      @@maknstormmoney2343 Hey man, I could try and help you out online, but if you’re stuck away from home, your best and fastest way back home might be to call a shop to quickly diagnose your vehicle and fix it likely with a shop computer that you won’t have access to on your own. It might cost a pretty penny but Atleast you’ll make it home safe and sound. By the sounds of it, your key fob could be completely dead or forgotten / unreadable by the truck for what ever reason. If you need a new key, which might be your best bet, you should reach out to a locksmith that does vehicles in your area in Pennsylvania

    The thing that fixed my issue was folding up a post-it note and putting it behind the mother board over the area where the battery rests. I noticed it was not making contact with the back of the key fob. I'll give you an update if it fails anytime soon. There is still no help on this issue 3 years later, but I'm happy I found you video as it got me to open up my fob one more time.

    My remote start quit working except when removed from the case similar to your issue. I tested at what point the remote quit working when putting it back together. When put into the hard plastic it quit working. I assumed the board was possibly flexing causing poor contact/micro fracture somewhere on the board. Next I fashioned a brace from a popsicle stick running lengthwise on the side of the remote start button. It was trimmed gradually until the whole assembly snapped together without additional force so as not to stress the board. This solved the problem and the remote again works as it did new. It may protect the board from future failures of the other buttons, who knows.

      No problem Bruce, thank you for taking the time to reach out! I would say the dealer is a decent place to go. I'm planning on making a part 2 to help some more people with new tips I've learned and even received from people such as yourself in the comments of this video! I'll give you a sneak peak at some of the info tho.. The dealer is your best bet I would think if you want the nicest and no corners cut brand new key fob, however you could potentially save money getting a cheap fob from amazon or some website of your choice and then paying a locksmith to install it as some have the ability to program cars now! You'd have to weigh the options personally. The "Amazon" fob might not end up being as nice or lasting as long for instance. If you are planning on going the dealer route, order your fob now even if you aren't sure if you want it quite yet..! I just ordered one and it took a full calendar year to come in! Also my Ram is a 2013, Thank you again! Have a great day!

      Every time I see this comment I laugh but I feel I should finally address it. When i was younger and made the transition from keys to fob, I didn’t know how it worked. Although most people would feel embarrassed to say it, they’re potentially in the same boat if this is their first fob or even if it’s just their first time having issues with a fob. When making the battery portion of the video I was focused on people that have no idea what they’re doing or elderly persons who need help primarily that aren’t just going to start fiddling with things on the circuit board without help. Just because you’re aware of how to change your battery doesn’t mean everyone else does and I wasn’t going to ignore this group of people who needed help just because I knew some people would be more knowledgeable. Tons of people don’t even know what a watch battery looks like so I hope yourself or anyone else that may have taken insult to me showing everyone else how to switch their battery can see the greater picture and understand that this info has helped many people and that makes it worth sharing.

    • @DeoneSoBord
      @DeoneSoBord  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha at least you know it’s warmed up and ready to go by the time you hop in! 😂
      I personally haven’t heard of that issue with the factory remote start other than accidental presses which I myself have fallen victim to on occasion haha. Although if anyone else has that issue I hope they correct me here and can maybe help you out more!
      I would just recommend trying if you haven’t yet to make it impossible it could be a accidental press. Even it being pushed on funny in your pocket by your wallet or something while you stand from the couch could set it off potentially. Put keys on the key hook when not in use and being careful on way out. Hold it in your hand to make sure not to press any button on the remote start and just humour yourself for 3 months or so being extra careful. This is best case scenario! See if you notice it running and if not than perfect! That’s the easiest fix, if not it might be complicated to figure out..
      You could try tearing it apart to look for a build up of debris between the button and the rubber pad. Maybe dirt or debris got inside and is making it easier for this button to be pressed. Also you could potentially think up a solution to modify the inside or outside of your remote in order to make it more difficult to start so it is less likely to happen at random anymore.
      Last and worst resort. If it wasn’t accidental presses and the remote is clean of debris and such increasing the likely hood of it going off, your remote might be malfunctioning and sending additional signals when not demanded by a button press. That would be very hard to figure out and I can’t say I have enough knowledge on how to figure that one out. I would assume water/dirt/debris/corrosion getting on the circuit board could lead to microchip issues if it isn’t just a defective unit. In that case you might have to choose between dealing with the random starts and having your current remote disabled and a new one installed. You could maybe ask a tech with access to the body module to turn off the command start feature but that would be quite unfortunate if you live in cold Canada like myself haha!
      Again I really hope for your sake it is just accidental pressing of the remote start button whilst in your pockets! Definitely easier to change habit than fix a malfunctioning remote and a heck lot cheaper haha! Best of luck, hope anything I said can help you and thank you for the kind words! If you wish please share your future findings here to help someone else out down the line and hope you have a great day!

Other wards they could erase a tune if you have one like I do... Ask me how I know they might do that by accident haha. The last time I used my key fob it was working 100%. I had an issue with my original Ram fob (2012 Ram 1500 Laramie), The battery would only last a couple months, Knowing these are supposed to last a while, at least 12-18 months and longer, So after some thinking 🤔. I took the fob apart to see if anything was wrong, ya know, rust, debris or anything loose inside, Come to find out, it was corroded with dirt and green stuff around the connections, So I took electrical connection cleaning spray, and a paint-brush cleaning brush ( with plastic bristles NOT metal, the metal kind will rip it apart) and after cleaning it really well for a few mins, and with new batteries, I haven’t had any short lived batts since. Still using the original fob 10 years later.
    Try spraying it with fast evaporating electrical connection cleaner, might clean something the human eye cant see. Never know.

Tons of other people have found value in the video and it has helped many avoid the dealership. If the solutions in the video or the comments don’t work than sorry about your luck but you will have to go to the dealership unless you would rather spend thousands on equipment to fix the problem rather than a few hundred spent at the dealer. The video is formatted for the public that don’t want to spend thousands so there fore such as most people would I chose the dealer route. I avoid them at all costs as well haha!! Haha 😆 Everyone has a different issue with their fob. I’ve repaired my fob using the strategies I show earlier in the video and then I gave that tip on how to remote start even when your fob is on the verge of failure and hardly works anymore. I’ve researched the past year all over the internet and put everything I ever found in this video to hopefully help you guys save hours of searching all over and never finding great answers or a simple video to help you. When my fob stopped working again* I had two options at the dealership to try and fix it. With that being said for me the only solution was the dealership this time. For someone else, they may find success in the first 3 tips and not have to buy a new fob. Later I do give reasons why I might suggest it though. Thanks for watching! 😄

      If you’ve tried and nothing in the video helped then check the comments. As mentioned in the video, this is now a hub for others to comment their solutions to help grow the knowledge on a very ignored topic. Maybe the dime trick or compressed air will help as it has for others.
      Everyone’s remote issue is unique. My remote was gone to a point where there was literal damages on the circuitboard causing it to malfunction. Might have been an overload event inside a component or something. So unless you expect me to become an expert in micro technologies and teach you how to rebuild a key fob circuit board even though a trip to the dealer would likely be much cheaper and save you time, your comment doesn’t make sense.
      Hope you find a solution in the comments and lighten up your mood. Thanks.
