    UPDATE! I appreciate all of the love and support I received from sharing my UFE story. Many of you appreciated my honest truths about my recovery process. I do have to let you all know, one year later I had to have an Open Myomectomy from complications of the UFE. If you're considering having the UFE done, I encourage you to watch this video linked below. Remember I am only sharing my personal experience, what worked/didn't work for me may not be the same in your case. I encourage every women to research, go for second, third and even fourth opinions before deciding on anything.

    I had UFE in Jan 2014 by Sept 2015 I was pregnant boom had my Lil man June 2016, told the pregnancy was more likely a fluke, had my Lil Girl Oct of 2017. No complications from fibroids, both full-term vaginal births. U CAN GET PREGNANT AFTER UFE.

    I had the UFE procedure 6 days ago. I have never felt so much pain in my life and I have given birth before, had a hysteroscopy and gallbladder removal. The pain was so severe and intense that I was withering, sobbing in bed and wanted to rip my hair out out pain and despair. I could not sleep for about 4 days, still can’t eat very much because I’m nauseas and as a result I am very weak. The crippling pain is finally coming and going instead of being constant all day long. All the videos I’ve seen about UFE paint it to be minimally invasive, painless and easy to recover from. Lies. I don’t know if I could go through that unbearable strangulation on my uterus again. It was so bad I had to stay 2 nights at the hospital instead of one. Just please beware and know this is not an easy procedure. Much love and luck to you as I am still dealing with pain and bleeding from it.

    I am currently recovering from my UFE procedure by Dr. Lipman in Atlanta, GA. It’s day 2 post “surgery” and I feel really good. I’m about to go walking now to help with constipation but that’s normal. I’m still on Motrin and stool softener but the Oxycodone I only take as needed for the past 24 hours (maybe twice). The cramping is tolerable with a heating pad. I had 20 fibroids. 2 huge ones and the rest small. The wound site, you barely notice it. This may be hard to believe but I already feel better. Thanks for sharing your progress! Good luck to all you ladies on your journey.

    Thank you for sharing your story. I am 4 days post my UFE and the pain I am experiencing today happens to the worse so far. The hospital gave me Oxy, Tylenol and morphine, but when discharge they only prescribed me naproxen which I declined because I also happen to be in blood thinners, so I am solely relying on over the counter Tylenol. It’s just extremely comforting to know I have a community of women who are experiencing exactly what I am because for years I have felt alone and different living with fibroids, heavy periods and not being able to enjoy life the way others could. I pray this pain I am experiencing is because my fibroids are shrinking away to never return so I don’t have to undergo a hysterectomy. Bless you all for being brave to share your stories! ❤️

    I had this procedure done two days ago. Thanks to your video, I was well prepared and over prepared perhaps. The first day was rough but I had morphine pump. I asked for anti nausea medication and constipation medication before I started the procedure. I tried not to eat anything except fluids as I don’t have appetite and I was slightly nauseous. I vomited three times despite taking the anti nausea meds as the medicine actually trigger the vomit. As I didn’t have solid. My vomit was mostly water. Not painful or gross. I had a few nuts the first day after I arrive home. And continues with clear liquids. I stayed away from opioid as it will cause severe constipation and alternate between Tylenol and ibuprofen the first day. One thing that’s really helpful, is hot water bag. I would put it under my small back then on my stomach. It helped me to stay comfortable and getting enough rest without touching opioid. I walked around and did light chores such as packing up the light household items to prepare move, and when the cramping seems to come back, I get another fresh hot water bag and cuddle it while in bed or watch a show. I took lactulose the first night I got home and produced a very nice soft even a bit running stool this morning. My stomach deflated right away and pain seems to lessened a lot. Since I haven’t eaten much, it felt that I have cleared myself out pretty well. I wish I have done this before the procedure, you know, clean inside out going into it. I plan to stick to clear liquid for a few days until the pain is completely gone without hot water bag. If Women tend to have low appetite for 1-2 weeks, why push it, right? I feel like with the hot water bag, I don’t even need pain medication. Although my doctor did ask me to take ibuprofen 800 daily to cut down inflammation. So I do take that one only. I used to do water fast. I know the fast actually decreases inflammation as well. Maybe this is why on my second day, my pain is literally at 0-1. I think as long as I keep the hot water bag near by and keep clear liquid. I should sail through without an issue. I did feel much more cramping yesterday (post op day 1), but let me tell you, hot water bag took away 80% of pain if not more!

      Thanks for sharing. it means a lot to me. Do you think that an ice pack would help to keep the swelling down because I heard after surgery, the hysterectomy patients would use the ice pack to reduce swelling. Just wondering about that because you mentioned the heating pad or hot water bag helped you to relieve the pain caused by the UFE. Thank you.

    Thought I should let you know that I just had my procedure done and although it was painful, it was bearable. Trust me, you can do it. Why? Well, because I have no threshold for pain but I did it and so can you.
    It's more discomfort at the beginning, because you feel you want to go to the toilet but it's not happening.. however, it does after a little while.
    I had my procedure done 27/06/2022. And it's 29th June 2022 today, pain is very bearable.

    Wow, so sad that you experienced so much pain. My embolization was done going through the femoral artery and I did go through pain but not pain as bad as yours. Needing to pee was the only thing that was uncomfortable for me but I felt awesome after I did my peeing. I loved it when this procedure caused me to have no more periods and I loved it when my stomach went flat and I lost 60 pounds after this procedure. The tumors had me all blown up with so much weigh gain, I was miserable without any energy or sex drive; of course, this was when I was way younger than I am today. This operation is cheaper than any food diet program because the insurance pays for it. I got my energy and happy self back after this procedure, for many years now.

    I had my UFE today. I have been struggling to work, and with anemia due to blood loss, feelings of being bloated and completely unmotivated. I swear I thought I was going through depression. A complete wreck. I was a bit relieved once I was able to get my ultrasound and results from my doctor. At that point I knew I was able to reverse or deal with this situation better. I was laughing during your video because I literally went through much of what you experienced. From the poking several times to get the ivy started (which by the way never happens to me), then the valum, to the being awake, the "hot sensation", not being able to pee, nausea, lol...but what really got me was the 800 motrin and Oxy! Girl! I took 2 motrin within 4 hours!😂 you are so right...the pain is no joke, and then the oxy had the nerve to kick in after an hour and a half. Omg! The contractions is exactly what I told me family I felt. I concur 100% on your findings. This is just day 1 for me. Pray for me through days 2-10.

      Very Vanessa hi! YES! I had my UFE March 17 so now I’m almost 4 months out! I was in a lot of pain for about 3 straight days but the pain WAS WORTH IT! My periods are so much better now. I can’t believe I actually have a “normal” period now 😅 Even my normal period cramps aren’t as intense. I wish I would have had UFE years ago honestly.

    I had the surgery a few weeks ago. The worst part for me was the catheter. I had them go through my wrist instead of my groin as well and I too felt that heat and screamed out. I was a bit zoned, but they do not put you to sleep for this surgery. The pain was awful right after, the pain then made me nauseous too. They did not remove the catheter until a couple hours after surgery while I was in the recovery room. As soon as they removed it, I finally felt the need within a half hour and sorry to hear you had such a hard time with that part. My biggest issue was my pressure had sky rocketed due to the pain, they literally checked me every half hour to make sure I did not have a heart attack. Was grateful it dropped after a good concoction of pain reliever and nausea medicine by morning. At home I took so much drugs to relieve pain I ended up constipated and once I got that relief realized the pain was partly due to that and gas because it was hard to eat. I hear you on the movement makes more pain. I had the luxury of my period starting at the same time of my surgery and then it finally tapered off and now I just see the brown stuff. Looking forward to my 6 month checkup.

    I just had mines done on 12th but my incision was in groin because they could not find a strong vein in my wrist. My biggest was 9cm and growing smh. When you described how the fibroid is basically feeding off of our body, all I could think of is it's literally like being pregnant providing nutrients to your baby. I alreasy have children but I too felt that release, that freeing feeling of feeling so light. I felt like WOW I am finally going to have my life back my energy back. I also went through same constipation pain but mines happened literally by the 3rd day I ended back in the ER because I was also experiencing gas pains in my chest. Haha it is now day 7 and I am feeling a lot better but mild discomfort. Overall so happy I did this procedure over being cut. My clinical team was also great. It so far has been a very freeing experience. Thanks for sharing

    I had my procedure 12/10/2019 an I'm so glad they kept me in the hospital overnight and they had me on an epidural and morphine in between an upped my epidural when it wasn't enough to control the pain from the time of surgery until the next afternoon when I told them I wanted to go home and they slowly took me off the epidural meds but said if i was in to much pain they wouldn't let me go home. Luckily I was ok.. An let me tell you they sent me home with 5 medications 2 for muscle/nerve pain and spasms and prescription strength tylenol as well as oxycontin. My doctor was a man an still knew what the possibility of how much pain there could be. So the moral of the story is that don't allow any doctor to let you be in extreme pain like that.. So sorry you had to go through that.

    • @veryvanessa
      @veryvanessa  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s more post-op guidelines to follow:
      Groin: Must lay flat for at least 6 hours. Must have indwelling Foley catheter.
      Wrist: Won’t need to lay flat & catheter is not necessary.
      When you wake up from surgery you’re going to be in a lot of pain. I can’t imagine having to lay flat with the amount of pain I was in. Ultimately it’s up to your doctor on which artery she/he feels more comfortable using. From the jump my doc wanted to use my wrist.

I'm not bleeding so much just fatigue and painful cramps for past 4 cycles of my period period but i thought it was my age as i get close to my 40s. I was so ignorant until i went to a gynecologist and she was so mean and said I had huge tumors and she gave me only one option to remove my uterus. I was devastated. I'm not planning to have children but i dont want to be mutilated like that. I learned about UFE procedure searching online for a different alternative than removing my womb and I'm considering UFE. I feel everything your saying 😪 I Just had mine done 11/5/20 they went in through tiny tiny incision in my groin. Most excruciating pain I’ve ever felt in my life after the procedure was complete and I’m popping the Oxy and Naproxen like it’s candy since being released from the hospital the next day. Im bleeding everyday since the procedure but it’s not heavy but it’s still like I’m on my menstrual or something so I know I will be needing some Iron. I’ve also lost like 20lbs because have had no real desire to eat anything at all until like yesterday. Think I’m gonna get some ensure or something also. I just pray that this really does reduce the size of my fibroids and brings me some relief from my very bloody painful menstral cycles. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I feel like this subject isn't talked about. I have fibroids and I had surgery a myomectomy to be exact back in 2009. I was told that was my only option because of their location, size and that I wanted to have kids. I had 12 removed. 4 that was significant in size. From smallest to largest egg yolk, egg, grapefruit and cantaloupe. Unfortunately they came back before I had the chance to get pregnant.

    Thank you for sharing your story and it brought tears to my eyes. You're such a brave and beautiful lady. Nice that you are a nurse. My daughter is currently attending her second year of nursing collage. Her Nana is a retired nurse herself. I can truly appreciate what nurses do. You all put up with alot out there.
    I currently have fibroids and I am going to meet with a radiologist soon. I am just waiting for the phone call. This appointment is a no obligation on my part but to ask questions about the procedure.
    The UFE procedure is not an overnight stay in the hospital which surprised me. The procedure would be done through my wrist just like you had done. Did you have an overnight stay or was it a day thing for you to ?
    My gnocologist tells me that the procedure is 85 % effective.
    After hearing about the terrible pain you went through it scares me. I appreciate your honesty about it though. I dealt with extremely painful herniated disks in my back in which I just wanted to die from the pain alone. So if I got through that twice in my life I guess I can get through the UFE pain. I just know that I can't live with these things anymore. I despise these blood sucking, life stealing vampires. I have dealt with fibroids for years now. Trying to make a decision on treatment has been super challenging . I felt like no matter which choice I make it will be life altering for me. I just hope I don't end up regretting my desicion with having the UFE procedure. I really hope for no long term side effects in the long run either. I'm such a worry wort I know but I can't help it.

    • @veryvanessa
      @veryvanessa  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks so much Judy. I’m happy this video provided some insight for you and hopefully answered some of the questions you had regarding UFE. As far as overnight stay, it is up to the Interventional Radiologist on their specific protocols and also how much pain you’re in post surgery. The first 24 hours are by far the worst but it’s tolerable with the right pain management in place. Your heating pad will become your best friend for the first 4 days and even up to the first 10 days. Preparation mentally and physically I believe is key to achieving success. Modifying diet, limiting stress. And being kind to your body. Getting rest and getting back to feeling like YOU again. I’m so happy I did UFE. Trust me... it changed my life. I’m no longer running to the bathroom every 20-30 minutes dropping clots left and right. I’m no longer bleeding through my sheets during my cycle. It changed my life for the better!

    Vanessa..I'm a mom of 2kids 7 nd 4yrs old respectively. I've been told i have fibroids without elaborate explanation just from ultrasound results. 3yrs ago I lost a pregnancy which was awful but I refused a D&c nd waited it out nd by the grace of God i pulled through the pain nd bleeding. 5months ago, I had this excruciating pain on my right lower abdomen that won't go away for some days, went to an obgyn nd she ordered an ultrasound that she said she found fibroids...dat was d second time I was told..first was in may of 2017. I dont have the common symptom of heavy periods..I still have my regular usual 3-4days menstruation,27says cycle,ov on 12th or 13th day. Though I still feel this pressure on my right abdomen from time to time especially during my OV although I've always felt the pressure there since I was in college that's how I actually know I'll be ovulating or to look out for it in 24hrs but not as painful and this disappears after ovulation. Meanwhile, after I went to the doctor cos one this day it felt like an appendix was about to explode inside of me. I took blessed olive oil nd prayed nd that excruciating pain disappeared till today. I claimed it as my healing .That's my testimony. But it still in my head that I was told I have fibroids. What can you make out of my story regarding the symptoms
