Every time I hear Close in the Distance, it all comes back. Not just the events from Endwalker, but my entire experience from FFXIV. The friends I've made while playing, and the friends that have passed. The depth and breadth of my adventures, and how far I've come as a person in these last 10 years. It's an immediate emotional response, and a gentle reminder that I still have so much farther to go. Beautiful song

I can totally relate. Having /finally cleared/ that part of Endwalker only a few weeks ago, every time I hear this song now Feelsbringer comes all rushing back. Jerod, you done an outstanding performance with this one. This song is so beautiful and amazing. Well done.

Feelswalker concluded with an absolutely heartrending final zone, dungeon, trial & overall story, but amazing BGM!

"tales of loss, and fire and faith" that one line sends so many shivers down my spine and always gives me goosebumps. u can tell how much passion was put into it and the line itself is perfect for simplifying exactly what the entire expansion is about. how endwalker didnt receive even a NOMINATION for music of the year is byeond me and a crime.

The fact that it's the first line you hear when booting up Endwalker can't be anything but intentional. For people who have yet to experience it, it's mysterious and intriguing. For those who know, it's a reminder.
I'm not sure if you'll read this. I still watch your videos after all this time. I used to frequent your stream often, you even gave me a shoutout for my mom one time when I was going threw a tough time taking care of her. Back on Valentines day this year, the inevitable happened and she's not hurting anymore. I've been busy with a lot of things myself, including a move across the country to be closer to family. I'm a Vtuber now, and that's a lot of fun! Final Fantasy 14 has helped me with a lot of tough times in the past few years, from finding great friends to just having another world to escape to. And I'm so glad to see you enjoying the tales that I also enjoy immensely. Tales of Loss, and Fire, and Flame. Keep on keepin' on Jerod, and I'll keep watching and cheering.
Ffxiv is still one of the best ff stories I have ever had the pleasure to play through. Love this game.

If we count ARR to Endwalker as one story then hell yes, out of the FF games it's the best by a mile.

Midgardsomar, a powerful immortal dragon, so powerful that he flew through the empty void to another planet to make a new home, abandoning his own dying one. Looked at us as called us powerful because he knew we would be able to save is all.

This song just, has A way of making you think back and recall your entire journey up until this point, every memory good or bad, every experience that helped you grow as a person & a Player, every person you met along the way and potentially made friends with. and I just love that this one song captures everything and more for this story
Before "Close In The Distance" fully developed at the end of your journey there, just the starting notes were enough to make me cry. I downright sobbed when I had to kill the malformed dragonling, and the cold and hollow apathy its parent had.
That delayed drop during the first "Tales of loss...." at 2:37 is what I live for.
I discovered the official orchestral version earlier this week, from the FFXIV Orchestral Rearrangement Album Vol 3. Also a great version.

I don't think I've heard of anyone who hasn't cried at this part of Endwalker. It even got to ME, and I rarely cry.
FFXIV is truly a phenomenal game with fantastic storytelling.

The zone hurt for sure… I was able to keep it together until the lyrics kicked in. That was the moment I broke and I broke hard.

I didn't cry. I felt like shit, I felt downtrodden, but I did not cry. Mainly, because when I came to the walk and I heard everyone talking, feeling like gandalf. "I have no memory of this place.' it does not hit the same way you don't remember who's talkin. Now, this game did make me bawl like a fucking child.

this song hit me hard not just from my experiences in XIV to lead to where we were in endwalker, but the journey I took personally to get there along the way. The choices i've made in life and the hardships that followed. Endwalker really hit me while I was at my lowest and helped me walk on and never look back.
Even the primals version makes all the moments come back to you god damn

The comment section for just about every video about FFXIV's music, no matter what channel, are full of people sharing how much the game as affected them.
That says something important.
I havent been able to play since 6.1 because of moving and money issues but ill always remember my time gathering and listening to this song while waiting for Chi.

I'm so glad I gave FFXIV a chance. This became one of my favorite games of all time.
I haven't reached Endwalker yet so I can't watch this, but I have to at the very least leave a like here for now, because I allready know that this will be great and I'm looking forward to the day where I'll be able to come back to this and listen to it without spoilers.

The Primals rendition totally makes me think of Blurry by Puddle of Mudd. It's definitely in the weightiness of the drums and the really melancholic guitar chords that rock through the intro and chorus 💙 When I hear this rendition I don't cry it actually gives me focus!🤘🏼🤘🏼

i've been playing this game since day 1; i was one of the few in that crowd that watched the giant angry red moon explode. i was there on every launch. I met some friends i'm still with to this day, and friends i have lost along the way as well. there were many ups and even more downs; but at the litteral end of the world, at the edge of the universe... everything just culminates to a final moment; it was like... everything i experienced, all the hardships both in game and irl just culminated into this final "zone." I sat there at the end of the world, staring at the thing that i had become: in bittered and depressed with thoughts that nothing mattered, and this "game" forced my hand to fight what was essentially my shadow, myself. I came out of it all... changed almost? like it sounds wierd to say this: but i legitimately felt better after confronting the end. idk, this might all just be sappy af, but these were my feelings as i went through this whole thing. it felt like an end to my more depressed side and a new beginning
As a long time FF fan, I was always jealous of people who managed to play from 1.0. I already saw the ad for XIV even before it was released and I badly wanted to play it. But buying the game plus the subscription was impossible for me cos I am only a student at the time. I also saw how it relaunched as A Realm Reborn but still not yet in the position financially to commit to it. When I graduated, I became more busy with life that I completely forgot about the game. Only when the pandemic hit that I once again came across an advertisement on the internet about the free trial and since I was stuck at home (WFH at this point) I had finally managed to try the game and became a Warrior of Light since then. Still, I regret the fact that I wasn't able to play 1.0
Edit: I know people say XIV 1.0 was really terrible but I am the type of player that does not curse a game even if it is lacking in any aspect. I always somehow find something enjoyable to them. Like I played the XIII trilogy and XV, and a lot of people hated it to the core but to me they had their own charms and I had fun playing them just like the classics.
@@midlanderhyur6035 the game in 1.0 was definitly really bad, but the start of a great community was there, from the great gubal wall and the war on the devs who kept spawning monsters, to the final parties people had before everything went down. it was good times

I remember when this was playing before I had to do a duty, and instead of queueing, I just sat there listening to this because it's so good, then I decided to queue and I had to wait 15 minutes to get a pop but I didn't care since the song slaps.

Power leveled a raiding alt last weekend in the span of a couple days. By the end, I just wanted it over and done with asap. Still got a little weepy at the slow ascent up the weird glowy bridge with all the voices of the people you've met along the way, though.
It's funny, because when I heard this track in the EW trailer, I was pretty indifferent to it. It's kind of jarring to think of how much it's grown on me now. There's just something about it.

its so weird. While i was playing it didn't really hit me at all. I was like "its a banger" but nothing really emotional. Listening to it alone with the context just a memory...now i cry. Well not cry, but that proto chest wrench you get before actually crying. like...dry sobbing or something

I just finished the leveling portion of endwalker less than a week ago this hits different tear to my eyes, I love it
This song causes me such an immediate, uncontrollable rush of emotions. I don't think there will ever be a time where I won't cry hearing this. I had to turn off BGM in the game whenever I go into the final area it got so bad. 🥲
