yes, the potato in Biryani started by Nawab Wajid Ali Shah, the eleventh and the last King of Awadh, holding the position for 9 years, from 13 February 1847 to 11 February 1856. The Nawab was exiled to Garden Reach in Metiabruz, then a suburb of Kolkata, where he lived out the rest of his life on a generous pension and there his chef had started the tradition of mixing Potato along with meat (and egg as optional) in the Biryani...and now its called the famous Kolkata style Biryani. Its non spicy but balanced aromatic in nature.

Andhra Biryani different hai, S India k dusre states meiN kuchh ajeeb hee hai Biryani. Dhaka (Bangladesh) ka biryani or Kachchi Biryani bilkul alag hota hai.

It's not only biryani, we Bengalis put potatoes in mutton/chicken/fish curries as well. Koi bhee saalan, curry without aaloo achha nahiN lagta (except a few traditional dishes).

One thing I don’t like about Kolkata. Dogs everywhere, they dirty our streets. I don’t mind crows, red kites,sparrows, pigeons, mynahs, doves, cats, monkeys, cows or even flock of goats and sheep. And in the evening you see the bats.
In Mumbai also there are many Iranian hotels where you can sit for hours and nobody will ask you to leave. People just relish on Bun maska with a cup of pani cum chai and enjoy there time. I just love it 👌
