- This video is about my journey towards becoming a registered nurse (I am now) here in the United Kingdom.
I have been here since 2016 and I feel so happy to finally make a video like this one which will hopefully be of help to others who are planning to establish a career here.
This is just about the process of application and hiring. I am still yet to make a video of what to expect when you arrive here in the UK and what the first few weeks will be like.
I stand corrected when I said “Ka-tie up dito sa UK” na agencies are IPAMS and Omanfil. I should’ve been clearer that those two aren’t the only agencies that send nurses to the UK. They just happened to be the two most common to us here on Cambridge. Sorry I got muddled. 😘

Sir, okay nabang ielts academic lang For uk? Or should be ielts ukvi academic? Some of the agencies are asking ielts acad, some are asking ielts acad can be?
loreto simon andaya hi there! Ielts academic (regular) is good enough for CBT but the IELTS academic UKVI is good enough for CBT and it’s also the preferred one for visa application.
Hi sir. I am currently taking up BSN as my second course (Psych graduate before). I am now 27 and I was advised by my current school that ill be able to finish it in 3 years. It is really my dream to be working there so i take nursing. How old were you when you get there? Is there any age limit? For second coursers like me, considering that I will not be finishing it in 4 years, will there be any issues with that? Hope you can answer this.

Kelvin Jay Evardo hi Kelvin! There’s no age limit as far as I know for the application. One good thing here in the UK is that there’s equal opportunities for everyone regardless of age or sex or whatever. There’s one newcomer here who is now well in her forties 😊
As for me, I was 24 when I got here but I turned 25 two days after landing here hahaha

Hi! Thanks, very informative! But i have a question po, kasi i don't have work experience sa Ph, just only company nurse ang naging work ko sa atin. Now, i am here in part of europe. Gusto ko mag apply sa UK as a nurse. Pwede ba ako mag apply kahit wala ako work experience sa hospital? Dami naman kasi kaagaw para makakuha ng pwesto sa nursing division, that's why nagtyaga na lang ako sa pagcompany nurse noon kasi i need income.
Nagwwork po ako dito as DH. But i realized, i want to pursue my career and my profession, and transfer to an english country. Please, kindly answer my queries. Thanks!

Hello po! I'm an OFW nurse here in Jeddah, KSA. I'm working in a polyclinic, assigned in the emergency room department. Is it okay to take the IELTS UKVI here in Jeddah even if I have not yet applied in any agency in the Philippines?
I was actually a qualified candidate bound for Addenbrooke's Hospital in CUH last July 2018. I just withdrawn my application due to financial problems. I was also an OmanFil baby. Hehe

des sy during my time, I had to wait a year bago Naka Punta dito. But it’s been very different. Ngayon, it’ll only take an applicant roughly 1-3 months provided na compliant sa lahat ng requirements
Lots of friends kabayan mga nurse. Graduate din ako ng nursing pero now register nanay muna ako sa dalawa kong anak hehe.
I’m sure kabayan motherhood is much more challenging and rewarding than any other job or responsibility 😊 regards to your kid(s) 🥰

Jhudy Sigue not necessarily. Pwede ka na magtake before ka ka magkaroon ng agency but bear in mind na yang mga exams na yan have expirations. 😊

Yes of course, it’s very well accepted and celebrated as a part of diversity of workforce 😊 in fact, I am currently working with a transwoman who’s already in her 60s, she’s doing a non-clinical role and I have transpinay friends here across so many different areas doing various roles 😊

Gee Pee hello! Nakalimutan ko yung DL 😱😂 pero it has changed na din kasi e. During my time, I had to wait from January until late May before na-issue yung DL ko pero ngayon, as early as a week upon arriving here in the UK, may DL na.
Also, dati very few yung nakakaalis na may DL na pero ngayon, maraming nasa Pinas pa lang may DL na 😊

Hi AJ! Thanks for dropping a question. I work in Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As far as I know, we’re still hiring through CTN and Omanfil.

kharen papa I did not have to pay anything sa agency. Pero during my time, I had to pay my own IELTS and CBT. If I heard it correctly, some agencies offer to pay those requirements in behalf of the applicants 😊
Maraming bang exam sa UK po?
dioscoro joel urian only two major exams: English proficiency (IELTS or OET), OSCE
But agencies sometimes provide mini exams for drug calculations and other things 😊

Why so many Philippinos becaming a nurse in the UK?
An Lu hi there! The answer to your question is because UK has a big demand for nurses and it just so happens that Philippines can supply the workforce. Apart from the Philippines, many of the overseas nurses working in the UK are from India and several African countries. Lately, nurses from USA and NZ also come over to work.

Mario Luigi as far as I know, depende sa trust/employer yan. Most of the UK hospitals ngayon do accept RNs with less than a year of experience and sometimes fresh grads are okay din
Mario Luigi check with the hospital you’re applying for. If you can’t get in touch with them, check with the agency
