The official music video for the song features sequences of the band members in carefree tableaux (riding around LA in a 1960 Buick convertible, stopping at a lingerie shop, and splashing around in a fountain) interspersed with footage of the band playing at a club.
Jane Wiedlin says the band was initially unenthusiastic when Miles Copeland, president of their label, I.R.S. Records, told them they would be doing the video. "We were totally bratty," she recalls. The video was financed with unused funds from the Police's video budget.
The group wanted an older-style convertible, and found a red 1960 Buick LeSabre at Rent-a-Wreck. After riding around Beverly Hills, at some point, they stop at the famous Trashy Lingerie store located at La Cienega Blvd. The girls go into the shop, but Jane Wiedlin remains in the car to sing the bridge of the song (although Carlisle can be seen in the driver's seat trying to hide). The day of shooting was very hot, so it was the band's idea to end the video by jumping into the fountain on the corner of Wilshire and Santa Monica. Wiedlin later said "I thought, at any minute the cops are gonna come. This is gonna be so cool."
Wiedlin looks back on the video experience fondly. "I have horrible '80s poodle hair in it," she recalled in a 2011 history of MTV. "But there's a simplicity and innocence to the video that appeals to me."
The music video received heavy airplay on the fledgling MTV.

Love the Go-Go's. The fact Belinda Carlisle was the original drummer for the Germs is one of my favorite bits of rock n' roll trivia, and always made her super cool in my eyes because the Germs are the greatest punk band of all time, in my opinion. The early LA punk scene gave birth to much of my favorite music, and from everything I've read it was super gnarly and dangerous; I have no doubt the Go-Go's would have most modern punks running desperately for the safety of their time machines if they had the chance to party with them.

I'm 55 ... unfortunately, but back in 1984 I was 15 years old. I was right there for all of these great 80 songs. I remember discovering the Go-Go's and thinking how beautiful Belinda was.My favorite video was of them water skiing in the Vacation video but my all time favorite song was Our Lips are Sealed. This was such a fun video and your lowered mini jeep with the 12's or 15's is awesome man. I was born in Oceanside but spent more time in the Bay area around Sunnyvale and Mountain-view.

Awesome video. I always wanted to know where it was filmed. I knew it was in LA in the Hollywood area. I remember watching this usic video forthe first time back in 1982 or 83. I was in middle school and I fell in love with the song and the girls. Every time I see it it takes me back to a happier time

Another fun video, even though I didn't grow up in So Cal. Obviously I can't be positive, but I'm pretty confident the brick background behind the stage is faux. In the music vid there is a seam, and other masonry inconsistencies.

Belinda Carlisle just released a new EP on vinyl called "Kismet"! It's really good! The lead single "Big Big Love" was written by Diane Warren.
This video was one of the first I saw on MTV when we got it in either 1982 or 1983. I never noticed the Coronet was a theater. There used to be a department store chain called Coronet and I thought it was one of those.
