- Major General George Norton CBE, Major General Commanding The Household Division and General Officer Commanding London District, inspected all three Public Duties Incremental Companies and the Regimental Bands based at London Central Garrison, Wellington Barracks on Wednesday 22nd March 2012.
Here we have the inspection of Nijmegen Company Grenadier Guards along with the Band of The Grenadier Guards.
You are awesome.
Love, an American.
The videos were great to see and hear, makes me feel very proud of my regiment.
2:31 Senior Drum Major WO2 Matthew J. Betts, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards leading The Band of the Grenadier Guards
@ 0;46... RSM Billy Mott. A walking talking legend !
Thanks for sharing this video. Also the explanations regarding the augmentation of the band using musicians from other CAM units as well as the member not in Home Service dress.
A new member of the band, either transferred recently from another band or a new recruit, whose uniform has not completed the tailoring process yet.
The Guards bands have recently had musicians transferred in "temporarily" from other Corps of Army Music bands to make up the numbers ready for the Jubilee ceremonial this year.
Watch this in two times speed!
Whilst dressing the rear rank he is shouting "forward/back no.xx Still!" followed by "Stand still the rear rank of the right half division!"
great posting! great music!
Major General looked the shoes at, not shining means problem. No one got notes.
awesome military inspection.
👍
The Grenadier Guards are my favourite regiment of foot guards in the British Army.
Thanks for the explanation.
Now I hear it. Thank you.
Well the Danes managed to get their bearskins from somewhere.
Would you explain the one odd uniform in the band?
I feel good all the times dear if i see Soldier's USA and England the best freedom Country that good so much dear Thanks again sir
The arms (not their weapons) are swinging slightly sloppy here on Quick March.
What is the march that starts at 3:23?
Have the size of the Guards bands increased as there are 40 musicians present rather than the usual 35 and one member does not have full dress ceremonial uniform on? Have tried to look carefully but can't spot any other regiments making up the band numbers.
What's the piece of incidental music? A GG Related slow march I assume?
Great Video.
@troopingadmin i've heard it a couple of times in trooping the colour. what is the name of the tune that starts at 2:44? thanks!
What is the first song on the first part?"
It's 'The British Grenadiers' quick march
Special day. eg Royal Birthday. Very fortunate young men.
@troopingadmin
I've listened to my share of shouting NCO's, but I can't make out what The Reg here is on about? Clues?
How long the size of the Guards bands has been only 35 musicians? Or is that only the size of Marching Band? I mean do Band have more musicians but only 35 playing?
I remember that few years ago the Guards band had 49 musicians. Are defence cuts the reason why band are getting smaller and smaller? Other British Army bands are relatively small, only about 25 musicians on parades if i'm correct.
Obviously, they would get them from somewhere else.
Was there a guy wearing his working dress?
what is the name of the song they play after the present arms?
+Theodore Andriopoulos It's a short excerpt from 'Scipio' which is The Grenadier Guards Slow March and is always used by the Guards for a 'General Salute' (i.e. a member of royalty is not present. A 'Royal Salute' uses the National Anthem)
Thanks I've been searching for that song for ages.
Cherylajt, what's his name, I was on that.
It's brigadier general you gnomes
My boyfriend is on this :D -3 x x
Along with the one not in glory order why was the musician not wearing a buff belt and the rsm no sword
wouldnt be like it my day(50`s)
Why is the man with the colour always 'protected' with two soldiers near him?
Because the colour is usually the most sacred item a regiment/battalion owns. It may just be an embroidered piece of silk but its symbolism is immense. The two soldiers on his sides are to defend the colour should someone attack - I've heard a story of a colour escort (as they are known) hitting someone who was running at the colour with his rifle.
Thanks a lot Alex Crane!
No worries.
They are known as the escort and as Alex said, they protect the colour and may attack people who try and run at it.
Ok, thanks, AsboJunior!
