However, in order to that they must first drive across a country that has been largely closed to westerners for over 40 years: Burma.
Futhermore, the trio must make this trip in three lorries that have been bought 'sight unseen' from the internet for a limited budget. Unsurprisingly, they are not quite as the trio might have hoped or expected.
What follows is an epic journey of beautiful scenery, regular adversity, ongoing malfunction and the constant bickering of three badly dressed buffoons.

@Philippe Ernst cheapo off-brand equipment (fake of an off-brand in the case of the MDS amplifier - as in not a "real" MD Sound lol), and probably wired / adjusted incorrectly haha... the amplifier wattage is also overrated, more like 230 watts RMS both amplifiers combined... cheap inefficient Class AB designs... it won't sound THAT bad in person though, sounds like the microphone was placed too close and was overloading

The reason why he mentioned it was built in either 1959 or 1976 is because it was probably bought from Thailand (those are thai lorry licence plates) and thai ppl count year in buddhist era
Both year translates to 2502 BE and 2520 BE respectively, so the seller probably confuses year 02 with year 20 somewhere along the line

I confess I miss the trio when they worked for the BBC. The Grand Tour stuff is good but the bigger budget seems to have sucked some of the magic away with it.
Only just fully realised that at 0:25, the sound of the engine squeekily shitting itself is just edited in and his lorry doesn't make that sound at all. The exact same sound can be heard at 1:02 on the "How to demolish a house" video when Richard is picking up tea. That video is from 2011, this is 2014.

When I mentioned the film and the scene that the song is played, the other kids made fun of me. Then the substitute teacher said the exact same thing and I emerged from that band room a new man, based in fact and not likely to stray to the temptations of ignorance.

Mad respect to manual transmission Truck drivers.
I loved this Special, a delight from start to finish. Clarkson is equally at his most infuriating (particularly when nearly flattening James) and oddly endearing (with his clear fondness for teddy bears), and the Hamster also shows an unexpected side: his patience at Jeremy's loafing. The new Top Gear trio (Flintoff, Harris & McGuinness) are fun enough despite what appears to be a lower budget, but I miss the edgier days of these three! Buy it!
