    Just a small note; while it is true that ARX (the Elite Dangerous currency for cosmetics) can be purchased with real money (it is, along with DLCs, the game's funding system), you also get ARX ingame just for playing (with a limit of 400 per week), or from time to time Frontier gives away ARX at certain times of the year (for example, at Christmas time).
    On the other hand, every week/month, or with different events, Frontier usually gives away cosmetics for ships, and sometimes for costumes, weapon color, or emblems, etc... as rewards for ingame events, or for example as Twitch Drops in their broadcasts. I have never bought ARX with real money, and I have many consmetics given away, or bought with ARX obtained by my gameplay.
    Of course, if you want to have many cosmetics, or certain cosmetics that are to your liking, the best and fastest way is to buy ARX with real money... but let people know that there is an option to get them without spending real money.
    About the difference between armor/weapons between SC and ED, I think the main thing is the approach that each game makes on those issues;
    - in SC they are treated as normal in FPS games; things that you can buy or loot, "use and throw away", exchanging parts like scopes, etc...
    - in ED the suits and weapons are like the ships; you get one and you upgrade and engineer it to suit your tastes and needs. Each weapon and suit is unique, according to the player's needs. You don't lose them (unless you sell them) and you don't buy them every time you go to fight. That's why in ED there are not, for example, specific magazines or loot. In a FPS, if you run out of bullets you throw the weapon away and pick up another one from the ground... in ED you would never throw away a weapon that you have been engineering for months...
    Another very important aspect when taking into consideration the gameplay on foot in ED is that it is an optional DLC, so Frontier has a number of players who have not purchased this content, so they have to differentiate very clearly the gameplay in ship/vehicle and the gameplay on foot. Sadly this causes that both content has to have some separation and limitations.
    In any case, from my point of view, ED is a ship game, which has gameplay on foot (with Odyssey), and that gameplay on foot is not necessarily a shooter, and in fact it is completely optional. For me SC, even with all the ships it has and the interiors of these, I see it much more focused on the on foot mode than ED; you start on foot in a bed, you have to take the subway, order your ship, etc... and even in the ship you can spend a lot of time standing... And I think it gives a lot of importance to the shooter mode. Personally, as a lover of Space Sims with ships, I prefer ED's approach, but that's a matter of taste, of course.
    Thank you so much for your ED and SC videos. It's a pleasure to see you enjoying both games. I'm not a big fan of "comparisons" because, as a general rule, they end up being "hateful", but I'm sure that your series of comparisons are going to be very reasoned and moderate.

    it takes way longer to add a suppresser to a gun in elite vs sc. like 20+ hrs of grinding to get the mats, and what, like 30-40 hrs to unlock the needed engineer?

    Both Titles, ended their Kickstarter 2013!
    One game was built & finished, and is adding features, until now.
    The other is adding features until now, and has yet to be built & finished.
    Star Citizen will be huge, even tho´ , never bug-free
    As an Explorer & Miner that uses VR, i am drawn to Elite with it´s fully simulated Milky Way

      You forgot that Elite Dangerous was in development for 6 years before it entered kickstarter. So when it launched in december 2014, it had been in development for almost 9 years. And by the time FPS combat was added, it had been in development for 16 years.

      @@Laerei6 years before the Kickstarter???? What are you saying????
      The development of ED began shortly before the Kickstarter... in fact, the demo that appears in the Kickstarter videos is little more than the skeleton of the Coriolis stations and the primitive flight system through space...
      Frontier spent some time testing things and developing the idea of a new Elite 4 on its Cobra engine, with a small team, and always prioritizing its other projects, but the real development of ED began in 2012.

    To be fair it takes a while to put together your suit loadouts in Elite as well.

  • @57thorns
    @57thorns 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    I think there is a huge difference on focus:
    Star Citizen focuses on the person, I believe they started out with the walking part. Elit Dangerous was a ships-only game for a very long time.
    Some say Elite has been 10+years in development and no ship interiors.
    The combat part of the SC mission looks interesting, but I have not played that much on foot combat in Elite so really hard to compare. I would say that if you take an assasination or "mess with this settlement" mission, your experience in Elite with regard to being incapacitated would be pretty much like the one in Star Citizen.
    So the missions you took are quite different.
    But both games, in my mind, look fine if you are into fps combat.

      The vision presented in the Kickstarter is not finished, but what has been done so far is impressive. You can call it DLC or expansion, but it is a way to get more money into what is a really inexpensive MMO.

    Thanks man, I like your assessment of both games. Personally I think conflict zones in Elite is most boring part of on-foot gameplay, stealth can be really cool when you get taste of it. What I like is to take few different missions based on which materials I need for upgrades. So I get 3-4 (crash site, raid, stealth etc) and flying around different systems and planets doing those then back for rewards. If you want real challenge you can try package defend mission solo, those bots can smoke you really fast.

      @cmdrvalsylvana2129 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, a stealthy settlement massacre would have been more comparable to what he was doing in SC. Conflict zones are more of a fast-paced, all-guns-blazing situation.

    The night vision isn;t night vision, it's a digital outline of everything. In pvp you would not want someone you just killed to pop back in fully kitted out in a dropship right after they die. It would make combat stagnant. Minimap is comming very soon to star citizen which is very needed. Don't forget you can sleep in your ship and that makes getting back to mission running especially if your have a fully stocked ship super easy.

    The newest addition to Star Citizen are cool, but it won't be fair to make a comparison. Elite Dangerous is productive since 10 years, it has reached its end of life. Star Citizen is still being developed.

    • @Maquinamqc
      @Maquinamqc 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      Both projects started their kickstarter and development right at the same time, at the end of 2012, it is not Frontier's fault if, after 11 years, they have a very complete and polished product (within their style of play, better or worse, which everyone will like it more or less) and CIG has SC still in its infancy.
      In these 11 years, every time someone makes a comparison video between both games (or, for example, between SC and NMS, or SC and x4, etc...) the same thing always happens; It's not fair because SC is still in development... well that's only CIG's fault, not the rest of the games.
      What is there at each moment is compared... these are comparisons of the past between ED and SC;
      - 2013; Yes, ED is very cool in its 1.0 version, but SC has a much greater scope, you just have to wait.
      - 2015; Yes, ED is very cool with its new planets and SRVs, but SC has a much greater scope, you just have to wait.
      - 2017; Yes, ED is very cool with those new alien races, but SC has a much greater scope, you just have to wait.
      - 2019; Yes, ED is very cool with the Fleet Carriers, but SC has a much greater scope, you just have to wait.
      - 2021; Yes, ED is very cool with its new on-foot gameplay, but SC has a much greater scope, you just have to wait.
      - 2023; Yes, ED is very cool with the Thargoid war, but SC has a much greater scope, you just have to wait.
      Obviously, if SC finally ends up coming out as gold 1.0... surely ED, NMS, x4, etc... have ended their lives, but SC has been in development for 11 years, and they still have a few more years left. I suppose it will end up being a magnificent game, but it is unfair not to give the rest of the games (ED, NMS, etc...) the real merit that they have been REAL and FINISHED games during these last 11 years.

      @@tweaked74 Well after 7k hours, there isn't anything anyone could be happy with. That is just way too much, and is not reasonable to expect full-time entertainment for mere $100. And this "dying" stuff; we are getting *big* updates every few months, for free; how is it dying?
      Btw: SC will never be released. It is more immersive, true, but it is a bug fest that cannot be fixed as they say, and there is no gameplay basically. After 12 years, they can't even make an inventory, how can one expect thousands of other bugs to be fixed?
