I recommend his speech at the invitation on St, Xavier's College in Bombay on LEADERSHIP, very interesting and wish I had listened to it in my 20's or 30's but even in my mid 70's it teaches you a lot. Great man and I had the opportunity of seeing him in person in 1965 at very close quarters. A great man. RIP Sam Bhadur.

No doubt Nehru was a trash and failure but since we didn't had option specially after Sardarji death we couldn't do anything. But man his daughter was iron indeed. She thrashed US President Nixon on 1971 war. No doubt Sam sir did exceptionally well on field but it would had been impossible without her diplomatic and strong leadership. She might be wrong on multiple incidents(emergency) but at that time no one could have taken such strong leadership.

If he wanted he could have easily freed pok region from kashmir but due to geopolitical pressure the govt ended the military operation with getting a surrender from pak general.
Field Marshall has no retirement. And Field Marshall has the power to take over the country from the elected PM. That's why nobody else was made a Field Marshall after him.
