Thank you for watching! 💚 I just love this time of year! If you're interested, here's where you can find more info on my dutch oven cooking course: amandaoutside.com/dutch-oven-cooking-course
The number of times I’ve been on a peak and had a jet fly past super close, has happened way more than what should be considered normal. I was hiking the Vortex in St George several years ago, and a couple jets flew past and were below us, but so close the pilot in one of the jets saw us and waved. It was insane! I love Utah’s west desert. So desolate, so pretty!
Wow that must have been SO loud!! We heard them fly by a few more times on the way down, but never got that close again. We love the west desert. It's one of our favorite places to go that's relatively close by!
Amanda l must say you look amazing, so strong and toned. You inspired me in so many ways. I followed your lead on a recent vacation to WA and slowed down to savor every second and everything around me. I noticed so many animals and plants I would have otherwise past by. A HUGE THANK YOU!!!
Seeing the jets was really cool! It reminds me when I was hiking, I stopped to take pictures of Mt Rainier (I live in western WA) when I heard helicopters. When I found them, they were directly in front of the mountain probably coming back from a training mission. I got a really cool photo too. Tip: I noticed your trekking pole strap is in a bad position. Its best to put your hand up through and over the strap instead of straight through. The reason is when you go through if you fall, the handle stays in your palm which could dislocate your thumb or break your wrist when you land. By going up and over, the pole will fall below your hand so you can catch yourself. Check out some videos on how to hold poles and you'll see. Also, by going up and through the strap will add more support during climbs. Just looking out for you. I don't want you or anyone to get unintentionally hurt.
Have you ever heard of the Ignik? It’s a refillable propane travel tank. It keeps you from having to buy a lot of green tanks for grilling. I comes with a hose to go to your grill and a storage case for transportation.
I found a hiking pole someone left behind in the desert and now I have two! I've come around to your way of thinking and feel two of them is the way to go.
Great hike, great cooking and of course, great company. Thanks for taking us along Amanda. Now I'm hungry for meatloaf and cream cheese smothered pumpkin cake!
I need to get out and camp more. Work gets in the way, but I like how you inspire us. What a lovely two days. I've never cooked anything this elaborate!!
Oooh… 14:38. I am so going camping with you and your meatloaf cooking skills!!!! Forget about hot dogs over the fire!!! (Well, except that there’s not a lot effort into campfire hotdogs- assuming you can have a campfire!)
I’m sure I could look back in your catalogue to find where you say the brand name of your yellow tops. I love that jumper and I’ve been on a mission for my own yellow top(s). Would you mind sharing your yellow top brands?
... Awesome outing .. jets were bonus .. Your base camp meals are over the top ... really shows you love making quality meals ... Didn't notice how you sourced the heat for the dutch oven other than coals on top,, did you have campfire ?? or light up charcoals ?? Used to cook with dutch oven years ago but got away from it ... used to dig a hole,, fill with charcoal ,, then remove enough to cover lid ,set pot in hole coals ,,surround completely and cover with dirt .. working like an oven cooked very well .. lots of work but for the right meal totally worth it... .. Greatly enjoy your video's ... Stay Safe ...
So great getting to "hang out" with you and Nick in this video, hiking & at camp! That pumpkin cake w/ cream cheese frosting!! 😋 Haha I fell in love with carrot cake as a kid but only as an adult found out it's often made with cream cheese frosting 🤣 (Baba always made it without and it was still amazing!) Love your Dutch oven cooking ☺️
As always, loved this video and the food. I still don't understand how you clean all those dishes if you're out in the desert. I have a five gallon water jug, so logically I know I would have enough water, but I get freaked out that the dishes wouldn't be clean enough to make the next food. (I haven't camped more than one night in a row!)
They are from Vivobarefoot, but unfortunately I don't think they make that exact style anymore. Mine are really old, but they have some newer options that are similar!
If you want to convert Nick, all he needs to o is taste my 15yr old daughter’s carrot cake and he will be A BELIEVER 😊 Loved this video, my kids loved it (Utah is so different than New England forests we camp in) and they probably want me to make that meal next time we go camping lol
You make me want to up my camp cooking game! I really do need to get a dutch oven, that opens up a whole new world. What a delicious meal, I think I could give you a run for the money with the meat loaf, although mine is cooked at home! LOL, I'll admit I cringed every time you said "pecan", I'm from Texas, we say it "puh-can...
Just curious what the humidity is like in Utah? I tip my hat off to you for leaving your hair down while hiking out in the sun! I live in NJ and I would die if my hair weren't up in a tight bun/ponytail 😆😆

Whoever that is with you, husband / bf doesn’t matter. He is a lucky dude to have you in his life. You are amazing.
This is the best channel for good camping vibes! ❤
I agree.
It's great how you go car camping for a base camp but day hiking for exercise and exploring.instead of full on backpacking... Great meals too!
Yea it's a lot of fun! I love backpacking too, but it's really nice to be able to hike and then enjoy cooking and hanging out around camp.
Oh that cake...love your videos
You do more elaborate meals out in the boonies than I ever do at home. I tip my cap.
Amanda between your cooking ideas 💡 and Nick's amazing filming I could not ask for better in a video ...thank you to you both
You're so welcome Brian! Thank you for commenting!

You should make your husband a carrot apple cake. Just grate the apples in with the carrots. It's so yummy 😊.

I love this video- how can I find your pumpkin cake recipe?
Love the sun crystals. Can you show us the necklace you make in an upcoming video?
Yes! I think I'm going to do some sort of wire wrap with it!

What bowl is that? It’s deep and is perfect for many things to not spill out there.
I love these kind of videos 😊
Another great video Amanda! What part of Utah were you camping in?
Is that your Xterra?? I have one too and I love it!

What kind of tent ⛺️ you have there? 4 person?
Hey Amanda.... I really like the hiking boots you wore in this vid. They look soft souled. Can you share how to get them 🙂
They are from Vivobarefoot, but unfortunately I don't think they make that exact style anymore. Mine are really old, but they have some newer options that are similar!
Maybe cook and mash carrots like pumpkin puree and use that same recipe
If you want to convert Nick, all he needs to o is taste my 15yr old daughter’s carrot cake and he will be A BELIEVER 😊

A couple of days ago...in a county far, far away.....
Those jets seemed so close 😬🤯
Did I see you put icing on your mashed potatoes!?

This has indeed been a hot October so far.
How did you like the minimalist boots?
I love them! I've been using them for years!
@@amanda.outside sold! Just started researching yesterday and there you are hiking in them! Thanks!

There's basically no humidity here in Utah! I grew up in CT and I really don't like the humidity. No way I would be able to keep my hair down!
@@amanda.outside No humidity in Utah?!?! I'm moving 😃
... Just realized ,, you figured out how to make a square peg in a round hole ... then meatloaf .
welcom ladys and ghentelman to anpther classs of arts ad crafts with amanda😁
Yay I get to be one of the first to comment! I wish I had anything worthwhile to say lmfao.
