is the hummer h2/h3 reliable car .. im from europe and we dont have a lot of american cars here.. or what would you recommend to buy ..im moving to canada and for the first time in my life i dont know what car to get cause nothing except tdi is the same in eu and canada/us
@@maticsorn2784 The H2 isn’t necessary unreliable, but it’s not not the MOST reliable either, that goes for most American cars. I used to have a H3 Chevrolet Silverado which had the 6.0 Vortec engine in the H3 and a whole bunch of other GM vehicles. I never had any major issues even at 300,000miles+. It’s a really dependable motor. Obviously it’s not going to be on par with something form Toyota or Honda but still reliable nonetheless. I have to ask though why an H2, considering their are better off-road trucks from other companies. Edit: I don’t know much about the H3 but I’d expect the same reliability. You’d have to do some digging.
Ah the H3, brings me back to my dealership days as working as a tech. I lowkey want one. There is things a man should do in a life time, build a house, support a family, and own a Hummer...
I love my H3 Alpha! V8 power, leather interior, great sound system, good towing capacity, great off road and just down right fun to drive. I will keep it and drive it until the wheels fall off regardless of what others may say, GM listened and made a great little truck with the H3 Alpha.
I currently own the H 3T, but not the alpha and I absolutely love it the only problem I have is that it just can't climb. Strange that the hummer brand couldn't create a vehicle that was tough enough as a passing vehicle.
@@TheRopenNetwork Than there is something wrong with yours. While i'm not the biggest fan of the 5 cyl, Mine climbs great ! Got some 35's on it and i've never been stuck in and out of the woods.
Owning the sibling vehicle, the Z71 Colorado I would have to agree 100%. I can roll from the front to the back on a creeper. Only need the jack if a wheel had to come off.
My grandma has had an h3 for almost 18 years. 173k+ miles, the biggest problem was a leaky valve. Also, in the deep ice, all the cars were on the side of the road from sliding and it was just plowing through 😅
I have owned an H3 since December 2006. Realistically, I had the transmission rebuilt at 150K and other work done last year. I'm over 200K and I plan to drive this thing until it absolutely won't move! It still has mad off-road credibility and is instantly recognized on the road. Besides, the sub-woofer still blows me away!
I am a General Motors chassis engineer and had the privilege to work on the Hummer H3 program. I would like to make a few corrections to your statements in this video about the Hummer H3. 1. Contrary to your statement about the Hummer H3 sharing the same chassis and powertrain as the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, the Hummer H3 shared very few chassis components with the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. Similarities between the H3 and Colorado/canyon are that both were assembled at the GM Shreveport (Louisiana) facility on the same assembly line and both are body-on-frame trucks which offered the I5 engine and 4L60 automatic transmission. However, there are a lot of differences. The frame on the H3 was about 3” wider than the Colorado/Canyon, I believe the Aisen AR5 5-speed manual transmission gearing is different between the H3 and Colorado/Canyon , the H3 used a unique transfer case, propshafts, front differential, halfshafts and rear axle when compared to the Colorado/Canyon, as well as unique front suspension, brakes and fuel system. 2. You mentioned the Hummer H3 did not have any towing capacity. In actually, the Hummer H3 when equipped with the I5 engine & automatic transmission had a towing capacity of 4500lbs and when equipped with the V8 engine & automatic transmission had a towing capacity of 6000lbs. I am glad you published this video on the Hummer H3, as it is a great vehicle which was often overlooked. These trucks deliver a very macho driving experience and perform very well off-road. I wish the Hummer brand had survived!
@@98triffid GM had a family of of inline engines (I4/I5/I6) used the Colorado/Canyon and Trailblazer/Envoy. These were basically the same engine design with cylinders added for more power. I was not involved in the initial scoping of the H3; I assume the I5 was deemed the proper power output for this size of vehicle. I am sure the I6 would have required an increase in the length of the front compartment to fit. In 2000, a 5.3L V8 was offered with the Alpha package.
@@gilbertvehicleservices I see. I know that's totally a thing in V engine designs so it makes sense, it just seems weird to forgo an inherently balanced design. Packaging issues do matter.
Did you see this guy's earlier post?? "The time bomb was the 5cyl's automatic transmission cooler shared space with the radiator, often the coolant and transmission fluid got cross contaminated and the best you could hope for was a ruined trans. Get one before this happens, separate the two cooling systems, while upgrading each, and you've got yourself a 200k mile vehicle (in stock form)." I just bought a 2008 with 76,000 miles and I love it!! Is this something I should be concerned with and should consider doing?!?!
@@lilyeastersmomAll of these are normal things. If you have an automatic transmission the piping of your transmission ultimately goes through the bottom of the radiator. There may be an intermediate oil cooler stage but the fluids enter here and they exit here
I just bought a 2008 that only has 76,000 miles, and I absolutely LOVE it! At first, I did worry that it was a ridiculous purchase, but it is so much fun driving it! I was surprised at how excited people seem to be about the vehicle! I believe the prior owner was a Navy man who was out to sea a good bit of the time, hence the low mileage for a 10 year old vehicle. He clearly loved it and took excellent care of it! Mine has the cloth seats (which I think held up so much better than the leather ones I have seen in other H3s) and the rear and passenger seats look like no one ever sat in them. My father is going to get me additional mirrors that attach to the side mirrors to address the visibility problem! I am a 40-something mother who traded in her 12 year old Toyota Sienna Minivan and am thoroughly enjoying bopping around in this tank! The sunroof really is huge, and you feel like you are in a convertible with it fully open and the windows down! Thanks to Hoovies for the backup!
lilyeastersmom bro you have like luxury package but do you have adventure package or no? If no,did you try your hummer on offroad?does it do Good without e-lockers?
I just got one and I love it. The husband already had one, but I wanted one for myself!! It's like brand new, so even at ten years old, it's the nicest vehicle I've ever owned. Also, if we're ever overrun by zombies, we'll be totally prepared to go off road. I feel like it's really underrated.
@@denowesh3696 I do still have it and I go 90 mph sometimes, 80 pretty frequently. I'm sure it could go faster, but with only 5 cylinders it's hard to want to push it. It still is the nicest vehicle I've owned LOL
I live in Germany (us military) and some idiot down the street in my tiny European village brought one of these over from the states. It's pretty comical seeing an Hummer surrounded by euro micro city cars.
Kyle Nupson Funny you say that, I’ve been in Texas for 10 months and now I’m home in Germany. Dodge Rams are an attraction over here lol. My dream is to once own a Ford excursion here in Germany!
It is ridiculous. My neighbour in Poland did the same thing. Bought for his wife. He could have gotten a diesel X5 from the same year for the same money...
Same here. I see this one German guy once in a while driving around in a H2 all yellow (Including the wheels and trim...) and he thinks he is the biggest boss. One day I walked around town and saw an ad of this guy trying to rent it out for weddings. Why get a gas guzzler here in Europe when you cant afford it lol? Its ridiculous. There is also a white Dodge Challenger V6 with fake RT stickers. I just cringe when I see that one.
I live in Germany too. It's hilarious seeing people in big ass pickup trucks trying to navigate the villages and pass on the autobahn in construction zones 🤣
I've always had a big soft spot for Hummer tbh having grown up in the era of the H2 and falling in love with the H3 as a kid when they were new, as ridiculous as they were, thats kind of what I loved about them so much. One day that H3 alpha will be mine!
Back in 2007, my wife and I flew out to Denver so I could go to reminisce of my 2.5 years at Ft. Carson in Colorado Springs area back in 1973-1976 while in the U. S. Army. Our Plan was to rent a Jeep, then take a driving tour of CO, Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse, Devils Tower, Yellowstone, Jackson Hole ect. We ended up renting a new (2,100 miles) very nice silver H3. This was in June and was a beautiful time of year. We were surprised at the comfort and mileage was no to bad at 16-20. In a place called Bear Creek Pass that takes you into Yellowstone from the interstate from the east, that ended up in a flash white out 12” of snow in the three hr drive! On a mountain pass winding up and down hill road mind you, that had all but us turning around! Yea we had the best vehicle for the trip! We got over the mountain to pull into an overlook rest area after 3 hours of slow careful driving. In the rest area was a couple in a rented minivan, that had pulled in due to the dangerous roads! After seeing them 1/3 of the way up the wheels in snow we pulled over to see if they were ok. They were fine as they were smart enough to fill their gas tank at the last gas station 40 miles ago. But we’re not going to make it down the mountain, never mind out of the rest area. While we were there the snow plows came by, but only out in the road! The driver asked if I could tow him out, I told him I would but had no rope or strap of any kind and neither did he. So I told him I had an idea. With my driving skills and all of us packed into the minivan to weight it down I was able to back it out of the spot an headed in a straight line out, then tried to drive it out, but only made it about thirty feet after going back and forth with the traction control shut off. So I Back it up far enough to back the H3 up to it and showed him what I had done by turning off the traction control and being able to start off in 2nd gear in the automatic, then told him to follow in our tracks out of the rest area that would only mean a small curve. But at the edge where the plows had passed three abreast there was a wall of snow as high as the hood on the H3! But at least it was powdery. I put it in 4 hi traction control off and gunned it in drive flooring the gas. We ended up both making it out! We both stopped at the nearest place just 5 miles down the mountain where there was NO SNOW! They were very grateful! They could have been there for a long time! Because of a tree line back at the rest area you could not see them from the road! They ended up following us to the next nice restaurant and bought us dinner! We still exchange Christmas cards!! On that trip we took another awesome road after we left Jackson, to find a place called Hells Half Acre, google it is out if this world! The movie Space Troopers was filmed there. We also drove up an over one hundred mile dirt road to the geological center of Wyoming to an interesting place called The Hole In The Wall, that’s a blind Canyon the western outlaws used to hang low in! In areas of that road, where the snow drifts covered the roads in areas with more than five feet of snow, we had to climb off the road and drive on prairie grass along the road where there was no more snow! There was a lot of mud too. We came up to a group on quad runner that could not believe we were out there! I remember them leaving and catching back up to them only to see the incredulous looks on their face when they seen us drive up on them again once. After that they went a different way cause we lost them. Then after another hour we got back to The interstate well over a hundred miles north of where we started on that back road. About 10 miles from the highway, while going up a fairly steep dirt mountain road in the last few miles a warning light came in telling us we were getting a FLAT!!! Oh crap I did not want to have to change a tire in the dirt! But we made it out to The interstate to a nice level asphalt road to change the tire with what luck would have it to be a good spare! So I’m here to tell you I have a fond 2,790 miles in 12 days adventure with an Hummer H3! That was great Off Road, serious Off Road and plenty of high speed Wyoming interstate travels.
It's always nice to hear something good about my truck. I also drive a 06 H3. Good shape besides some normal maintenance I now have to do with 160 thousand miles on it. Five years going strong. 16 city 20 at most 21highway. I've been from Florida to Oklahoma City and Texas. That's how it got 160 thousand. I got it with 62 thousand lol. It's very reliable and if you're handy. Very easy to fix aka do it yourself. Majority of the normal things that go bad. I'm going to keep this truck until wheels fall off or until parts become obsolete lol. It has saved my ass plenty of times. Off road is definitely SO MUCH FUN! It's my every day vehicle. Therefore I take very good care of it. Just recently bought new A/T tires. And have to get a new rear main seal. Again first real serious repair. It's definitely worth the buy in my opinion. One more thing. I've driven a Jeep before. H3 long distance is a better ride. Jeep was way to stiff and I was so uncomfortable. H3 on long trips. Make you look good, feel good, feel safe, and makes you feel like you can get through whatever life brings you. I live in Florida. Going through high waters during hurricane season is a beautiful thing. Just knowing you going to be alright if it floods. I truly believe. Those that hate hummer really never really gave it a chance. Alot of it is drivers issues. If you take care of it. It will take care of you. Atleast my hummer is definitely a reliable vehicle. Next vehicle second vehicle I'm thinking of getting the Toyata FJ .
Love my H3T! Wish I could've afforded getting the Alpha back then, but gas prices were ridiculous! The only issue with the H3/H3Ts are those annoying rattling noises that none of the dealerships could figure out and would simply dismiss as being "normal H3 noise". I think one day I'll add the H2 SUT to my collection since I plan on keeping my H3T forever. Love the styling of these two trucks!
I've had an H3 for 5 years and I love it. I don't ever plan on selling it. One clarification from your video, it has a towing capacity of 4,500 pounds and tows really well (I've never exceeded that limit). I pulled a trailer weighing around 2 or 3 thousand pounds from Los Angeles to Pensacola Florida, and it had no problems at all, and I got around 15 to 16 mpg the entire way. I went slow because the trailer sucked (around 60 mph), going faster would have seen different mpg results. Obviously you're not going to use it for heavy duty towing, but no one expects a mid-size suv to do that anyway. All around it's been a great vehicle. I've had 3 jeep wranglers, and the H3 is far better. Honestly the jeeps are more fun, but the H3 is a better overall vehicle.
Tyler! You probably won't ever read this, but Hoovies garage is my favorite TH-cam channel, and it all started with this video. I was looking for info on my H3 (which I love, and have owned for 7 years) and I found this video. Anyway, you're the best!
I owned a fully loaded Hummer H3, it was my first vehicle when I turned 16, I loved the shit out of that thing, never had any problems with it, people thought I had payed 10 times what I actually did, and you always got some minivan driving dads attention because he was jealous, plus I never had to worry about a new one coming out, I miss that thing, I sold it to a friend who still has it and there still hasn't been any problems. I've lost count of how many people I have almost cut over on though due to the visibility.....it sucks.
The car that gets a lot of hate but is actually really nice. My husband's has been going strong for 170,000+ miles and has had very few issues. It has also saved us from a few flash floods and blizzards
I owned an H3 Alpha (the V8 version mentioned in the video). I bought it new, with huge incentives. It was a great off road vehicle. Just the right size, and more capable than most. It was also surprisingly quick, and very comfortable on long road trips. I honestly regret trading it. One of the best vehicles I've ever owned.
The H2’s have also held better value than expected. I’m finding some over 50k which is crazy money for a used Hummer. I think the styling cues as you said, will keep these around for a long time
I am still operating my 2007 H3 in the remote north and it often operates, looks and sounds better than most new trucks that roll up here after 6 months. New vehicles are so cheaply built! I would upgrade to a Colorado ZR2 Diesel but my wife loves it too much because of its reliability, fit and comfort, so I keep on using it. Wonder how many more years I will get out of it! I can pretty much repair anything on it with ease as parts are easy to get. I think I will install a huge led light bar to get it to the next level. H3 Owner.
I'm the very happy 2nd owner of an 09 H3 configured with the adventure package and manual transmission (very rare combo) so it has the 4:1 transfer case (69:1 crawl ratio), front and rear lockers, and iron front diff (instead of aluminium like previous years). I've fitted it with Schwartzy skid plates and rock sliders, and 35" STT Pro tires. It'll go anywhere a similarly configured rubicon can go, while handling better and running quieter on the highway, and looking good doing it.
That's what im in the hunt for too! :) But auto trans. I may be mistaken ,but I don't think jeep have both front & rear lockers! It makes going over anything possible ! U get your H3 stuck u must be stuck in a mud bog swamp 10 ft deep ! lol
My dad has the illusive Isuzu i-350 which is actually the original framework for the Chevy Colorado and GMC canyon. It was created for developing countries like Vietnam. That inline 5 cylinder is bulletproof. Not too many in the states with the Isuzu badging. I hope he never gets rid of it. :)
I actually own one...2006 automatic but it has the leather interior..it has much more towing capacity than the jeep wrangler and it feels a lot more sturdy..we tow a 24 foot rv with it and not a problem!
Last time we had a major blizzard in Chicagoland, everyone at my complex got up the next day to find their vehicles buried up over the doors (due to deep and blowing snow). Everything was at a standstill and I saw all my neighbors frantically trying to dig their vehicles out. None of which would even move an inch and that included several 4X4's. I walked down, waded thru the snow, jumped in my H3 and backed out of my spot, like it was a summer day. My neighbor had begun taking video so he could post it on the internet and laugh at my attempt. But, to his surprise, my H3 had no problem getting out of the snow hole it was in. He then posted the video on the internet with a different narrative. Others, not to be outdone, jumped in their SUV's and attempted the same thing. Not one could move more than 6 inches. Since I purchased it late 2008, I've have little trouble, replaced the brakes one time and it's served me quite well. However, it's now burning too much oil, or I have a leak somewhere. Of course, it is 10 years old. It can't stay pristine forever. Of the vehicles I've had, it is the best overall, aside from gas mileage, followed by a Camaro and an Acura Integra (yeah, not really a man's car). The worst vehicles I've ever owned were Dodge's, which, as soon as the warranty ran out began costing tons of money in repairs. After replacing the transmission in a Caravan that was only 4 years old, I vowed never to buy another Dodge. I'm not the type to claim one brand over another in some irrational mental delusion, but Dodge most certainly is an automobile I am not fond of. By the way, I didn't buy my H3 because of how it looked, although I do like that aspect. I bought it to handle all sorts of terrain, form highway to mountain logging/lease roads and even going off into the bush. I've driven it thru deep snow of course and water that would stall out most cars, as well as mud bogs and hill climbs. It's never failed any test. I have never been afraid to get it dirty and those who buy such a vehicle and then never take it anywhere but nicely paved roads where it's always clean and pretty...well, I don't see the logic.
@Hoovies Garage: I bought a Arctic White 2006 Hummer H3 yesterday which I am going to upfit into a true Overland vehicle. But I took it offroading today in Bone Stock configuration with the smaller 16" wheels and it is pretty damn good stock. I love this thing and agree is it is absolutely UNDER RATED!
👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿. I love this. Yes you're so right. It's under rated. Had mine for five years. Very reliable to me and I've been to Florida to Oklahoma City to Texas. Ride is unbelievable comfortable. Off road a beast. Making repairs. Easy if you're handy. Only go to professionals if I don't have tools to fix. Otherwise majority you can do yourself. They made it very do it yourself friendly.
What's model is best and what years cos I liked to get one soon..... people keep saying things I don't understand. Saying HUMMER is bad n not good in mileage. Please I need your advice ok
@@princesunny4090 They say the 2006 are the worst years to buy but I just bought a 2006 and I love mine. The 2007s and higher would be the ones to look for, but if you find a low mileage well maintained one it should be ok. The gas mileage is terrible I get like 10 miles a gallon but I don't mind. If you do your research and find one with a great carfax, you'll be happy. The ones people like the most are the Alpha models and the H3T trucks.
Same here, I used to own one, and I liked it ! It was an awesome offroad vehicle. I got an JK afterwards, only because of customization reason ! Now I got a New JLU !
The time bomb was the 5cyl's automatic transmission cooler shared space with the radiator, often the coolant and transmission fluid got cross contaminated and the best you could hope for was a ruined trans. Get one before this happens, separate the two cooling systems, while upgrading each, and you've got yourself a 200k mile vehicle (in stock form).
Great video, I love it, fun. Yeah back then suddenly hummers all went off the road and disappeared, some people even tried to ride motorcycle to save gas and got into accidents. Great intro music. I figure there must be many of these laying around in people's garages, and in the last year or two I'm seeing some on the road again, cheaper gas. It's a unique special looking vehicle that people really loved.
Vikings For Nationalism I've been watching nothing but the retro reviews for a few days now lol no car or suv or truck had any horse power back then lol
Julian Rada The 1983 Chevrolet Camaro was funny high output non fuel injected 5.0 V8 of a 190 BHP solid rear axle and rear drum brakes this was considered a muscle car in the 1980s by Americans.
My parents purchased a brand new Hummer H3 in 2006. came with the standard 5cyl automatic. It actually get descent mileage compared to my large F350 dually about 18mpg. The thing is a straight up beast off road and we take it out to the desert all the time when we bring our RV and four wheelers. It can easily tow a 16ft trailer loaded up with 4 wheelers at about 5,000lbs and handles soft sand with ease. We still own it to this day with minor repairs needed other than a new radiator and hoses. It is finally coming up on 100,000 miles and we will see how much longer it lasts.
I own the 08 Alpha H3, off road package - locking diffs. you get use to the visibility problem, really not that bad. I love it, this thing can go literally anywhere, rock climbing in 2 feet of snow, no problem.
As an owner of a hummer H3 2007 which did not have the rearview camera, The hummer H3 outperforms any jeep to date. One thing you forgot to mention which is huge to all hummer owners is the turning radius is SICK!! it is amazing to watch the sharp turns accurate precision getting into the most peculiar parking spots and every guy is standing in all and envy of this vehicle that you own. The hammer only has two negatives and that is it the sunroof Which clog constantly and leaked. A bigger rear window wiper and third side rear view mirrors heated and defogger.
rcairforceone well they went down about $20,000 in 10 years so they're only 1/3 of their original price. Not the best but not bad considering how much cars depreciate.
Bought a new Hummer H3 in 07 for my wife. Been offering to buy her a new vehicle for a dozen years but she wont give it up. Only drives it a thousand miles a year and costs more to insure than my new 22 F150 crew cab 4x4 ?????
I'm considering buying one tomorrow! An 07 with 130k. In today's market there's not many affordable options for mid size suvs. I just sold my 99 jeep xj because I wanted something more comfortable, and the jeep was starting to rust. And when it starts rusting, it doesn't stop without major restoration work. I think the h3's are interesting! I do some light offroading but mainly I need an suv just for moving house project stuff from home depot, my hitch carrier for snowblowers (i repair and sell them on the side), and cargo carrying for work. I work in IT and am always delivering printers, server cabinets, etc. It's' getting ridiculous trying to fit all that stuff in my 1987 mercedes 300d.
I love my H3. You get used to the windows pretty quickly and the tight turning radius is a godsend in cramped parking lots. And when Irma left 15" of water over our neighborhood roads, my neighbors were pretty damn jealous of my Pizza Hut runs.
The pillars are unique, but the fact that they are straight up and down and set well forward, makes it easier to see than other vehicles with side air bags and a highly sloped windshield. I love my 2008 H3 Alpha with the off road package.
Drive an H3T alpha if you can get ahold of one! Take it off road! Pretty incredible shit! I agree tho, discontinuing the hummer is a shame. It doesn't seem like 10 years ago but I lost a lot too! Everyone did. Everything I earned in the 10 years prior. Thats a whole other story tho. I was a line tech for Chevrolet/Hummer at the time. Before hummer school, before even seeing one in real life I figured they'd thrive, even if merely due to the fact that you could go home and tell your wife you got a hummer and when she found out it was a truck you were talkin about all would be forgiven! Plus you'd have yourself a new hummer! So I S.O.'d a new Alpha! Copper with all the bells and whistles. Man that was a nice ride!
dunhillsupramk3 Not just my opinion btw, numerous articles on it. The list primarily consisted of cars driven by younger kids. H3 was the top followed by the Scion tc. I'd imagine the H3 was pulled for having young rich kids doing young rich kid things and Scion tc was because everyone puts an aftermarket exhaust on it and does dumb 4 cylinder kid things.

I own a H3 and LOVE IT. I never gave hummers a second thought much less wanting to own one until I I test drove the H3 for shits and giggles. It was instant love for the little gas guzzling beast and has been put to the test in my line of work and held its own. I don't regret the buying it.
It's in my opinion worth it. Bought mine with 62 thousand miles now with 160 lol. Off road snow floods and it's my personal travel vehicle as well. Very reliable and long distance wise. Very comfortable rides so damn smooth! Take care of it and it will take care of you. I love mine fully loaded heated seats but no sun roof 😢😢. But yeah very comfortable ride.
@@johnathoncastro yes keep in mind every vehicle has issues. Some more than others. So don't wait for shit to break before replacing parts. It's ALREADY old. I have a 06. So little by little start replace all old parts. I started with replacing all fluids over time. It's expensive lol. I've replace radiator and fan clutch as well as water pump. All once I took off. You can tell it was on its way out anyways being so old. Next month I'm doing rear main seal and upper head gasket. I've already replaced ignition coils and plugs. Most expensive fix was the transfer case. It has a plastic fork that goes bad. Check the hummer forum. I didn't catch it in time so I spent 800 to fix and replace with a aluminum fork. My co worker has same truck with 300 thousand miles and it runs better than mine. He told me what he did. Which was what I told you. Mine has 160 thousand. When I bought it. It has 64 thousand.

@@Quis85 thanks i too live in florida in port saint Lucie on the east coast. The only thing that i know needs to be replaced are all bump stops...they are cracked. But this thing runs so smooth and for a 5 cylinder its fast.
My 2006 H3 has 354,000 miles on it, I have replace many parts, but it just keeps on going, I love it. Had it off road, hauled deer, pulled trailers, I have a 5 Speed Manual. I suspect I will have to have the transfer case chain replaced soon, and at 400,000 miles I may replace the engine, as it has definitely earned a retirement.
Looked up the h3t out of curiosity. ....not gunna lie, if I ever -have- to get a pickup truck I'm probably going to get one of those, that's a cool looking truck
Hummer did learn from its mistake on the H2 design Hoovie. Check out the 08-09 H2's they're beautifully designed, they've kept their value pretty well and are more powerful. Please review one!! (Btw did Lucy answer the door?)

I came back and both Hummers fired right up and they pulled out the tractor and my Jeep that wouldn't start( mice chewed through the wires) So not sure why everyone bitches about the Hummers..when you live and work in northern 🇨🇦they've never let me down in 12 years of ownership Cheers from Moosnee,Ontario
Thanks for the comments albeit silly at times but that's cool. I have an H3 like the one in your story. 160000 miles and runs great. Yes, I would like more power but it's an "H3". BTW, I just polished it with TopCoat F11. Nice stuff!
@Jack Torrance h3 Alpha was a good rig..I have had dozens of Jeeps,FJ40s/60s,4runners,FJ cruisers etc etc..I would take the H3 alpha over any Jeep, any day...way more comfortable, mpg the same, but the Alpha could actually real world pull something and drive decent while doing it.
I just traded for a 2008 H3 which has / 222 thousand miles on it. It doesn't have a leak of oil or anything else anywhere on it and I love it. I'm six foot two it's the most comfortable vehicle I've ever driven I like the way it handles I have no complaints I'm going to restore it completely and when the engine goes I'm going to drop a crate engine in it
We are on our third hummer h3 and now have the alpha... we absolutely love it!!! I wish the H4 had come out. People got the same mpg in their Toyota Sequoia as the h2. It was all propaganda. We routinely got up to 20mpg in our h3 and even up to 18 with the v8. I am hoping that they will bring it back some day.
I've driven every Hummer model. The H1's pure size and low center of gravity make it a very fun offroader (It was actually an AM General Hummer, which is the same thing, the H1 name is just from when GM licensed it.) I HATE the H2. Offroading it was genuinely a scary experience any time I went sideways because the center of gravity is too high, and road driving was impossible to have fun with, but the H3 was my all time favorite Hummer. It was able to take corner's much better than I expected and is actually a little fun on the road, but offroading… WOW. The H3 is very small and maneuverable and 9 times out of 10 has the golden 410 gearing, and if not I think the other option was 365 (don't quote me) and both of those ratio's are amazing and highly sought after in the offroading world. The best way to describe the H3 is it just WORKS, it's actually a very practical vehicle especially if you considered it's STOCK capabilities along with it's ability to be daily driven. I actually have 2 friends who daily drive them and they've been in love with their H3's just as much now (multiple years of ownership) as they did when they bought them off the lot. Not to mention the 5 cylinder is really reliable too. It's an amazing vehicle and definitely opens doors to another brotherhood much like the Jeep's. Thanks for reading my review to anyone who does xD
I love the Hummer H3, always have. I would absolutely love an one with the upgraded 3.7L 5cyl, and I wouldn't change a thing... well if I ever plan on going off pavement, I would probably had 33 in tires but that will be it. The H3T was just too damn cool, too.
The under powered 5cylinder can be fixed by getting an H3 with it's optional 5.3 vortec V8 engine which makes it pretty darn fast and it's known for being very reliable, not to mention the satisfaction of the throty V8 exhaust rumble.
I have an H3T Alpha and I really like it! It climbs mountains like a mountain goat, and I use it to haul stuff for work and to pull trailers every now and then. The big Alpha V8 makes all the difference.
Interesting video - and a 5 cylinder is interesting, I didn’t know GM had ever made a 5. Been used to the 5 cylinders in my Volvos and they’re great engines.
RichieT5 The Volvo five cylinders are great engines. I have a V50 T5 M66 and I love it. I, like you, had never heard of the GM five cylinder, so i did a little research. They are 3.7 liters, far bigger than the Volvo 2.4's and 2.5 turbos. The GM 5 is also known to have problems, including a few instances of spun bearings.
Man I've torn volvo engines... Those pistons are huge ! Idk why volvo makes big pistons like that. Also their low compression with turbos will likely last 500k miles or more.

(if you know) what was the rationale behind the I5 vs an I6? That used to just be a weird Volvo thing.
Get one before this happens, separate the two cooling systems, while upgrading each, and you've got yourself a 200k mile vehicle (in stock form)."
I just bought a 2008 with 76,000 miles and I love it!!
K. R. V. Reading this was more interesting than the last movie I’ve watched!

I think the H1 outshines just about every SUV ever made. The thing was a tank and so gorgeous.
@Bobby b I have only ever seen on H1 on the roads in person before but it looked amazing. Maybe because where I live it's so extremely rare perhaps?
Same thing I said. Jeep's more fun but H3 is just better.

Richard Colbert I love mine, had it for 3 years now. It is pretty damn good stock, haven’t had it stuck yet.
As a proud H3 owner I thank you for this amazing video.😁🇺🇸🇺🇸
"most repossessed vehicle of all time", damn gta micheal intro makes a lot of sense now.
I thought those were fj cruisers
Michael had the BeeJay XL, which looks more like an FJ Cruiser. The “Patriot” or Mammoth is based on the Hummer.
H3 suffered from H2 hate. Honestly a damn good 4x4 (previous owner). I since moved to Jeep, but I wouldn't have mind a modern H3/H3T.
Same here, I used to own one, and I liked it ! It was an awesome offroad vehicle. I got an JK afterwards, only because of customization reason ! Now I got a New JLU !
The h3 is pretty good but the timing for it couldn't have been worse, wouldn't you agree ?
I tested a bunch of these when I was looking for an suv recently and was extremely impressed
I own one and LOVE it. ! ! !
Plan to maintain it and pass it on to my boys as a family legacy.

The 1983 Chevrolet Camaro was funny high output non fuel injected 5.0 V8 of a 190 BHP solid rear axle and rear drum brakes this was considered a muscle car in the 1980s by Americans.
Vikings For Nationalism in today's time a prius puts out more power lol
I’ve had mine for a few months now and I love it!
I own the 08 Alpha H3, off road package - locking diffs. you get use to the visibility problem, really not that bad. I love it, this thing can go literally anywhere, rock climbing in 2 feet of snow, no problem.
I would watch this for 7 more minutes easily . Why so short?
As an owner of a hummer H3 2007 which did not have the rearview camera, The hummer H3 outperforms any jeep to date.
One thing you forgot to mention which is huge to all hummer owners is the turning radius is SICK!! it is amazing to watch the sharp turns accurate precision getting into the most peculiar parking spots and every guy is standing in all and envy of this vehicle that you own.
The hammer only has two negatives and that is it the sunroof Which clog constantly and leaked. A bigger rear window wiper and third side rear view mirrors heated and defogger.
Hoovie you should get the H3T! It's a pretty cool truck!
no its not
'
They really are... And they've held their value too.
rcairforceone well they went down about $20,000 in 10 years so they're only 1/3 of their original price. Not the best but not bad considering how much cars depreciate.
shhhh... he may buy it, he has a problem...
Itll always be a piece of shit no matter how cheap
Thanks for not bashing on the H3. I have a 2006 and love it.
Should've bought this instead of the H2
Does it make you look like a bigger douchebag?
@@iphone202020220 I mean. The H2 he bought is very plastic fantastic. This thing is just mostly plastic fantastic
@Striker Molina don't get the V8 for gas. Get the v5 if you care about gas.
@@josem1596 Its not a 'V5". It's an inline 5. Technicality, but still....
@@josem1596 What the hell?
I’ve had the i5 and the 5.3 v8 H3 Alpha. The Alpha was honestly one of my favorite trucks!
"High gas prices"... In Germany we have to pay 1,30-,50 Euros per liter...
How many gallons is that in Bald Eagles??
@@modernoptix94 like 6 or 7 dollars a gallon.
Bought a new Hummer H3 in 07 for my wife. Been offering to buy her a new vehicle for a dozen years but she wont give it up. Only drives it a thousand miles a year and costs more to insure than my new 22 F150 crew cab 4x4 ?????
Tyler Hoover: The Hummer H3 is much better than you think
Doug DeMuro: *TRIGGERED*
The one Doug reviewed was the h2 and that was terrible but this one is better than that crap
From a guy who owns a pimped prii😂🙏
I love my H3. You get used to the windows pretty quickly and the tight turning radius is a godsend in cramped parking lots. And when Irma left 15" of water over our neighborhood roads, my neighbors were pretty damn jealous of my Pizza Hut runs.
Hoovey you know how long I have wanted you to do this? *like for fucking ever*
The pillars are unique, but the fact that they are straight up and down and set well forward, makes it easier to see than other vehicles with side air bags and a highly sloped windshield. I love my 2008 H3 Alpha with the off road package.
It is a shame that the Hummer brand never matured into a Jeep competitor.
This was the most pulled over vehicle in 2009.
why????
dunhillsupramk3 Not just my opinion btw, numerous articles on it.
Still today in Australia

I own a H3 and LOVE IT. I never gave hummers a second thought much less wanting to own one until I I test drove the H3 for shits and giggles. It was instant love for the little gas guzzling beast and has been put to the test in my line of work and held its own. I don't regret the buying it.
I used this video to justify buying an H3
Update: I fucking hate this thing. Someone please save me from this money pit piece of shit
I just bought an 09 hummer h3 with 41kmiles. I really like it. I hope to keep it awhile. Anything i should look out for?
@@johnathoncastro mine has so many miles because it's my every day and travel vehicle. I live in Florida. I've been to Oklahoma, Texas, etc. Long distance I rides like Cadillac lol. Just a truck lol. 16 city 20highway. If you're handy. Majority of the work. You can do yourself. Hummer did a great job. Making damn near everything where you can easily fit it your self.
Ryukachoo I love my h3t and its so rare I get looks all the time and people stop me at the gas station regularly to talk to me about my truck
U have no taste in cars
I had one of these for a few years. I will own another one. This was hands down my favorite SUV and Always will be.
Hummer did learn from its mistake on the H2 design Hoovie. Check out the 08-09 H2's they're beautifully designed, they've kept their value pretty well and are more powerful. Please review one!! (Btw did Lucy answer the door?)
D T I own 2 Hummers and a jeep up here in northern 🇨🇦 and I'm not sure why the hate... in the logging Bush camp my Hummers are less fuel hungry than the jacked Fords/Rams ..
also I've own my H1 and H2 Hummer since new...
Never left me stranded ,never had major break downs...
My Jeep Rubicon has had tranny & rear end replaced already..left me stranded in the Bush more than one time..
I've left both Hummers in the camp(near ChurchHill 🇨🇦) for 6 months in -40c when I got hurt and was airlifted out..
I came back and both Hummers fired right up and they pulled out the tractor and my Jeep that wouldn't start( mice chewed through the wires)
So not sure why everyone bitches about the Hummers..when you live and work in northern 🇨🇦they've never let me down in 12 years of ownership
Cheers from Moosnee,Ontario
Luke Hanson Photography yes Hummers are really reliable. They're really "Like Nothing Else"
Thanks for the comments albeit silly at times but that's cool. I have an H3 like the one in your story. 160000 miles and runs great. Yes, I would like more power but it's an "H3". BTW, I just polished it with TopCoat F11. Nice stuff!
I'm just here to read the Jeep fan boy comments about how Jeep is better. They crack me up 🤣🤣🤣
@Jack Torrance h3 Alpha was a good rig..I have had dozens of Jeeps,FJ40s/60s,4runners,FJ cruisers etc etc..I would take the H3 alpha over any Jeep, any day...way more comfortable, mpg the same, but the Alpha could actually real world pull something and drive decent while doing it.
Jeep is chrysler trash
What planet are you from. The wrangler is far superior
Haha where do you think the jeep got the idea of the gladiator from. They got it from the hummer h3T alpha
I just traded for a 2008 H3 which has / 222 thousand miles on it. It doesn't have a leak of oil or anything else anywhere on it and I love it. I'm six foot two it's the most comfortable vehicle I've ever driven I like the way it handles I have no complaints I'm going to restore it completely and when the engine goes I'm going to drop a crate engine in it
Hoovie buy a Hummer off a government auction site.. I have seen a few that would be perfect for a couple of videos.
“ I didn’t buy this” the words I’m surprisingly disappointed to hear...
same
I've driven every Hummer model.
Your review is the best I have read so far and is golden💙🤜🤛
Oh wow... you got the front tire on a big rock!
Now... drive forward...
🤣
I love the Hummer H3, always have. I would absolutely love an one with the upgraded 3.7L 5cyl, and I wouldn't change a thing... well if I ever plan on going off pavement, I would probably had 33 in tires but that will be it. The H3T was just too damn cool, too.
The under powered 5cylinder can be fixed by getting an H3 with it's optional 5.3 vortec V8 engine which makes it pretty darn fast and it's known for being very reliable, not to mention the satisfaction of the throty V8 exhaust rumble.
I bought a 2006 manual h3 and still use it as a daily driver. Nothing ever goes wrong with it. Pleasantly surprised.

I have an H3T Alpha and I really like it! It climbs mountains like a mountain goat, and I use it to haul stuff for work and to pull trailers every now and then. The big Alpha V8 makes all the difference.
The windows are tiny.
I got 1 of 48 H3T alphas built in 2010. I love this truck. Turns alot of heads too.
RichieT5 it was designed by Isuzu, it was used in a lot more vehicles than you'd expect.
Yeah, a Volvo 2.5T with a low-pressure turbo is probably the most reliable turbo engine out there. Have a V70 with it.
Man I've torn volvo engines... Those pistons are huge ! Idk why volvo makes big pistons like that. Also their low compression with turbos will likely last 500k miles or more.
Its the Vortec 3500...sounds pretty good honestly for an SUV
I’d only get a military humvee reconditioned. For off-roading only. In large spaces only. They suck for everything else.
I love my Hummer H3 and can definitely pick up lots of females and Party Like a Rockstar!!!😉
1:48 I think you're referring to the inline 6 cylinder engines which the Jeep used not an inline 5

The H3 has the inline 5.
