You have to go to New Orleans!!!! it would make a great episode too! you should go to Domilise's for a Po-Boy and then over to Jacques-Imo's for dinner and get the BBQ shrimp and some Alligator cheesecake.
@samthecookingguy I can't believe you call this Po Boy Tacos, New Orleans style, without using Tony Chachere's. Using Old Bay in Louisiana is a sin. I can't believe you're going to sell these to people while using Old Bay. It's just so wrong. You should do an apology video and make them the right way. Silly Canadian, it's obvious you've never been to Louisiana.
I came here to say this very thing. My wife used to live in New Orleans and says you should be using Zatarains and if you can’t get that, Tony Chachere’s. In her words “Old Bay is for Yankees”
It’s just simply not true my friend. Tony’s definitely has its place just like old bay has its place the same way Louisiana hot sauce has a place and Tobasco has its place. Different applications. From my experience old bay is the way to go for seafood.
I just received a shrimp delivery - 10lb American Wild shrimp - and this recipe is so timely! I will make a few alterations: air fry, use crushed potato chips for the coating, and adding a few jalapeños to the tomato/lettuce mix. Cheers!
The best channel on the planet. I do not mess a show matter fact I do not believe I have missed an upload in 4 years. Started watching before you had a million subscriber so still a newbie and still remember the count down video to a million. I'm not the greatest cook in the world but watch Sam to motivate me to do more and try to get out of my comfort zone.
I've been to New Orleans a couple of times, and all I can say is that It's an amazing city! I found going during the Heritage Jazz festival is the best time!
March: beef short rib ragu bolognese I don’t have my recipe anymore but I know the ribs were braised in a red wine and tomato sauce with sautéed onion celery and carrots served with wide long pasta and it was fabulous
Marylander here. Warms my heart to see you singing the praises of Old Bay, hon! It's pretty much a law in Maryland to have a can of Old Bay in the pantry. 🤣 I would probably agree that it may be a little more tame than actual Cajun seasoning.
Bleck... Old Bay is the worst seasoning blend. Yeah yeah I know you can't argue taste. You love it and I'm happy to let you do so. To me it tastes like something scrapped off the bottom of a work boot of someone who's been down at the docks shoveling up fish guts. If I do a low country boil it's either gotta be full cajun or a blend. I can't do Old Bay straight or it makes me want to dry heave. Literally, not even exaggerating. My son's girl friend didn't believe me. Alright I'm game... Tastes buds change maybe I can handle it. After about the 3rd shrimp she puts her hand over mine... "Please stop.... your hurting my soul watching you will yourself to swallow those and not vomit."
I'm from Louisiana and literally love trying something new everytime I go to New Orleans. Something that you should try to make is homemade gumbo all the stuff you do by yourself, and it can be either/or chicken and sausage or seafood. Love how y'all are hard on each other bc it makes me laugh at y'all that much more.
March: Tostada Burger. Bottom layer up: tostada shell, refried beans, cheese, pico or salsa (nice jalapeno relish) burger patty, lots melted cheese. Some use the tostada shell, some dont. Make it your own.
I've added so much to my arsenal from watching your videos. The amount of people that have been impressed from my (your) recipes is astounding. Keep em comin
As a New Orleanian, you should try a surf 'n' turf poboy. Shredded roast beef with gravy and fried shrimp dressed with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayo. Also, smaller shrimp allows for more coverage on the bread, so I'd recommend that for the traditional sandwich. Also, remoulade is pronounced raw-moulade.
Some of these simple and quick recipes are my absolute favorites that you guys share- something that can be made on a weeknight/in a hurry, but still be delicious! Thanks for reminding us all that we can experience special meals right in our own kitchen...
I recommend a seasoning change to the breading flour and sauce: Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning Mix. Old Bay is great, but for more authentic Louisiana cuisine flavor, you can't beat Tony's.
@@jenniferklesz7071 - As with any seasoning, season to taste. What you're getting with Tony's is the cayenne pepper and other flavors accosted with Cajun and Creole cooking.

Just had some stuffed wings and Blue Crab Bisque was heavenly! New Orleans has some of the best food on the planet and chefs around the world will vouch for it. Love your work! Happy Mardi Gras!!! Cheers
You're definitely right about Old Bay. My brother told me to try it on chicken wings as a dry rub and I was skeptical at first but I tried it and it was so good. I always thought of it as a seasoning for seafood but it's so much more than that!
The music selection while breading was spot on. I felt like I was watching the ring master at the Circus. Oh, the childhood memories. Cook on Boss Man Max.. Cheers!!!
