With the recent passing of Wayne June, it would equally be devastating if we loose the best composer for Darkest Dungeon 2 too. That's how you know how great and impactful their works of art to us. Great music and composition as always Sir Stuart, as many have already said, the game wouldn't be great and the same without your contribution to it 🫡.
@@carbonated_7977 Yep, the devs made a post in their YT channel and their official discord about his passing. I think he died 3 days after the release of Kingdoms and Catacombs Update. His recent post in X was him being genuinely happy and excited for the Update too. Very heartwrenching :(. At least he had his last HURRAH.
I know another comment said it first, but since we lost Wayne June, it made me think about the composer of Darkest Dungeon and how we take for granted he will be here for the entirety of Darkest Dungeon's lifespan. If Chris Baroussa is the heart of Darkest Dungeon and Wayne June is the soul, Stuart Chatwood is the voice of this body of work.
This made my 87 year old Dad suffering from dementia smile, frown, raise his arms in the air and nearly cry. Absolute brillance once again, thank you for sharing your talent with the world.
Honestly, I'm quite satisfied with the variety of areas present in DD2 thus far, but at this point I want more simply because I know more of your music will follow along with them. Yet another one for my Dungeons and Dragons session playlist. Thank you, Stuart.
One of my all time favorite video game soundtracks, not one song has been a letdown in both the first and second game. Thank you for making such masterpieces that tie gameplay and thematics so perfectly!
I love this. It manages to be so subdued compared to your other tracks, and the violin absolutely steals the show, such a simple yet utterly perfect OST.
I can already feel the fear festering in my mind, excellent track. Also, Rest In Peace to Wayne June, the horrors will never be the same without him. 🕯️
Stuart - your music gets me through tough times, my wife is sick of hearing me play it sometimes lol😆 thank you for amazing music that perfectly captures the battle between struggle vs perserverance👏👏👏
Just heard this theme while playing Kingdoms earlier today. Was expecting to see the usual Sluice, got creeped out, then this banger started playing. I absolutely love how you managed to give each region's music a very distinct feel and it fits extremely well (A big step up from DD1 base game). Was on edge the whole time in the catacombs!
I just want to say I think The Decisive Combat, this piece, and your DD1 Cove Theme are all fantastic. I'd love to see some more into your creative process!
I need this in the steam OST i bought NOW, but this will do for now. Thank you so much for the official upload. Those saw'ing violins make me shake by rump like a turtle getting it's behind scratched by a toothbrush.
This man cannot miss. Seriously, I find the music made in DD1/DD2 so good that I'd actually watch a video of you explaining your thought process when it comes to composing these tracks and giving them their atmosphere.
You always do such justice to the MOOD the music needs to convey in the moment. Of all your tracks though this one really hits for me. Truly a great composition!
I had written another piece for this area, but I scrapped it because I wasn't feeling it. It's so important that I like the music myself first before I send it out for the game. I don't wanna let anyone down.
@@StuartChatwood I appreciate the effort you put into it. Axing something you worked at because you know it's not the right fit is not easy. You are truly one of a kind, darkest dungeon wouldn't be the same without you. It's been such a joy to hear your music over the years!
Fantastic work as always! The contrast with this track being more subdued with those moments on dangerous energy sets it apart beautifully from the others! It makes the catacombs feel like its own place, a dangerous location that is fittingly morose. The moment the dlc came out I scoured the internet trying to find the track! It’s one of the things I love most about this game!
There is something with the Unknown of the Catacombs that gets portrayed so well in this song. Gives of a vibe of: Look out, enemies are all around you! you better keep moving! Outstanding song. i love it!
The king of music design is back baby! Thank you for your hard work! Your sound tracks are forever my most listened to music :), you should be very proud of yourself!
Love how sinister and creepy the OST is. There's no awe or spectacle to be felt, just pure unease and horror. Fits perfectly with the slimes because they aren't some 10 foot tall screaming tentacle monster, they're a corruptive influence that slowly consumes you.
You'd see a video of me saying "not good, not good, not good then yes this rocks!" You have to push through those moments of self doubt then things click.
I love the feeling this track has, is like a lurking evil, an evil that is everwhere, overwhelming you from every direction, just like the slimes surrounding you in-game!!
I don't play the game (i should !) but i still keep an ear around when new tracks come out and boy i am not disapointed. Always a treat to hear those !
As horrible as Wayne June’s passing is, I’m glad we got to experience his voice at all. I’ve loved his VO work and his Lovecraft audiobooks and I have those FOREVER.
