Hey my Elvis Brothers, Levi here. When Jamie was discribing the proscess of using the same drum kit pre-recorded dry. Didn't RCA try to update an album the same way with Scotty and DJ rerecording their tracks on the 1980s "I was The One?"

Hi guys easily the best Elvis related channel anywhere!!... my youtube channel is not monetised at all...just fan production for other Elvis fans...but i have extract things like ''All shook up'' with no harmony version...with no disrespect to Elvis music ..just so fans can hear different mixes ...i think Love me tender soundtrack with different reverbs more like the mono is good..and Easy come Easy go benefits from remixes...thanks guys keep up the good work...

Thank you so much, David! Yeah, it's a fun process to play with, and the technology for it is getting better all the time! And you're 100% right on "Easy Come Easy Go"; it could use a fair bit of tweaking!

Hello gentlemen, I think we could talk about this subject for days. There is a song I have thought about for years that is a deep album cut I think could benefit from a remix and overdub.

I'm generally not an advocate for any of this DES stuff for philosophical reasons (i.e. those mono masters where specifically engineered and "mixed" to the medium), however there is perhaps a single instance where I could see it used and that would be the horns overdub on the stereo Suspicious Minds, and only then if we really, really, really need a full remix of the stereo master.
For those who don't know, the horns only exist on the 2-track stereo master (well, and the 1-track mono master, as a different performance), as Bill Porter (rightfully so) convinced Felton Jarvis to not loose a tape generation when applying the horns. Since the 8-track session tape was already full, there was no place to add the horns. Bill recorded them live to the stereo 2-track (and separately 1-track) mixdown master. This is why Suspicious Minds sounds so bad on 2002's 30#1 Hits, because back then they blended a remix of the 8-track tape with one side of the 2-track master in order to get the horns in, resulting in some really unfortunate phasing artifacts (particularly evident with a cymbal crash into one of the choruses). If the horns could be cleanly extracted from the 2-track master in theory they could make a full new stereo mix of Suspicious Minds.
And since we're on American Sound, most of the multis have more than one instrument assigned to a track, an example being the guitar and piano on Suspicious Minds occupying a single track. DES could be used to pull apart some of these multis, but again, at a certain point I have a philosophical issue with that as those recordings were engineered and produced in very specific ways, in light of the technology limitations. At some point we need to be okay with the original recordings/artworks. And in light of the still unaddressed sync issues on Suspicious Minds on MEMPHIS, I'm loath to see more revisions on this stuff.

These tracks are best for sound separation due to so few instruments on the tracks; can bolster up the punch of drums & stand up bass around the King's voice

Eric records released some of Els mono to stereo tracks on their compilations. They are way superior, especially Heartbreak hotel that honestly sounds like true stereo

I also love the Eric records Heartbreak Hotel,it does have one sound glitch that sticks out, but great stereo, especially on the instrumental break!

Question? How does the First In Line Vocal sound. In that song the vocal seems to me backgroundish. Like he is in the hall. I really like that song. Would like his voice brought out more in that song.

I don’t like stereo sound as a rule especially for 50s/60s records so this probably isn’t for me. But it begs the question, why aren’t Elvis’s 60s recordings currently available in mono? Seems like at least the early-mid 60s stuff would be out on FTD if nothing else. The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Dylan mono boxes prove there’s a market!

Great reviews guys, is there anyway the 68 Special could benefit from this process, not many instruments but we might get a clean sound on the sit down segments? Maybe the actual Special too?

That's totally understandable - I see these as nice alternatives, particularly for fans who're just starting out and can't afford the larger official releases.
