Kitty Carlisle was a beautiful woman, even on into her advanced age. Just lovely!!!

This was a very historical year. Both Alaska and Hawaii were admitted to the Union as the 49th and 50th state. I wonder if they had the first Hawaiian congressman later on. If not, they should have.

You bet they did...one congressman was a highly decorated WW 2 soldier...

In game #1, contestant #1 is actress Vivian Smolen (Klein) (1916-2006).
In game #2, contestant #2 is cartoonist Virgil Partch (1916-1984).

In that first game, Contestant #3 looked great for 84 years old!--especially for way back in the late 50s, when nutrition wasn't what it is today and so many more people smoked. And I loved in the second round when Kitty asked how many penguins are in Alaska! LOL (And Contestant #3 stumbled--a surefire giveaway that it wasn't him, because there are NO penguins in Alaska--they're only at the SOUTH Pole! LOL

Bud's rear hairpiece, or hair cap, whatever it is, was particularly noticeable tonight.

I wish those panelists would stop saying,, " I voted for number 2 but should have voted for number 1 " It was very irritating.

That's your standard "hindsight's 20/20 type of a statement. It' annoying, but not to bad for me.

    That last segment was hilarious.

It was clear with panel # 2, that Tom Poston was reading from a list of apparently prepared questions from the show's staff. I've always felt that the 3 guests are prepped specifically for these questions just in case they are used by the panel. Of course the panel can use their own questions as well.

I've noticed that the panel often asks very detailed, specific questions on topics about which they should have no knowledge.

It might be a list of questions, but remember that the panel all have the written affidavit, and it isn't unusual for them to refer back to the affidavit for some detail to check a contestant's memory for the details.

This is close to my ideal panel, just trade Polly for Peggy Cass.

Trick question about penguins as we all known they are only found in the Southern Hemisphere.

Why would a grandmother be expected to know the formula for baby food if she hasn't had the daily care of an infant for over 50 years???

I get what you mean. They didn't even put warning labels on cigarettes until 1966.

Ya know, ever since I started watching this about 4 month ago, I thought it'd be nice to go on it, but if Bud offered me a carton of cigarettes, I'd be HIGHLY insulted

Good thing you were NEVER on. btw it was his job he just gave the smokes to them , there isn't a room in the back where he shoved them down their throats or MADE them smoke em.

@@walkingtrails7776 Plus the perks they gave varied by who the sponsor was, so it wouldn't always be cigarettes. And back then they were more a regular product before the health issues.

You definitely would have accepted them in 1959. Nobody thought anything of it. You're just saying you would have been insulted without knowing how the experience really would have felt.
