      And the thing, whn you get to that part, it's not a debuff, it's a buff. "To live is to suffer. To drink of calamity. It is a perilous path. Death lurks in the dark. Do not avert your eyes. See your life for what it is. *See how the hardships make you strong. Every doudt reforged as scales for your armor.*"

    The best thing about this song is the way they built it into the game. When you first arrive in Ultima Thule, it's just odd echoey chords without much structure, but as you progress further and further into the story of the area (and the last part of the story of the expansion in general) the songs gets more and more structure, then when you get to the point where the lyrics come in, the game has built you up to an emotional climax, and it's almost overwhelming. Absolute genius use of music to convey that.

      its arguably the greatest gaming song of all time? just like you said how its built in. and the final scene maybe the most impactful, emotional, and greatest scene a video game has ever created

      To say it's almost overwhelming I would say is an understatement. I'm not going to lie, when I heard the lyrics playing through the MSQ in Ultima Thule for the first time, I cried. There were so many emotions stirring I couldn't hold them back. Playing this game for about 6 years, completing a story 10 years in the making, It was hard NOT to cry hearing that song. And it easily ranks as one of my favorite Final Fantasy songs of all time.

    I'm not a crier during video games, but damn I was sobbing when I played through this part. The developers of this game are phenomenal.

    This whole track being played over the voices of our past comrades (as the Warrior of Light) as we march up the steps to face Oblivion was probably the most feels moment in Endwalker.

    • @DodderingOldMan
      @DodderingOldMan ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I'd call it the most feels moment in the history of gaming... or maybe the history of all media. But then, I do really like FFXIV.

    • @TheUnderJaker
      @TheUnderJaker ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DodderingOldMan if you actually played through the whole story over all these years. this is really hard to argue against. Preach played it for only 2 years and he cried on that part. its incredible

    What I love about this song is how it nods to past expansions:
    “Morning rises on a land Reborn from ashes (ARR)
    ‘Neath the Heavens (Heavensward)
    To sunset Blood red skies tranquil after the Storm (Stormblood)
    Blessed Shadow (Shadowbringer)”

    The notable part of the song is... the lyrics don't kick in until our nearest friends sacrifice their lives to open up the way forward for us to fight the being that is coming to end all life.

    The intro, using the power of music to save the day, reminded me of the mood from the video game "Gitaroo Man" which was a rhythm game where each stage was a different music style, most of the tunes are pretty great. It'd be easy to knee-jerk recommend "Bee Jam Blues" for its funk. Best way to think of it is each song is like a versus jam session between a a guitar and a different opposing instrument each stage. There's even a song "Born to be Bone" where the guitarist spends most of the stage having to defend without his guitar against a team of three percussionists, lots of fun!
