If you need to find these ''metal discs'' because you lost them they are called 'dome switches' and/or 'PCB Surface Mount Tactile Membrane Switches'. Also its easier to secure these discs directly to the board... many have used 'magic tape' for this but electronic glue around the outer edge may work also. Thanks for the video Redneck Mfg.
Where can I find this switches at?? I need to replace mine asap as to they don't click anymore like the video shows lol. Mine aren't round anymore they r flat?
I found the same problem with my 2015 dodge dart. AND. That's the way I was going to fix my problem. Good to find someone who thinks like I do. Just hope it is a long time/ permanent repair.
Thank you, sir. I was trying to figure out why mine wasn't working. I had changed the battery , and after watching this, I saw that the metal disc was on another part of the control.
Just found this video. RTV is a great idea, because you are very correct in the fact that the adhesive must remain pliable! Superglue or epoxy will prevent that steel disk from being able to "pop" when the button is depressed. Might add, if anyone here is attempting this, pay close attention to the direction you place the disc onto the rubber button as there is a top and a bottom. Thanks for the video!
Tom's Key sells replacement key fobs with a programmer for 100 bucks, which is half of 200 but it's still more expensive than fixing the fob itself like this.
I had the same problem with my key fob on a 2014 Ram Bighorn 1500 where the horn starting honking randomly, I ended up needing a different key fob after taking it apart and cleaning just like you did in your video. I think the p.c. board was the cause.!!!
Now you can search how to make your truck use those 4 other contacts. Top Right of those is the Remote Start. Not sure what the other 3 are, but I'm sure the $200 programmer that someone makes to "hack" into the Ram computer, can make them do almost anything that is electronic and controllable by the truck by remote.
Quick fix: Tape! Disassemble your key fob. Take off all the little metallic domes. Figure out exactly where they need to contact the board. Then tape them down to the board. I tried super glue at first. The hot glue. Then I found your video and figure out I was doing it all wrong. Tape is the quickest fix!
Happened to both of my 2015 3500 keys, both unlock buttons. I ordered two fobs on the internet and gonna swap the rubber piece that the discs are so called secured to
Nice job getting all those contacts clean and back in place. I've run mine through the washer and dryer a couple of times with no problem so far. Every time I do it , I know it will be the last...ha ha
Nice, getting it to work 3 times 😊. My jeeps key fob battery went flat and the dealer wanted $100 to pair it back to the car and $10 for the battery 😠. I showed my discussed and he charged me 50 bucks.

In Canada it's 460 plus tax to replace lol
I hope whoever designed the fob is no longer working in the automotive industry.

What kind of tape? Thin transparent like you use to wrap Christmas presents?
Now there. Both keys went out same time. Will try you advice! Here is hoping
Yup, you did right! Have done the exact same thing several times. Actually not a bad idea to do occasionally anyway....hmmm. Easter project.
Thank you, had the same problem.
Hope it works for me also

Right on.... good as new!!!!
In Canada 342.00 from dealer plus programing
How's the silicone holding up?
I accidentally removed the emergency key lock mechanism and it flew apart and now I can't figure out how to put it back in.
Key fob is 60.00 at dealer, programming 75.00 at dealer. Highway robbery. But “ legal “?
Did your key fob have the little screw where the valet key is...?
Yes
Muito obrigado
Happened to my Dodge Charger and tried this still can’t get in the car. Ordered new fobs prepaying the new silicon works with the old circuit board 😭
Thanks Bro, took mine apart yesterday and was wondering if those discs came loose! You think a dab of honey would work? 🤣👍

Having this problem as i watch this
How did you take it apart
pull your skeleton key out of fob and insert it on the end and twist the key between the two halves it will pop the case in half
Mine had a small screw that had to be removed once the key was pulled out
My fob is doing the exact same thing. It's 300 dollars for a new one
Thanks
Welcome
After programing those key fobs are $500 each
Great video! Horrible design.
I cleaned my disks and applied Krazy Glue because that’s what I had at the time… will see how long it lasts.
The silicone does not hold. Had sane oribkem within 24 hours
$254 plus 90 to program,I was able to fix mine the same way
oh man thats crazy what they charge...
Very helpful, thank you. #redneckstrong
