't have any actual personal input why they do it is just kind of silly and limiting. Basically it's a bold look but you need the right personality and lifestyle to match otherwise you're just wearing a costume
As to the colors - it's about the undertones of your skin and shades of the given color... there's black and then there's black. Each color has shades from warm to cool... any color can look good on you just depends which shade you choose. I personally look good in emerald green but warm bottle green makes me look like a dead man
Yes, I keep forgetting, there are shades of black, just like there are shades of white. And then there is texture and weight of fabric too, shape of the clothes.
I will be honest that I take Kibbe/McKinsey very seriously for my style but I found that it actually made me aware of different brands total range and not just the most obvious avant garde pieces. Now I can wear VBF, The Row, Gucci, Extreme Cashmere, Ralph Lauren, Sacai and Sei etc and pick pieces that suit my agenda without pushing a specific brand or designer. It's surprisingly versatile.
It exists but many people don’t know who they are so that creates a hurdle to create personal style. I know who i am and love how I look and want to nurture that. This pushes me to continue to build my style and stay true to myself
I always understood people wearing designer as stylish being like people who think they’re good at pokemon because their whole team are legendary pokemon. Kind of nerdy analogy but iykyk
This conversation is ridiculous. I can’t imagine music students debating on whether or not music taste exists. Fashion is a form of communication so it would be ridiculous to not dress for the current zeitgeist. Punks or Mods back in the day were dressing as a collective but they still had individual style. If you don’t dress how you truly want to because of peer pressure that says something about you and therefore is a valid form of self expression. As long as you buy your own clothes you have personal style.
oh, you already said most of what my rant is. Since you brought up music, an analogy would be “several instruments playing the same song can still make it sound different”
True style is personal, an intimate issue and is based on relationships and interactions both with clothes and people around you. If you have a stylist, you don’t have personal style. Simple!
Personal style is just a way of saying “niche of one” imo. The smallest possible unit of a niche. Of course it exists. But something- _anything_ staying unique means staying exclusive and therefore niche is very, very hard now. So much has already been done that it can be hard to feel there’s a point to trying to establish your own identity or “thing.” And it’s much easier to just imitate your community/aesthetic of choice.
I can think of a few who are deemed stylish but are mostly just wearing shit to fit in with the fashion crowd, for example, Shai, Stefon Diggs, every other NBA player trying to be front row at pfw, lot of footballers in europe
@@whywerentyouthere they only started wearing “stylish” stuff when it became common. Its like everyone woke up and decided they were into fashion at the same point in time
@@Kaio.Viegas And im not mad at someone getting heavily into fashion, im only wondering whether they would be into it if weren't as cool as it is now to be fashionable/stylish, cause people used to get clowned heavy for that
You both are correct! It also doesn’t hurt they have lots of disposable income and stylists to basically get the “look” overnight. You can always tell when they fire/hire a new stylist. lol their fits either fall off or elevate.
Color theory says you are cool, neutral or warm undertone, it has nothing do with the color of your skin. If you are dark skinned but cool, you should wear black, if you're dark but warm undertone, wear navy, warm dark brown/or any other warm dark color. The lightest and darkest person can both have the same undertone, - cool, neutral, or warm. Undertone is not skin color. Basic rule - if you look better in orange, you are warm undertone, if you look better in pink, you are cool undertone. And then you expand into the 16 seasonal color theory which is all over YT.
Would you believe me if I told you that I made a comment on a previous video along the same lines, BEFORE this one was uploaded 8 hours ago (on comments made 4 days ago)??? I am only just watching THIS video on "style". I agree with the comments, by the way. I promise, look at the timestamps. It's quite a moment for me right now... Hahaha!! Wow!!!
Please stop using auto translate for your video titles. The translation is really bad, cringe even. And what's the purpose? If people do not understand English, they won't watch your videos anyway.
I wear a lot of Yohji Yamamoto, Jil Sander and Prada. Often all black. I imprinted on it during the Japanese invasion of Paris in the 1980s. 🙃 As a soft autumn I should avoid black like the plague, but I don't care - it's a statement. I keep an eye out for muted mid tones, but I have a hard time letting go of black.
As a soft summer with platinum blonde hair I should too, but the statement and modern contrast it makes is lovely. Also I have Miyake pieces in all black that I cannot let go because of the memories and moment in my life in which they were a huge part of my everyday style.

I really meant, “stylish” is not a meaningful word, but stand by what I said
Stylish definitely makes more sense but honestly even style fits the point you made pretty well still

Love me some Sacai! Not too flashy, no logos, just enough playfulness to feel expressive and explore shapes in one’s wardrobe.
@CarlosLeFleur YES! The shapes do it for me...the structure is very forgiving if you have both a conservative and creative taste in clothes. 👍🏽
Yes Kibbe is very useful and I believe it does make a difference.

Style is the only thing so-called fashion is simply trying to re-invent the wheel

Facts! Kinda hard to lose with a level 100 charizad or Lugia
