      I love treating myself to a payday candy bar. If you have an idea of a healthier version of that would be wonderful.

      For long horseback excursions we often brought our version of Ranger cookies because they were filling and traveled well in your pocket or saddlebag without crumbling. They had oats, honey, walnuts or shredded coconut, brown sugar and some kind of dried fruit, usually sweetened cranberries in them. Even the horses enjoyed a bite!

    Epic camp site Wow.... Ok so the Date Coconut balls are on my list of goodies, so are the Oloves... You should try the powdered Sriracha from Farm to Summit! Adds a bit of a kick to meals, and a pinch in Hot Chocolate is the bomb.

    Amanda , thank you for this video , I have a question young lady.. Why do you guys like to walk so much ? I backpack behind the wheel of my Ford. I love your videos but at 69 years old I can't walk to much. Spent most of my adult life hanging sheetrock and now my knees are shot. I ENVY you guys I remember when I was able to do that. Once hiked 7 miles back in the beartooth mountains in montana. It was fun but can't do it anymore.. THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA...

      You ask why they hike so much and follow it up that you have hiked and enjoyed it; I think you answered your own question. Nature is beautiful, peaceful, and being active is better than sitting on your ass all day. And now their ad and other revenue from this channel is paying for them to do it.

    Great video. Even as someone who eats a plant based diet I can get something from the food you took. I love snacking on nuts and fruit and TJs has energy bites called Fooze Balls that I keep in my hip pockets to snack on. Similar to the ones you made. Beautiful scenery and cinematography. Happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️

    One of my favorites are 50/50 mix of Dehydrated Refried Beans & Minute Rice + Taco seasoning + equal parts boiling water, OK to add Cheese & Fritos if you got them. If I can only eat one thing it would be Walnuts, 3000 calories a pound, shelf stable, no cook, mostly Fat for energy.

    OK, you've convinced me to up my dehydrator game, I've only used it for fruits. Care to share your jerky recipe? I do like your idea of using your dehydrated fruits in making your trail mix. Also like your idea of mueslix and powdered milk, a welcome change to my usual oatmeal. Many great ideas for backpacking/overnight camps, when space/weight is at a premium; you two ate very well!

    Thanks for taking us with you. Masterfully filmed. Ginger chews are a favorite of mine too. I have some with me most of the time. If allergies , sinus, throat issues pop up I reach for my chews and it makes it go away most of the time, for me. Could you eat that cold soak breakfast meal warm? Add raisins or other dried fruit. I really enjoy this style of video from you guys. You both look VERY happy and fit/ strong btw!

      You can cook the breakfast with hot water too and I think it would be more like oatmeal. So glad you enjoyed this video! It was a little different and fun for us to make!

    could you poach some of those jerky strips to rehydrate them and add the meat and extra sauce it’d creat to your ramen?
    I reckon that’d be super tasty

    • @Swearengen1980
      @Swearengen1980 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It wouldn't likely turn out the way you think. If you want to rehydrate something, you'd be better off making pemmican where the meat is finely ground instead of jerky. The Natives and mountain men often rehydrated their pemmican after travelling with it.

    Hi love your videos. The camp food videos and photography are truly amazing. Great ideas that I have used on the trail here and camping in the east. Since I don’t know much of the trails in the west, could you take a quick moment and share where you are hiking, the miles expected per day and how you keep your food safe from the animals. How much water you have packed in for the two days. I am thinking you store the food away from your campsite like we have to keep it away from bears and what is that like in Zion.

    I am totally addicted to GinGins. They’re hard to find where I live so very special. I like to make energy bites w almond butter, almond flour, cocoa powder, cinnamon and cardamom. Sometimes I’ll add mini semi sweet chocolate bits. It’s super easy! BTW your hike and camp spot are so beautiful! I’d love to get out west someday!

    I love your videos! First, the scenery is amazing! You find BEAUTIFUL places to hike and camp. As a “hiker beginner”, I would love to get more into it. We love to camp, and our state parks have some nice trails to hike, but I’ve not ever done it before. How do I get started? I walk every morning, but it’s not hiking. Would love to see a video about getting started if you are a beginner:

    Go vegan or vegetarian to help the planet. No need to eat meat. Even being pescatarian is better. Also careful with the sunburn - use long sleeves or suncream, or even a sun umbrella.
