- Heres sweet adorable Mara on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Mara is on to promote her movie "Miracle On 34th Street". Please excuse what seems to be a few brief video glitches. This is from my collection.
She deserves so much respect for not messing up her life with drugs and alcohol like most child actors do and considering her mom died when she was 9 years old making Matilda and she still went on like a fighter to make the Best Movie Ever, What a Legend!!!
+Glenn Bill yeah different to macaulay culkin,he ended on drugs!
xDD hahhahahaaahahahah
Well probably the best thing she did for her life was leaving acting while she was still a kid. Who knows what would have happened if she stayed in this industry.
lindsay lohan basically, that's unless some hollywood pedo gets to her first-- I don't know much about the parents ,but they are usually the ones to benefit
I'm so glad there was a happy end to this story. To lose your mother, who is your best friend at that age, then to go on and become an accomplished writer... respect!
She was a doll. Her voice couldn't been more adorable. She’s basically a more energetic Matilda in real life lol
I agree! Mara’s voice as a little reminds me soooo much of the voice of this girl I was friends with as a child. My friend did not look like Mara at all, but she had sort of a nasal lisp voice like Mara.
Hey Kris Sanders we have the same name
Her voice sounds just fine here.
Asking a child about boyfriends never sits right with me.
I think sometimes it’s to get a funny reaction from the kids. But other times the adult takes it past that and it becomes weird. But he didn’t seem to keep talking about it here I was so scared he was going to though 🤣
Same. Especially girls. It hypersexualizes the relationships they have with boys. Works the same the other way around. It makes it incredibly uncomfortable growing up to keep friendships with men. As I am sure it affects men's relationship with women that are platonic.
She mentioned recently in an interview how it made her uncomfortable to be talking about boyfriends at this age and how the media sexualizes girls. You can tell she’s embarrassed and Leno keeps pressing her about it. Dude, she’s in 2nd grade, why is it normal to think she’d have a boyfriend?
It used to be a part of culture and the whole point was to get a funny reaction
It's disgusting. Asking a 8 or 9 year old this is just gross. Honestly any age as a kid would be uncomfortable to be asked that.
Wow, what an intelligent little girl. Reminds me of a young Dakota Fanning.
Shes so intelligent. Isnt she six in this? I don't even speak this eloquently now. :')
I think she was 7, since she was born in 1987. But I agree, she was so well-spoken and eloquent for her age!
A She also reminded me of Madeline Zima when she was a child actress Zima had a supporting role in ‘Hand that Rocks the Cradle’. I have to say that they both, including Dakota Fanning were so adorable
She's ben Shapiro's maternal first cousin. Not even kidding
Joe throgmartin what?
oh boy the 90s Christmas dresses haha
And what's with them, explain please?))
??
NO idiot
💯 🤣
Fight me
OMG her struggling to get up on the chair. She was so cute.
Haha yeah❤️❤️
3:11 "It was like $5 it's probably like the highest it goes, I dont know!" Hahaha, my heart melted on that one, and I'm a stone cold man.
I just lost it when she said that like oh my god
A stone cold man
She's so charming! You can tell she's really intelligent probably why she had the good sense to get out.
get out of whay
what
Acting career probably
@@ellielouise7842 out of hollywood nd the media, it destroys people
@@eellieom9942 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Kids in the 90s seemed so smart and mature for their age. I (like many many others) grew up on Mrs. Doubtfire, and Mara is only a few years younger than me, so thanks for preserving all this great nostalgia.
Xennial Hipster well now to calm ur baby all u do is put baby music or something like that instead of spending time with them
What a sweet heart. My fav of hers will always be Matilda.
me too
"We have a boy called Patrick he loves Patrickaly all the girls in class" that was the cutest way to make an accidental pun I've ever seen
Please explain to me that joke)) 3:45
Why did the frog cross the road? Because of his chicken stay off. I don't get it.
ArtjomAlexandsson because it’s the chickens day off
ArtjomAlexandsson it was the chickens day off... the most famous joke of all time.. why did the chicken cross the road ? To get to the other side!! Lol
I think it wasn't accidentally. She said it purposely.
I had no idea her mom died. She has lived her life courageously. The most courageous thing she has done is quitting the business @12 or 13 and ensue her education. Whatever she is doing I'm sure she would be a success! My best to you Mara!
Lately she voiced Liv Amara and her evil clone Di (Diane) in Big Hero 6 The Series!
“$5 is probably the highest it goes, I don’t know.” She is just too precious!
omg her personallity
Love how she just talked to him like there wasn’t a crowd there
Why are they always so obsessed asking children if they have boyfriends or girlfriends.
Probably because most kids do lol 🤣
Because Hollywood is filled with pedophiles that are constantly sexualizing children..
@@Magic_sparkles no.
I had a boyfriend in kindergarten then in 1st grade, if i would of been asked i would of say yes! His name is pete which it was
Because adults think it’s cute for some reason
That face utterly adorable.
Her eyes💕
The missing teeth ❤️
ITS SO CUTE THAT SHE MENTIONED THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AMERICA AND JAPANESE WAY TO MOTION “come here”
Oh my god she's so precious. I wonder how adult Mara reacts when she sees this hahaha
she’s so polite and precious
So true.
This was before she played Matilda.
Ikr and she is way too smart for a seven year old
No, I don't THINK so. At 5:02 the man asks if she liked the movie; I'm not sure if it was Matilda or something.
Sayeeda Yeasmin Matilda came out in 1996, this interview was in1994
Yep. The teeth grew back in the movie.
@@rhiannongallimore1731 she may have been filming cause some movies are film a year or two before they come out and I I know this cause I saw the making of a movie called I'll do anything and they were filming it in 92 but it didn't come out till 1994
:) I loved how she turns to Tom Jones, "Hello, how are you?" No clue who Tom Jones is, what all he's done.
So cute! I wish child stars were still like this--just down to earth and not overly precocious. Mara sounds and acts exactly like a first grader you might run into in real life--sweet, funny, and excited to talk about her family vacation. Child actors these days seem false for the most part, and too smart for their own good. I'm glad Mara appears to have been one of the few lucky ones.
I swear some people on this site have to make everything a case of "things were better then than they are now"
The way this particular actress turned out isn’t necessarily the result of the era she grew up in. There are still some down to earth child stars out there today (although I do think the increased social media outlets invade their privacy in a more unhealthy way than ever before). I think Mara had an advantage because she was encouraged to continue her education and pursue interests/passions beyond just acting (in her case, writing). That’s something that parents of child stars can (and should) still try to ensure for them. The time era they’re in has nothing to do with it.
Mara wilson is very clever
OMG SHE IS PRECIOUS IN THIS. I love her! I have been obsessing over Matilda lately
So adorable and she has a great sense of humor . Such a thoughtful, intelligent child, even as Matilda. It was a perfect role for her. I will always love her as Matilda. Her mother would have been so enormously proud of her daughter.
Mara is one of my fave child stars
Mara was a wonderful child, now she's an adorable young woman, and she will never stop amazing us! See her movies, read her books, her writings. A superstar in all the sense of the word!
Mara Wilson, I admire you so much! You are talented and super intelligent! 😘😊
(greetings from sunny Greece)
She was adorable then, and she's a true inspiration now. This is so lovely to see.
I hope that i have later, a child that is the same like her
I grew up watching Matilda ALL THE TIME, so everytime I see her now I just think of Matilda haha!
That's so cool that she changed two big lines in miracle on 34th street.
She's smarter than me. Damn lol
She's so adorable!!!!
Adorable. You cant help but smile ☺️
Haha it's so funny listening to her perspective of Japan, since I am Japanese lol:D
Aww she was so cute :)! Took me a while to realise she was sitting next to Sir Tom Jones! Lucky her.
Who’s here in 2021
She is so lovely and looks like an angel!!!
She’s killing me over here,ADORABLE❤️
She's so darn cute.
What a wonderful child she was. 💖
I had that dress too. I miss the 90's!
I like these old videos shes cute and clever, I had that hair style at that age too lol
She was a great child actress and loved her acting in Mrs Doubtfire
so cute and smart .... sweet
aww she's so adorable !!!!! I watched matilda almost an hour ago and damn she was so cute back then :D
Watching her struggle to get on to an armchair. Reminds me of when I had to stand on a pile of books to get up on to my bed when I was little.
I think I'm around her age, I was 3 when Mrs. Doubtfire came out.
Man I miss the 90's, even though I can't remember most of the first half of it.
Well... Handled herself far better than I could at 5 years old. My socially awkward ass never would have even made it on stage.
why is he asking her a little girl if she has a boyfriend, if i was there id throw him and his chair out the window because who does that?
They do it to every single little girl on interviews. It's disgusting.
th-cam.com/video/PjfblhaDr5w/w-d-xo.html
And why does it look like he keeps putting his hand between the desk and the chair and touching her hand 😳
@@kirbyjustine1 how is it disgusting? They’re just trying to be relatable to those kids
I ask my little cousins and nieces and nephews if they have crushes on other kids it's just cute, creepy is often in the eye of the beholder
@@THEBYGONE 100%
What a shitty question. "Do you have a boyfriend?" - why is that okay???
+Joanna van Zeller I don't think (or hope) any show host would go on and on about that today!
This was an aeon ago, man. Things were different.
jhhhbjkiihhhhhhiunj.p.,lomkomkmknj
+Joanna van Zeller You didn't live in the 90's?
It's an innocent question. Lots of people ask kids stuff like that, it's not meant to be taken seriously. Chill out
She was so cute. Seeing her in Matilda, just makes me so so happy even now n tht cute smile is still very much there ❤️
Shes so sociable at such a young age this is so adorable
Happy birthday Mara

So great to see - I just love her in Miracle on 34th Street. T for posting
Omg!! The way she carried the conversation at such a young age . 😍😍😍 I’m sure we are the same age. Lol
Jay Leno was great in 90's
great channel.
thanks for these priceless interviews
She is so cute!
She was so cute when she was little
Very sweet, smart and talented young girl. I’m glad she made the smart decision to leave Hollywood and live her life while she was still young. I hope she’s happy and doing well. ❤️🙏
Stop asking children if they have boyfriends 🤢🤢🤢
What an amazing interview, I would have loved to be that confident and funny when I was younger! She is so cute too
Growing up she was one of my favorite little actors💜 she’s just so adorable!
How is she so confident? Wowwww..
Crazy to think she's 30 in July!
Idk how this ended up on my feed😂
She was so adorable tho😍
She’s so adorable so innocent ❤️
Aww! I hate society literally I don't think she's grown up ugly in anyway? the fucks wrong with the media/people. Can we please have more celebrities who actually grow up with a personalty and all their original features in tact and not plastic? surely what we should be striving for...
She's so adorable here she lost 7 teeth one in Japan one in NYC she's keeping track lol i love her.
The most adorable thing ever. 😊
I love Mara Wilson
She's so cute when she was a child
She became her own mother, matured at her age and so intelligent! it's a shame kids today are not like this.
She is soooo entertaining. Love her!!
Little bitty, pretty one. "Matilda", a sweet dolly. And now, grown up, she's still beautiful and sweet lady.
Awwww shes so cute 😥❤❤
How was she so cute🥺
Omg I love her, she is soooo cutee
i was born 3 years after that interview. Life is really a beautifull gift🌻🌸🌼❤

One of the cutest little people ever!! And of course she’s still amazing!!
OH MY GOD I DIDN'T KNOW SHE WAS MATILDA!!! I'm here because of Welcome to Night Vale…
seriously sooo cute!! OMG!! She and Culkin was the cutest child actors
If they don’t make a Matilda 2 with Mara playing the role as the teacher, I will write it myself.
She so cute
