  • We got our hands on a 1 of 100 Hummer H3T Alpha Adventure Edition and gave a real world review of what the truck is, how it compares to modern day mid size pick ups and of course send it through trails that modified Jeeps struggle to get all the way through. Comment below with your thoughts on the Hummer H3 platform in general!

    Had 4 jeeps. Was tired of waiting for gladiators. I now Own an h3t alpha. Won’t be going back to Jeep. Love this truck!

      They are rock solid trucks for sure, it would be nice to see some more aftermarket options for them but with how few there are its understandable why hummer owners have to do it all themselves.

      Honestly, I’m not 100% sure Jeep would’ve created the Gladiator without the H3T coming into existence first.

      I have a gladiator rubicon, but I want a h3t alpha. The gladiator is awesome off-road, and probably the best midsize truck for off-roading and overlanding. But not the best as daily driver. I think the hummer would be much better as a daily. I’m considering finding one and selling my gladiator. As for mods, I don’t mind, I can fabricate anything I need myself.

      I'd rather have an h3t alpha with front and rear lockers any day and save 30 thousand dallors...over a jeep gladiator rubicon...

    I've owned an H3 w/5 cylinder for 2 years now and love it. This is my 1st suv. I'm a construction worker so I'm off-road on a daily basis. I've installed 35' tires on it and it looks like a "BEAST"!!! Gas mileage sucks but oooh welll, I still love it. 3 days ago I got a Wacker Neuson ST45 skid steer stuck in the mud on a steep slope. Look it up, it's not a small machine. Yup, you guessed it, I hooked up a chain to the H3 and the machine, put the H3 in low 4wd and it pulled it out without even a struggle. If I were a betting man, I would have lost. I really didn't think it would do it. I'm upgrading to the H3T Alpha this summer, and after watching this great review, I'm even more convinced.

    Rear view camera was available in rear view mirror and yes you nailed this review. GMs biggest secret was these Alpha /adventures package and the size is easier to wheel on narrow two tracks so better than the H1

    ive got one of these with everything but the v8. still a great truck. 5 cylinder has 4.56 gears in the diffs and 33" tires with adventure package. drives great around town, has to work a bit on the highway up slopes. i just set the cruise. i love the simplicity of the interior design. ive got a dog who sheds all the time. it cleans easy. especially with leather. my seats are height adjustable. 8 way power, lumbar, and heat on both sides. backup cam display in the rearview mirror. ive had two toyotas in the past. this is a much more comfortable truck. did i mention i love this truck.

    I have an 09 H3T Alpha with the adventure package (locking difs from and rear) roof rack, slant top, 10,000 lbs front winch. It is my second H3. I use my truck as my everyday driver with 156,000 miles on it now. My biggest expense other than routine maintenance and regular break jobs so far has been to replace the heater core. That required to remove the dash, the steering column, the console and the front seats. I recently replaced the front wheel bearings (both sides - if you are going to do one side, my as well replace the other). It's been a great truck, going strong, not showing signs of getting old. It has taken me into many places I would not walk in. Love it. Thanks for highlighting the beauty and strenghs of this great little Hummer.

    Loved the video, I own a H3T with the adventure package. I live in Knoxville TN so the area here is hilly, rocky, muddy all the good stuff my only issue is that the chromed areas of the truck tend to discolor and peel....... I believe that I will install the new torsion kit for a better ride..... I turned mine up and lost the nice ride....thanks for the video

Lift kit Wasn't designed for 16inch rims lol. ARB front bumper with warn winch . Also have the rock sliders like yours. 110,000 miles and not one single issue knock on wood.

    The Hummer H3T Alpha is arguably the best Hummer they have ever made (after the H1 Alpha), I agree. Useable truck bed unlike the H2 SUT, and has a great ride quality, unlike the H1’s in my opinion. I personally think an H1 is more capable off-road with their portal hubs and overall build, and that an H2 also has a smoother ride. The best of the H3’s for sure.
    Overall, I love my H3T Alpha (with Adventure and Luxury packages). A very unique truck that very very few have or are even aware of.
    The truck will wake up even more if you decide to tune it (or install a cam like I did 😉). Your rock sliders turned out great bud.

    I bought my 2009 H3T Alpha brand new. Was one of the first ordered in Canada. Black on black. I have owned a 2006 GMC Sierra, 2019 Dodge Ram Rebel (currently owned), 2020 Jeep Willys (currently owned) and a Chevy s10. Hands down favourite truck I have ever owned or driven is my H3T. I will never sell it. GM calls once every few months with someone looking to take it off my hands. I also have the fox 2.0 shocks on it. I have the Diamond Back cover on it, and have started ordering spare parts for the truck as I find them. I had the T-case chain replaced, and they found an aluminum chain guide that actually came loose and was binding up the chain. Would recommend checking that eventually. Thats the only major repair I have had with this truck, and I have 290,000 km on it. Although I don’t drive it as much anymore, it is still my favourite. If anyone wants to let one go, I would be interested in getting a second, third, etc... great video!

    I have an 09 with a leveling kit and Bilstein shocks. I live in Minnesota, drive it nearly everyday to work and have taken it off road as well. I have owned many jeeps, dodge, chevy, ford and Toyota trucks. For the everyday driving and off-road, you just cannot beat it.
    I haul full sheets of 4x8 materials in the bed with the tailgate adjustment, it fits my full-size ice house in the bed and my family of four fits nicely, even though we are all taller bigger people. We also have an h3 5cylinder which is nice but does not compare. If you have a chance to get one, even a 5 cyl, convert it and have fun, there aren't many out there.
    Hopefully GM will get smart and bring us something to answer to the new jeep gladiator which I was very disappointed with. The chevy blazer sure and the hell was not the answer...bring back the H3T GM!!

  • @SurelyYewJest
    @SurelyYewJest 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ya people always assume the Hummer H2 and H3 were based off the Chevy/GMC derivatives in the same size segment, but they very much were not. In fact about the only things that were common between all 3 were the engines and transmissions. Beyond that, everything else is different. The H2 had a partial subframe from the GMT800 HD trucks in the rear, a partial full-size SUV frame up front, and its own thang in the middle. The H3 was a modded GMT345 platform that was deemed the GMT745, which was only tangentially related to the first-gen Colorado/Canyon. If you look at the longest Colorados/Canyons available while the H3 SUT was around, the H3 is longer, and ir’s probably the stoutest of GM’s mid-size lineup of the time. I have no doubt the H3 could be re-rated and be able to tow/payload more, but that wasn’t the goal a decade ago as much as it is now when GM, Jeep, and Ford are all touting max towing over 7k and fanbois are arguing over payload ratings compared to the Tacoma.

    Hey we passed each other on the trail, I was in the little black sxs I think it was july 27. I was wondering if you'ed make it the rest of the way down that trail.You edited out a lot of the cool stuff, you should put up a video of just the hard obstacles. Im a native of the island and it's fun watching people crawl over trail I buzz down every weekend. Next time you should take the south route to Marble Head that's a challenge for any vehicle and driver. I just subbed, it's pretty cool I found this channel after passing you on the trail.

  • @TomCastello1
    @TomCastello1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I just bought a H3 for the wife and honestly I think it would be better off road then your H3T simply because of the shorter wheelbase not to mention we picked it up for under 10 grand with less than 80k miles on it. These things are a bargain right now with Wrangler prices unjustifiably through the roof. And if you aren't doing something that requires an insane amount of articulation and spend the vast majority of your time on a paved street the H3 is one hell of a deal.

  • @1964rmcc
    @1964rmcc 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've never had a jeep and own a TBSS now but I think that the H3 is a really cool vehicle that can handle anything and I'd consider it if I decided to get into adventure vehicle instead of a Jeep .GM should bring this vehicle back they have nothing this capable right now thanks for the video !

    I agree with this review. Took my 3 years to find my h3t alpha off road package with front and rear lockers.... also a little known fact they have fixed 4 piston calipers, like the new zr2, and the brake booster is electric over hydraulic like many Toyota off road vehicles. Really cant beat it.... it's like buying a zr2 that is LS swapped and never really looks old, plus you never see another one. Been driving mine all over for 5 years. Thinking about building the 5.3 but also watching the hummer EV closely. If I could buy my truck brand new I would in a heartbeat, other ones like mine have gone for $25,000 to $30,000 with 150k miles here in southern California. What can compete with only deprecating $10,000 over 11 years and 150k miles?... a few people have these figured out while a bunch laugh and have no idea.
    Thanks for the video!

    Same half axles on Colorado. As a matter of fact the high performance Chevy half axles made for the Chevy Colorado ZR2 which have slip shafts will bolt right on to your H3T. Check out my video . Want to sale it ? Parts not hard to find except for the transfer case and front diff for this model because of the lockers and 5.3L V8. It will keep up with any Jeep. I would take this vehicle over the new Jeep Gladiator unless they put a diesel in the Gladiator

    • @PARTOUTaccessories
      @PARTOUTaccessories  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey that's great to know Leroy thanks for the heads up! We can agree on the gladiator compared to the H3T Alpha after driving a few of them. A diesel option for either truck would be amazing.

    • @00ninja00
      @00ninja00 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a gladiator, and only way I think a gladiator would be better than this (drive train wise), is if they put the 392 v8 engine in it. As for off-road capabilities and as an overland vehicle, the gladiator is way more capable than the hummer h3t or any other mid size truck, and nothing out there would be better than the gladiator as an off road mid size truck, maybe pretty good and capable, but not better. But as a daily, the solid axle and steering on the Jeep, makes it not very comfortable driving it daily. And it’s loud on the freeway. The diesel is just a problem child on the jeeps imo. New diesels aren’t like old diesels. Too much electronics and smog crap.

    • @00ninja00
      @00ninja00 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m considering getting one of the h3t alpha if I find one, and getting rid of the gladiator rubicon as I daily drive mines. The gladiator just isn’t the best daily. I’ve owned Tacoma’s, and I suspect any ifs front truck and solid roof and interior (much quieter in the Tacoma) would be a much better daily compared to the gladiator. Don’t get me wrong, the gladiator is excellent off road, and hard to beat at doing that, but it leaves a lot to be desired as a daily.

    Not much travel you get 10.2 in of travel up front that would be a lot for even for a coil over and in the rear 18 in articulation. Not travel articulation two different things I think I measured it at 12 in of solid travel maybe 14 that also depends on the shocks you're running in the rear. I don't like running gas charge on my truck in the rear it seems to skip and hop a lot over gravel or washboarded roads. I'm running up front Bilstein bypass shocks with remote reservoir and in the rear just some cheap rancho shocks.

  • @69sound81
    @69sound81 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Best hummer is H1 no questions asked. Then I would argue that the H3 alpha (suv) would be 2nd place just for the wheelbase. Finally the H3T alpha. And then any regular H3 series or any H2.
    I would love GM to go back on the fuel hummers and make a nice H3T with a 6 speed and portals (like the H1). 8 speed is a crap transmission and the 10 gear is too much for an offroad vehicle. 6 speed is the sweet spot. And they still have the 6L90 (and probably some 6.0 L96 vortecs or some amazing 6.2L LT engines) to use.
    But I would rather have a 2010 hummer H3 than a 2010 jeep wrangler.
