- The battery tray is replaced. New battery cables are installed. The nightmare wiring is somewhat sorted out. The starter is shimmed but still sounds terrible. Exhaust manifold threads are repaired. I attempt to get the truck to run but have fuel issues.

I'd have that truck in gloss black all day long, man. Really enjoying this series, can't wait to see more on it!
Thank you very much.
I enjoy these videos so much, thank you sir! Please don’t change a thing, your channel is perfect.
Thank you for your comments.
Can’t wait for part 3!!! Getting ready to pull the engine and transmission in my project truck as well!!
Thanks and good luck with your project.
Appreciate that you explain and show the work you're doing. So many channels talk the whole time and do no work. Greay job.
Thanks for taking interest in my videos.
i bought an 83 k10 with no knowledge going in, i'd say shes a sister ship to this one and im feeling my way in the dark. thanks for this great content.
Good luck with your project.
i really enjoy watching your videos. I am working on my 86 GMC K2500 currently as well and doing much of this same work. Thank you for taking the extra time to make the videos and put them out here.
Thanks and good luck with your project.
Usually GM negative battery cables go from the terminal to a bolt that threads into the upper Alternator bracket, not the bottom swivel mounting bolt. If you care about how it likely was, OG. Still, it's so much better than it was. Surprised it didn't burn down.
Thanks Mr Dark and glad to see you back for the second video. I will keep that in mind because I would like to make it as close to factory as possible.
Whole lot of work done, love to see it.
Awesome!! I like greens, so for me it would be a mid- or dark-green. Looking forward to seeing more!!
I like green also. I remember that back even into the early to mid 90's the game wardens where I live had green short wheel base 4x4 square body trucks to patrol in. I would really like to get a hold of one of those to restore. I have not seen one since then though. That would be a good next project.
I enjoy your videos and how you take pride to fix up these square bodies the right way! I used to have a 75 C30, I painted it Meadow Green Met (a 1999 GM truck color)... looking forward to seeing this future step side back on the road!
Thanks and I do like green. It is on my short list.
Love the attention to detail in these videos. Cannot wait to see this truck back on the road!
Hope you stick around.
Sound great! Excellent work.
Thanks
Love this build. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, I plan on filming and posting the entire restoration.
If you don't want another red truck, consider the two tone metallic blue with white. One of my favourite colour combos for the K10. Two tone black with blue would also be neat. Excellent video, looking forward to the next one.
Thanks for your comment.
Your
work is amazing and perfect...
Thanks
Forest Green! My choice in color. Great videos!
Thanks. Green is on the short list.
I love your videos , no fluff just straight work and great explanations for everything. Please keep em coming.
Thanks for your comments.
This video series is incredible
Thanks
Keep them video coming, enjoy them very much
Thanks
So easy to work on. Not one computer controlled valve stem cap to be found. 😋
The cruise control might be a little challenging when I attempt to get it going..
I enjoyed the video. Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks
Excellent work! I always really liked the light blue on top and bottom with white in the middle for a nice factory two tone look. Anyway, looking good, can't wait to see the next video!
Thanks for your comment. I really like the two tones also.
Hey Mikey! We need more cowbell! Let’s go with the next video already!😁😁
Lol, This made me laugh starting may day. Thanks. Well my real job takes most of my time. I would much rather be working on that old truck. I have big plans for the ole girl. The next video will be killer. I just bought something for the truck that is going to surprise everyone. Stay tuned.
Fantastic video!
Thanks
Please don’t change a thing, your channel is perfect.😀
Thank you.
I have taken the starter apart, cleaned it, regreased it then put it back together and it worked 100 percent better than it did before.
The starter looks like it is fairly new, but it still might be a good idea to clean and grease it.
Thank you for this video. I have a 1985 K10 and have a lot of the same problems you addressed. I am amazed at your efficiency of movement and effort. Lots of editing, or really experienced.
Thanks. I am not sure if you have seen the toyota videos but the first video on the toyota is the first video that I ever made. I watched youtube videos on subjects I like for about 3 years so I kinda modeled my videos on them. Yes lots of editing. I am also not a real mechanic but just learned by doing. Stick around for the next videos. I plan on filming the complete restoration.
Thanks for the video! Already waiting for Part 3. My colors are Midnight blue + Frost white. Cheers from Argentina 💪🏻
Thanks blue is a popular suggestion. Hello Argentina. I would like to see your country one day.
Love watching your videos! Please keep them coming. I’ve always liked the two tone brown/tan paint scheme. I believe it was a color option for that year model.
Thanks
got one that is about as bad as @4x4mikey's that is brown/tan that I'm working on.
beautiful wiring job there
Thanks. And I like green. I remember the Game Wardens around my little county having green short wheel base K10 4x4's up into the early 90's. I would like to find one of them to restore.
Great presentation, love how clean you've installed everything. Proper. My color choice would be Chevy Blue, of course. Looking forward towards the next installment!
Thanks
Ready for the next video! Can’t wait to see what you have in store for it. My favorite color that is out rite now Is Rams 2023+ Patriot Blue that would look awesome on that truck.
Thanks, Getting lots of suggestions for blue.
Enjoy watching your video and learn a lot from it. I suggest black looks nice.👍🏻
Thanks for your comment.
@@4x4mikey You're welcome
Really like watching your videos. You do excellent work. It really was a disaster when you started, but it is really coming along! Not sure if you are keeping track and know you are getting parts here and there, and stuff you already have on hand, but it would be great to see where you end up cost-wise.
Thanks for your comment. I might start a spread sheet showing the costs of the parts and add that to the end of the videos.
Start it up dad reminds me of me and my dad working on some old chevys!
I am lucky to have a great dad.
Working on the same issues on my 1980 K10 Stepside so enjoy this very much. Pulled the headers and had to helicoil as well. But this all new to me so I’ll be tuning in…Thanks
Thanks
Good luck with your project.
This and the way you show how is great! Don't change! Also just my 2 cents charcoal grey or dark blue metallic. But do what feels right for you! Also can you give a little timeline when the next video will drop??
Great progress on the square body Silverado! I think a dark metallic blue for the color would look good!
Thanks. I am getting a lot of suggestions for blue.
Excellent job sir ...outstanding work....i would buy this truck off you in a second....when your done its gonna be better then new...love your content sir...thank you....
Thanks for your comments. She is going to be fine again one day.
Your video's are very informative! A blue and white would look good. Gained a subscriber here!
Thanks
Dark green would look great on it
Midnight Blue Metalflake.
Always been a fan of candy root beer for those old chevys
The level of piss-poor repairs one can find on an old vehicle is limitless. I like how you put things back in proper order as GM intended. Not only does it work properly, but the vehicle value increases drastically.
This truck has had some very sketchy work done on it in the past. Thanks for watching.
Just happened upon your channel. Love the Chevy square bodies. Really enjoying your 2 videos on fixing up this truck. My color suggestion would be Blue, similiar the step side truck that was on the early 80's show "CHiPs" John Baker had a blue Step Side chevy truck on that show. Enjoying your videos!
Thank you for you interest in my videos. Blue is a popular suggestion in the comments. I also like blue. Stay tuned because I plan on videoing the entire restoration.
Love the video, I would like to see the truck with the indian bronze colour
I always like that goldenrod color they used on the Chevy's
That is very interesting. and the first gold suggestion.
Blue for the color.
absolutely love the video, genuinely someone who likes working on these trucks and not fishing for views. Im tuned in for the next. what are your thoughts on maybe a dark brown?
I actually like dark brown. They were popular back in the day not many around that color these days.
Baby blue with silver pinstripes
easy chevy blue with the cream top that would be mint
or that green they had with tan top
Blue is cool.
Light blue
Brown color would look good
Green!
👍
deep blue and grey or black would be my choices
navy blue
Green.
also forest green would be nice
Lot of work to be done
This project will take a long time due to the amount of work that needs to be done.
Silver with flames
Subscribing as you have great content and are very informative. Forest Green would be my recommendation
Thanks. Green is on the short list.
You should paint it either black or a Navy blue
Just wondering why you didn't replace or paint the gas tank straps?
The gas tank mounts and straps are in very good condition with only some minor surface corrosion. I am going to remove that tank to replace the cab corners and when I reinstall the tank permanently I will blast and paint the straps and mounts.
How bout a nice Midnight Blue.
been waiting for this video and cant wait for the next one! I'm thinking navy blue too
Thanks. Navy blue is a good choice.
if the interior is going to be a tan/brown color, then paint it Chevrolet Light Saddle Metallic (its a stock color)
Moon grey
❤❤🇧🇷🇧🇷👍👍
Tangier Orange or Midnight Blue. Greetings from central Asia)
I am impressed that people from all over the world like the video. I like both of your suggested colors. What country are you in?
@@4x4mikey I am from Kazakhstan. 🇰🇿
@@tehmudzhin I have been to Azerbaijan so I have been close to your part of the world. Great food and nice people.
How about a dark blue color?
Dark blue is an excellent choice and very popular in the comments.
What’s that book and where can a guy get one?
It's the 1984 light duty truck repair manual. The same the mechanics used. Try e-bay. There are other online sellers also. Do a google search. There is usually one or two on eBay.
1984 Chevrolet light duty truck repair manual.
Gonna be for sale?
I am not planning on selling it.
U need an inner fender as bad as u needed a battery tray
This truck needs everything. All of it. Lol
Black
Black ...
It blows my mind someone would spend all that time botching the battery tray when getting the right part would have been cheaper and faster 😂 paint color gun metal grey
Almost everything on this truck has been modified, broke or half repaired. But it is challenging and fun to bring her back.
silver
Paint it Black, Blue, or Green
black
