That's Risky but interesting at the same time.

Word of advice. Those panels will get milky quickly when outside in the full sun. I place something which is called helicopter tape over them. I swap the tape like every 2 years because the tape will get hard and crispy, meaning very hard to remove. The panels last a lot longer this way.

Thanks, i will try to find that tape. So you are using panells like these many years? Do you use them for charging bateries or for something else?

@@VolosProjects If you want to see what I mean. TH-cam 'Protecting your small diy solar panels from oxidation' from Wtam69. TH-cam sometimes takes direct links off :-(. Maybe a bike shop has the tape in stock (or 100 times cheaper on Aliexpress if you have time) since they use it to protect bike frames.
I used one for my garden solar light. Some cheap stuff from aldi or Lidl, it has a small panel that produces like 100mA at 5.5V in the summer with direct light. During our crappy winter times the light went off after like an hour.
I bought a panel like yours to play with but it's always bigger is better and this panel was in my drawer quickly. So since it is like 5 to 6V output I could use it on the light because it has a much better output than the small panel that was included. So I velcro taped it to something pointing at the sun and wired it up with the light. The result was that the light now stayed on during the night.
Normally I had to sand down that panel due to oxidation every couple of months but after I saw the video from Wtam69 I began to test it. The tape was on for like 4 years and water got in between because the tape was hard and broken. The panel is in the garbage bin now. (used it for 6 years outside).
On another light which I bought 2 years ago I just replaced the tape. It is hard to remove and still doable but the panel is like new underneath that tape. I will now try to change it every year as part of the garden maintenance. On the other hand if you need a panel outside permanently keep your eyes open for panels that look like glass or the ones which have like a glass in front of them in a frame.
edit: Just went (1C in my shirt) outside to check on another solar string/garland outside (3 years now) and that panel is still perfectly clear.

which panel did you use for your project? same on this video or another one ?

@@psykopat81 If that is a question to me? I only use these if they are included in a purchase of like a solar lamp. These will get really bad if they always stay outside in the sun, rain... UV and moist kills them. If I were you try to find a panel with like a glass on top like you see those with an aluminium frame if you want a permanent install. Those will not go bad (unless moist gets underneat). If like Volos shows then you can find them in Chinese online shops. But be a bit careful since the 1.5 Watt what they say might be when being away from the sun 100km and the temperature being 0C. Always go for the bigger panel, the extra money is worth it. Also as Volos is using a TP4056 IC the input voltage cannot exceed 8 Volt.
But I think he made a mistake. Most Li-ion batteries can be used to about 3 Volt. Just check the manufacturers page of the batteries for that.

hi, What are the panel voltage and amperage values? Also, can't you charge the phone from the batteries while charging the batteries with the panel? So without removing the batteries

thanks for the hack! are you able to connect 2x 18650 batteries in parallel and then just use the 4056 chip to charge the phone?
