nice idea.. created a whole one piece using 3d printer. and it work FLAWLESS.. been using a 1 year now...
thanks for the feedback. I have several other homemade powder coating gun made after this one and I only used materials readily available. It should be a lot nicer with a 3rd printer.

let’s not forget a very big part of this scheme. The powder particles must leave the tip of the gun positively charged in order to be attracted to the negatively charged part and adhere. to even stick properly, you’re talking 10,000V plus (especially when navigating the faraday affect I’ve enclosed shapes. I like the inside of a bowl) And that’s where it gets tricky.
It’s also where it gets dangerous. Dangerous, as in, one false move… and it’ll blow your feet off your body.
Hi. When navigating faraday cage areas, you want to reduce the kV of the gun. The powder coating guns in general make very high voltages up to 100 kV. But these are low power outputs. The current on these guns are only in 10s of microamps. It will give you a shock but definitely not lethal.
It’s not that dangerous. While voltage is high, current is very low. I made a very similar electrostatic gun a couple years ago and shared it with another TH-cam’er and while it worked great, it was difficult to find wire with thick enough insulation to stop massive static buildup.
If you heat the part to be done first, you don't need the electrostatic charge. Just make sure the part is up to curing temp before you spray it and the powder will cure to it on contact.

@@DIYPhil tama sir informative talaga iyong channel. Maraming beses na ako pabalik balik sa engine disassembly/assembly ng DT. Maganda din quality over quantity. Napakadali makita yung kailangan kong video. Madiskarte din approach mo sa tools. Imbes na bumili (at minsan lang ginagamit), gumawa na lang.

Hindi pwede. Nasa 200'c ang init para makapag powder coating. At powder po yung paint, tuyo po yun.

Anong part ng DT project gagamitan ng powder coating?
yung cylinder block, cylinder head, chassis, tank, swing arm. bale halos lahat po ng part na yari sa metal. yung right crank case cover din sana kasi iyun yung unang unang nagagasgasan ng pintura, kaso napinturahan ko na ng spray paint.
@@DIYPhil yung powder coat daw sa hi temperature at regular ay magka-iba. Nag inquire ako dito sa amin pero specialty nila ay mga rims. Yung sa makina lalo na sa mga mainit na mga part special powder coat ginagamit.
@@idselseno2306 thanks sa info. nakabili na ko ng powder, black. nung bibili ako 2 yung pamimilian. yung mas mahal ang binili ko na made in USA daw. tapos mas mataas yung curing temperature kaya baka yun na yung special powder. pero check ko pa rin sa supplier.
