Hey there again all you beautiful people how are you all this week? Great I hope. Today something interesting to melt down some type of mower from the 50s and it's certainly an accident waiting to happen as you can see. Not to worry all is good it's on the shelf now so check it out and enjoy today's video hopefully I'll see you all next Friday but most importantly have the best weekend you can😁👋🏻
Do you think it would be possible to pour a mit of copper or bronze in to a mold, let it cool down a bit but not completely solidify and the pour brass after it (and repeat a couple times) so they mix a bit but not completely? I think such an ingot could look cool. Also, your timer for the dogs segment isn't accurate, your seconds are about 2 seconds long.
My grandfather used an old sump pump motor to make one, because a friend of my uncle said he couldn’t do it. Only bad part was it was in the early ‘80’s and that thing was so damn heavy, it would take all your energy to do a couple passes. They lived in southeast Ohio and it is very hilly. Plus trying to find a long enough cord to run it for the whole yard was impossible. Plus the voltage drop was very noticeable about half way through the front yard. Which equaled more passes and having to use the gas mower anyway. But, grandpa proved he could do it.
This is great! I thought it looked homemade too but then searched and found that they were sold as a mower and grinder multi-tool in the mid to late 50's. The advert starts with "No toy but a sturdy efficient Power Unit..." and "does sawing, angle sawing, grooving, mitreing, rabbeting, mortising, drilling, rip fence, sanding", whilst mowing the lawn apparently. Thanks for the smiles, have a safe weekend yourself, especially with that frozen lawn.
Totally agreed! For me is over 40 degree too, and well I will relocate myself in a colder country at the end of this year. In my home country I cannot live anymore with this heat. I will go to 40 to -40, wish me luck😅😂
Nice melt Big D! Getting sooooo close to 1,000! I don't think I'd be on my own by thinking that there will be a BIG melt to get over that 1,000kg. Have a great weekend buddy.
Thanks once again my friend you are a champion. Yes I’m definitely tracking down something that’ll blow through the 1 t mark and I need to make sure it’s well over half a tonne whether it’s a motor or an engine or whatever the hell it will be. Thinking I’ll be tracking down a very old electric motor as that way I can pretty much guarantee it will be a lot of copper inside. Here’s hoping anyway👊🏻😁.
Damn, I thought that lawn mower was pretty cool until I saw that BigSnackD! Chorizo and pepperoni on a double bacon cheeseburger with jalapeño?!?! What?! Looks so good.
Sitting here in S/E Michigan enjoying my coffee and the video of my favorite creator. The one, the only BigstackD!! applause in the background, envy from the BigsnackD, and that tonne is getting closer and closer. I always love a good copper melt! It is a bit difficult to sit on the porch as the smoke from Canada has come down here in huge amounts for the 5th day in a row now with warnings to stay inside as its so bad. Its tolerable right now with the temp at 65 f ( 18 C ) but wont be this afternoon when it hits 89 f ( 31.6 C ). I hope the people near the fires have managed to get out of the way. It is strange that dozens of fires started within minutes and hours of each other with no lightning storms in the area! I hope everyone has a great weekend and my fellow Americans have a fun and safe independence day on the 4th!
Well good luck with all the people over on that side of the planet, I I have no idea what’s happening in the world right now and I try to keep it that way as any news is normally bad news so I haven’t watched tv in years, I still keep up to date through TH-cam videos and stuff like that but I won’t watch the local or world news as it’s too depressing and as much as I might be interested in what’s happening with the rest of the world it’s always gonna make me worry about something I can’t control so as I say I just don’t watch it any more. But anyway my friend enjoy your coffee have have an awesome weekend👊🏻😁
@bigstackD I agree, I don't watch TV at all or listen to news. I get the straight story from people saying look at the fires that started on their weather satellite feed. Take care!
@@bigstackD I couldn't agree more! I haven't watched the news in about a decade unless something major has happened. That's about the only time you get news vs opinion . and odds are if something "big" is happening" something bigger is being overlooked
so glad you kept the timber handlebar.....what you had was a very common thing to see in the 50's....and a part of Aussie backyard history too.......a lot of creative people around after WW2 finished.....
AHHHHHHHHH best channel ever, and my FAV thing to do on a Fri night, spend time with ingot and bullion, D and relax. TY so much for sharing this. it truly is my therapy. TY.
I always assume Australia is a tropical climate and it blows my mind that there is an actual winter! It makes sense given where it is, im relation to the equator, but it still amazes me! Cheers from Canada! I just showered and am tucking into bed after a long 10hr shift (4:15am here) THANKS FOR THE VID! 🤗
It's a land if contrasts. Up north it can be 30 degree C+ days all year long. Where I am in a south eastern state, it got to -8C last week - and it's funny, because I thought to myself "well, that's nothing, think about those poor Canadians..."
The nut that wouldn't come off was probably lefthand thread. You might have known that already. One side of the grinder will always have LH fasteners. I was surprised you didn't keep that clicky power switch, just to play with 😄
I worked at GMF in the early 70's and they made petrol mowers after WW2 but not many, their grinders and washing machine motors were their bread and butter I have never seen one of these but the serial number starting with a H means it was around 1950-1960 no later be careful of the capacitor as it is filled with PCB.
It looks more like a mini concrete smoother than a mower... What a crazy piece of equipment... I have watched years 1, 2 and about halfway through year 3, and I've enjoyed each and every one of them. Thank you, and have a fabulous weekend yourself...
I always love watching you work. Great video today, as always. Interesting and creative use of that knife. It surely made less metal.dust than the cutting disc. You lost me on that burger. I was with you to the bacon. Could even go the jalapenos. But pepperoni? And chorizo? I love pepperoni pizza and often make chorizo, potato and egg breakfast tacos (I live in South Texas) but on a bacon cheese burger?? LOL Different strokes for different folks. You're welcome to it. :)
Finally somebody respectful enough to give a centipede warning. Thank you for that. Those things are devil spawn. Nothing should have that many legs. I've got a big phobia of those demons.

Indeed you did my friend, because they weren’t pure aluminium they were an aluminium alloy and probably had something else mixed with them at the factory to make the casing so they won’t have the same shrinkage as a block that’s almost pure aluminium if that makes sense👍🏻

It is (was) yours to do with what you wish but I bet there are any number of old tool refurbishing you tube channels out there that would have given anything to get a chance to bring that machine back to life. Probably could have traded it to them for more scrap copper than is contained within it, and they'd both come out ahead. I say realizing that this man doesn't need my business advice, since he's the one with the big channel. It's just a thought that your comment made me think.
Imagine going back in time and showing the person who made this lawnmower this video... I think they would be genuinely impressed at their creation. I meen you would have to explain the internet and how it works first, but still
I had to explain the internet to my uncle in 2017. By then he still never used a cell phone. You couldn't even explain texting to him like he was little kid but let him meet a single lady that likes texting more and that mofo turns into a super genius and learned really fast.

That mower had a grindstone to sharpen its own blades. Ingenious!
Came to say this
someone got the bright idea to turn the bench grinder into a lawn mower or the other way around, i agree that's ingenious!
My grandfather used an old sump pump motor to make one, because a friend of my uncle said he couldn’t do it. There's a lawnmower nerd weeping right now.
😂😂😂😂
That was a grinder/polisher mounted on its side. I doubt anyone tried to mow with it more than once. 😂
Well I am sad about the grinder. Could have restored that
There's always a lawnmower nerd weeping somewhere 😂

I'd take the -0.5 over +40 any day. At least when its cold you can layer and bundle up. Not much you can do to escape the heat
I predict in the next century that will become an increasingly popular opinion lol

I'm also Canadian and didn't realize it ever went below zero there.
