in a way Dormin was actually rather benevolent, he revived Mono true to his word, the possession in a way protected Wander from further harm, and even kept him alive even after Dormin was defeated
Jerome Talor no power comes without a cost, to be a vessel for such a being is probably too much for wanderer and what we see is what happened after Dorman nearly erased his body in place of his own
Seems a stretch. As it said no soul can be returned to a body, and if you notice the female part of his voice is missing, meaning he brought her body to life, but with his soul. And that's kind of an implication to the origins of Ico, if you dig real deep into it. His power isn't really used for good things, if we take that into consideration, being mostly sacrifice and spreading his own soul
He was still regaining his power, and he had to possess the body of wander to try and stop emon, He was also resealed in an albeit less secure way, not killed.
While I would agree with you, the Shamans would be goddamned if they didn't have backup plans in place for Dormin's resurrection. If the terror of all lands ever got out, they'd make damn sure he wouldn't get far. Pretty solid security, for the stone age...

Despite his appearance, is Dormin really evil other than because he "looks like teh baed gui"? I mean, even after Wanderer poses no threat he still holds up his end of the bargain. Also interesting detail, as was stated earlier in the game, souls cannot be returned to bodies. Notice, however, when Dormin is resurrected that the female part of his voice disappears, implying that part of him was used to resurrect Mono.
+Jacket I don't think he was evil... maybe he was just like the horned people, misunderstood. He kept his promise, after all. At least he was nicer than the guards and the shaman...

I just did this last night, but if you jump in a zig zag formation you can only reach up to the first colossus idol or the light in the ceiling. I tried seeing if it was possible to get passed it but I did it for an hour (ridiculous right?) and all I heard was this weird sound though. But then I gave up hahaha.
But other than that I think the cut off is at the first colossus, couldn't get passed it. It was kind like when you cross the bridge but can't go through the passing haha.
I tried too, but not simply out of curiosity. This game captured me emotionally like close to none managed, and this ending tore me apart inside. I strugled for at least 30 minutes, mashing the buttons in ever growing desperation and tears until I eventually had to give up and let go. I was a 22 year old man, and this made me sob like a little girl.
What is really interesting is at 6:38 you can see what became of the cancelled Spider Colossus (legs) and cancelled Devil Colossus (wings). I wonder if those animations and models can be separated, just to take note and learn more of.
I get it... He gave her a life so now she has to give her life to give him a life again! (raising him). This is such a brilliant game. I'm going to cry. But one thing.. I better do my research :D They're both amazing games that gave me one too many feels anyways.
Jason Mosher And i have done my research! Shadow of the Colossus is a prequel to Ico actually and they both take place in the same world! I am not a 100% sure whether the boy is the same guy from soc but seeing that he has horns--he probably is! The game developers or the game does not specify though. But they are still both amazing games.. it just takes a bit of a patience to get through it all :3 hope that helped!
+Radical Rabbit in ICO, at the opening scenes, one of the mans says something like: "this is where the boys with horns come (showing the chambers). this is for the good of the village" Maybe this boy at the end of SOTC is not the same of ICO, but they're absolutely connected. It's only a guess xD
EitherWayAnyway well... agro fell down into the lake below, but he has broken a leg,and throughout the time wander gets stabbed and emon escapes, agro came there, but slow
"You were just being used." Not really, I'm certain Wander knew what he was doing and could feel the consequence of his actions. Plus how was he "just being used" when Dormin kept it's end of the bargain??? Plus Dormin warned Wander IN ADVANCE that there would be a "heavy price to pay" for slaying the Colossi & resurrecting Mono. Plus just chanting some nonsense then casually tossing the Ancient Sword into the pool makes a vortex that "defeats" Dormin??? Talk about an Ass Pull. To me that's just bad writing. They wanted Dormin to be "defeated" at the end. That's the only reason Emon & his cronies were even in the game. They're just a plot device, and a lazy & contrived one at that. I hate the ending so much. But hey, that's just my viewpoint, I know most players are fine with the ending, which is fine of course.
Its debatable whether you can say they defeated Dormin though. Regardless of any conclusions you draw this obvious started the line of the horned boys, they weren't able to stop/contain that.
Do you know what?, I think you should have been able to kill the men at the end as a colossus, what this could have done if you did do that is make an alternate ending where they didn't escape and the colossus/Dormin escapes the temple and goes out to enslave the world, that would have been really satisfying and would have made the game even better IMO.
So... What if The Last Guardian is some sort of prequel to SotC? In The Last Guardian, a powerful yet somewhat restricted entity feeds on human beings by controlling undead Tricos. In the end, Trico and his boy escape and the Boy grows up to be a man, all the while telling his village about his journey - including, presumably, that entity that's been eating children. At that time, the "valley" is in fact a big hole surrounded by tall walls that's only accessible by a bridge... You can see in SotC's ending that the shrine containing the colossus statues and, ultimately, Dormin somewhat resembles this big walled hole. Maybe the Boy's people were the ones to split Dormin's power after its "defeat" (more like deactivation), build/rebuild the shrine, and forbid entrance to the entire surrounding area containing the Colossi. Maybe the Mirror is somehow related to the sword Wander uses (its guiding light does resemble a mirror reflecting light). Also, we know that Dormin or whatever the "Master of the Valley" is can possess inanimate objects (armor in this case), and we see that Dormin has the familiar huge size and fur without the rocky parts - so maybe the split parts of Dormin's soul were animating and giving shape to unliving stone golems to create the Colossi. It's a bit of a stretch but it's cool headcanon. Update: I'm watching Ico to see if that blows a hole in it, don't know anything about the story so far other than that it comes after SotC, but the architecture in the beginning cutscenes of Ico looks REALLY familiar to TLG...
Am I the only one thinking "Damnit woman make a splint or something for that horse's leg with your skirt and something you find. More than enough material!"
I think it goes SOC- ICO- TLG. If I had to guess I'm assuming that people made a giant wall around the Forbidden Castle/Land where TLG takes place. Dormin is probably the Master of the Valley, and either in another game or through press we'll learn how the Tricos got involved.
So, after having played this game at launch ove4 15 years ago, i just now out of the blue realized that YOU are the final boss; I had to come here to see if others were talking about this
Wander how long it takes to walk that bridge? Lol This was no last battle. The out come is the same no matter what. I tried every single thing in this game. It was like I lived there knowing every inch of the land. I also tried going to alter but it would not let me pass a certain point. Sucks that his girl has to wait at least 20 years to continue their relationship. It was touching how he sacrificed himself for her. I love this game but was sad when it ended. I really wanted a sequel. Ico was good too but it doesn't count as a sequel to me.
***** I think that was the point. When you turn into Dormin, you're put into the shoes of the colossi. You're fighting annoying little tiny people and your size doesn't allow you good manuverability or reliable ways to attack the guards. In a way, I think it just shows you how the colossi all felt when you took 'em down.
I like how they gave credit to the girl but the guy was left being a back to a baby. That's kinda of sad though being turned back to a baby and all that hard work for nothing. I hope she realise its him and i hope when he gets older he won't forget to but i'm sure by the time he gets old she will get older very faster.
That's the tragedy of SOTC, they're together at last but they can't recognize each other. They got what they wished for (or at least what Wander selfishly wanted) but in a twisted way.
its really up to you to decide, I go by this is set first in the trilogy, then comes ico because he is the kid from ico and then the last guardian, I'm not really sure but I think its after all of this. even if the Developers said they are seperated I like to think all the games are connected
but all the structures and architecture in all the games are so similar and also its all about this blue magic stuff and horns, things they all have in common

You're fighting annoying little tiny people and your size doesn't allow you good manuverability or reliable ways to attack the guards. In a way, I think it just shows you how the colossi all felt when you took 'em down.
dialMARK4action
yea but i wanted to move around more!
+Brandon Hardesty You completely missed the point of dialMark's post you fucking imbecile.
JubJub444 yeah it sucks major ass you can’t play as dormin for very long
Are those horns...on his head?
Dormin revive her as promise but in return wander body as vessel....what more tragic you can have then that
fucking memories, so precious.
Back to good old ps2 days
want this remastered for ps4 it's my favourite game
Gwgw Baziou It's already remastered in Ps3.. si I doubt it
You got you're wish but even better, its a remake!
It came out!
its on ps4 now
Your wish has being granted
Something that I heard once that this video brought to mind was "we always think that the dark is evil why is that?"
Jake Lyons just because ancient people scared of dark and night.
I love how you end up becoming what you have been fighting its just so cool
It's the baby behind it all along
I could imagine if dormin escaped and colossus like figures roamed the land and you the hero had to stop them
if the ps4 remake gets money then a squekel might come to fruition
best game of all time
muito macabro e sinistro. Eu já zerei esse jogo é muito maneiro.
They should of made 2 endings. One where you obviously get sucked in and another reaching to the girl. Now that’ll be cool
Dormin looks so badass
i have a question is that baby, the kid from Ico or the kid from The Last Guardian?
From what I read, the Ico boy is horned and the Last Guardian boy is not. I don't know if the games are related though
NanySofia all the games have some connection. but they are their own story
no they aren't at least between shadow & ico, developers stated that the two games are separated
its really up to you to decide, I go by this is set first in the trilogy, then comes ico because he is the kid from ico and then the last guardian, I'm not really sure but I think its after all of this. even if the Developers said they are seperated I like to think all the games are connected
but all the structures and architecture in all the games are so similar and also its all about this blue magic stuff and horns, things they all have in common
I love this game so much!!! So much emotion!!!!
It would be cool if only the actual colossi died and the armor just stays
so confused as to whats goin on...
This game was a classic master peace off all time wonderful stuff 😉
5:45 - 'You were there' tribute
Wander is becoming dormin at 6:36
i like shadow Of the colossus 💖
i feel so bad for wander what the fuck bro JUST LET HIM BE HAPPY
the girl and agro will never leave forbiden lands ?
i wish Yorda could have saw wonder before he was a baby
awesome turtle Theres is an alternate ending when the girl touch the horse, she got a vision of the wander fighting those colossus.
way to ruin the mood by speeding it up randomly.
you get to play as dormin at 8:00
The soldiers of lord emon shot wander in the leg at 4:15
How did they open the door? Don't you need the sword?!
The wander is reborn
i am interested how they are gonna show how wander pulls the sword out of his chest in the remake
Japanese come up with the best plots
3:19 Does anyone know the name of this song?
esta historia me hizo llorar😢😢😢😭😭
Is there anyone that knows the name of that music that plays at about 5:25?
+saddlerjfk that soundtrack is called "prohibited arts"
+Ironman12221 Thanks a lot dude, I really appreciate that. Not many people answer these anymore.
+saddlerjfk you´re welcome :D i was just coming through that after watching lp of sotc. well i´ve seen your question and i had to answer, because it´s such an amazing sounndtrack :D
+Ironman12221 You know the song where wander was getting suck in
I found the credits better in the original, it was easier to see the corpses of the dead colossi here imo.
so wander didn't die he just turned to baby wander and is now named ico
no he turned into a baby with horns then lived his life and had children but the blodline was tainted with the horn gene
es una buena historia pero muy triste 😉😉😖😖😖😭😭
