I grew up in Darjeeling and as a kid our pastime used to be running along side the toy train and jumping on and off. Nowadays kids have more entertainment options so this has become obsolete.

@@mrinalmishra9123 Well there are different cultures and customs among different parts of Bengal. Kolkata (which is situated in the southern part of Bengal) being the capital of our state, it always attracts certain stereotypes for all the 'Bengalis' of different regions of the state which in reality do not go with all the Bengali people of our state. Growing up in Siliguri, being surrounded by the hills and different tribal communities or ethnic groups, my childhood was spent very differently compared to the Bengalis of southern part of the state. Therefore, while watching the video, I could relate to it the way a southerner of my state wouldn't have been able to. Certain experiences are exclusive to certain locations. Also last but not least, North Bengal is part of West Bengal itself.

I've spent a part of my childhood in Sikkim and we used to visit Siliguri and Darjeeling quite frequently. This brought back so many fond memories.
Aap sahi bol rhi thi. Aaj se 30 sal age coal engine tha. 1st time when I travelled derailing i was only 7yrs old . Now I am 62 yrs. It was a memorial journey for me . Mere sath mere Pappa &Mom tha . App ne sahi bola tab 2 engine n 4 boggy tha us train me .

Blogger is telling that price of the train journey is high. But, I don't think so. Prices are fixed considering cost and other qualitative factors. First of all this train is iconic and takes more time due to its too much zig zag route and gradient. So, cost of running this train is high and secondly these trains are used by tourists who come to see these iconic things and ride once in lifetime.
I visited Darjeeling on 31st December 2020, but via personal car, btw at that time, this toy train service were closed due to Covid-19. Btw really loved the Darjeeling and the culture was totally different like western.

The price may be high but one needs to recover the operational cost also else it will be a loss making venture. The number of coaches and people travelling is also very less so per passenger cost will be more. There are other options also but every good thing has a price so anyone wanting to experience this will need to pay the charges.
The video hasn't shown the best part of the route, which is Batasia loop and the Gurkha memorial.

Most beautiful scenery is near Darjeeling, mainly from ghoom to Darjeeling. But as night sheds he can't capture the scene.
Mozam wo fog nahi tha Darjiling main badal hain wo.. badla k bech main se train jata hain.
Have been to both Jalpaiguri and Siliguri, but never to Darjeeling. Toy Train is still in Bucket List. There is lot of scope to develop Jalpaiguri-Darjeeling Toy Train Route to make it at par with some of the most beautiful European toy-train routes, Govt of India needs to work on it. New Jalpaiguri is the biggest gateway station that connects Indian mainland with North-East.

As per history it was origally to be a diesel engine but it could not pull later steam power was imported, the present diesel engine was in matheran
