I would also include and surprised you didn't: On your feet or on your knees and Extraterrestrial live by BOC. Supported Strangers in the Night all the way, it's a worthy and deserved winner of your competition.

    An underrated gem of heavy live blues rock is Fleetwood Mac’s “Live in Boston” (1970). Doesn’t get much better than the twin guitar attack of Peter Green and Danny Kirwan! Both of them at the top of their game on their Les Pauls.

    My favorite live album is CHICAGO Live at Carnegie Hall, which contains some of the very best bass guitar performances of all time. Peter Cetera was the Hendrix of bass players in the 1970's.... Take a listen and you just might agree with me.

    • @mmk7340
      @mmk7340 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I agree, it's a great live release. Much better than live in Japan IMO. Terry Kath is one of the best guitarists ever and you rarely hear him mentioned with the other top players.

    • @JimmyPlato1
      @JimmyPlato1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi M K. Great comments. And I totally agree that Carnegie Hall is a much better live performance than Live in Japan. Terry Kath was a giant, and was underrated because he was a team player in a horn-based rock band instead of a guitar-based rock band.

    • @mmk7340
      @mmk7340 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@JimmyPlato1 you can say what you want about 80s Chicago with Cetera as the frontman (I hated the musical direction they took) , but the guy was an excellent bassist. Carnegie really showcases that and also there's much more Kath guitar. That is always a good thing IMO.

    • @genefalls5023
      @genefalls5023 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Very pleasantly surprised to see this mentioned; I play it to this day. Kath was a great player, as was Cetera. Danny Seraphine shows what a monster and underrated drummer he is throughout the whole four album release! It gets beat up a lot because of the poor recorded sound and some sloppy playing here and there but it really showcases what a strong and talented group of musicians the originals were, especially during their early days!

    • @beboprichie
      @beboprichie 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @JimmyPlato totally agree with you about Chicago Live At Carnegie Hall
      Always couldn’t understand how it doesn’t get it’s just due...the sound quality is much much better than people complain about always
      Kath was a complete monster & Peter Cetera is just killing on the bass
      Danny Seraphine has always been one of the greatest drummers IMO
      The remastered 4 disc set put out maybe 15 years ago is an item I hope to pass down to my grandchildren some day if ever blessed

    First of all, I would like to wish you Merry Christmas, and to express my gratitude for advising me (I was using a different nickname) to go and see Deep Purple on this tour! It was a great concert in Belgrade, Serbia, the arena was packed, great crowd, Don, Steve and Roger were on fire! Paice was solid, and Gillan was..you know :)
    Anyway, my favorite live albums are Kiss Alive! (although I become a fan because of Alive III) and DP Made in Japan, those bands are so good live, DP's virtuosity and jamming and Kiss's energy are something special - and these are my all time favourite rock bands. And Kiss is one of the few bands that could sound better live than in the studio.
