    I love to see these trucks out there that are still in this shape.
    I dream to restore one of them one day.

      They are still out there in someone back yard waiting for you to rescue.

      Thank you for the comment. I did a driver quality restoration on this truck about 5 years ago.

    Thank you for taking the time to do such great videoing of everything you do. That must add a lot more time and work for you?

      Thanks for taking interest in my video. Yes it takes some time to set up the shots. Some are very challenging due to the tight spaces.

      I have a 1977 GMC shortbed that I have owned since 1983. It now needs cab mounts and I am not a body guy or mechanic. Any suggestions?

      @@chriszeoli1824 It is difficult find someone to do this type of work because it is very time consuming. Regular body shops will not touch it because they make more money doing insurance jobs. Shops that specialize in that type of work charge around 75 per hour. You can do it yourself. It will be a lot of trial and error. You can buy almost any body part you need for these trucks. Buy the tools and just get in there and cut out the rust and weld in the new metal. Plan on two or three days to replace one cab mount and possibly longer with no experience. I like doing that kind of work. Seeing the finished product is very satisfying.

    You need the factory slide out spare tire holder. I have one.

      I would like to have one. I have priced them on eBay and they are very expensive.

    Nice work. Are you planning to replace the bed supports? Seem rusted right out?

    • @4x4mikey
      @4x4mikey  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I plan on replacing them. I have a good set from a parts truck that I am going to install.

    Do you find those cover gaskets seep over time more than using just RTV instead?

    • @4x4mikey
      @4x4mikey  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The cover plate gaskets seem to hold up pretty well for me.

    You're not going to clean the grease off the muffler?

    • @4x4mikey
      @4x4mikey  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would probably need to sand blast it because it has almost turned to carbon. Lol

    Nice truck!
    Why didn’t you just spray the gasket on the cover?

    • @4x4mikey
      @4x4mikey  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not sure but I just started using that tacky spray for gaskets and I am learning how to use it without making a mess. Seems like a good product and looks to be holding up well so far.

    That truck is factory fresh, they are almost all rust buckets and junkers here. I would still like to buy a short box lowered 2WD square body some day.
