How many countries produced V8 cars that were imported into the US? The UK, Germany, Italy, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Slovakia, Austria, probably far more historically. Loved this video though, classic racing of the type I watched as a young bloke.
Larry had stayed with Aussie Holden 5.0L V8 power in '93 & went on as a privateer to beat the big budget factory teams including all teams who had switched to Chev power when he won Bathurst in '93. He was forced to adopt Chev power for 1994 & by the time this footage was shot in '95, Larry had perfected his Chev power plants, overtaken all his competition with both imported small block Fords AND CHEVS & he then went on to win Bathurst again beating the Chev punters at their own game. Had Larry been allowed to continue with his inhouse Holden V8 development program, retained the assistance he'd had from Holden's block & head foundry, added further strength & improved port casting to Holden blocks & heads, no one would be seen dead with a Chev now because Larry's ability to reinforce & find power was off the charts. It's sad the globalist grubs killed Holden. Even Kevin Bartlett's fierce 350 Camaro never managed to win Bathurst against Holden & engineers like Larry. We built the most durable & most practical V8 passenger cars on Earth right here in Australia & corporate psychopaths destroyed the entire program. Imagine it... America imported V8 cars FROM AUSTRALIA! Some were badged Pontiac. Some were badged Chev. Just how many other countries produced V8 cars suitable for export into the US? We were right on top of the game when scums in suits snatched the ball away.
Love it bring back those cars and all around that era good days
Perkins is truly one of the greats.
I'm not a Ford fan, but I do admire Dick Johnson
