Hi Todd, I'm not sure how I missed this one. Great lesson, my home course has some brutal rough near the greens and this lesson will surely help me. Take care my brother from Kapolei Hawaii, Pat
This is excellent instruction. Thank you for posting. I'm new to your content, and you may have addressed this before, but could you do a video reviewing the pros and cons of different wedge grinds and bounces? I struggle with full and 3/4 wedge shots inside 120 yards, and while it's probably mostly user-error, I wonder whether my equipment contributes to my short-game headaches. Thanks!
Good reminders for when they lift the ban in my city and reopen golf ⛳️ courses in my area. Have been utilizing your “catchers mitt” analogy from previous post to keep club from going back inside. Works like a charm! Thanks for posting. Always great usable easy to understand content.
Joe thanks for posting. Yes the catchers mitt is one of our all time favorites and works really well for most all our players. Good news is, courses are starting to open up and we have more great content coming...tell a friend and stay tuned!
great video your instructions are spot on question about arms i was always told to keep them tight to the body and aim club face right of target and choke down a little what are your thoughts on this thanks
Anytime you are hitting shots that requires touch and feel you want your arms and hands to be soft...arms extended is ok, but straight I would say no. Hope that helps 👊
I watch this video over and over as my chipping is either fantastic or flop. Season is over here in Norway and we have moved inside to some amazing simulators. But now there are other challenges - convincing the machine to what you think is a great shot. My chips are falling short - along with my drives, but that is another story. Any tips on how to chip to a simulator. Or maybe even something to get that ball speed up to a decent level? Understand if you think this question is beside the point.
Great to hear from you! The off season is a good time to work on clubhead speed. We recently posted a few videos on how to create more speed. Check those out. Also, next week we are launching our first interactive and live coaching sessions. This is a great opportunity to ask questions live as I walk you through the process. If interested, go to www.USGolfTV.com and join the email list. 👊
After struggling with my chipping for years, I've tried this technique and it has been working great for me. Not quite there for my distances, but for the most part, it's straight and no skulling. Do you have any videos or suggestions on how to chip out of deep grass or a hole? I can't seem to get this right yet . . . thanks
Rod, you are too kind! Appreciate you watching and taking time to comment...our team does its best to provide good solid information for our fellow golfers...more to come!
Not a real method for distance control as each lie, green and conditions are different for each shot. It comes down to touch and feel. I do cover this in great detail in my book, The Bad Lie if you enjoy learning www.badliegolfbook.com/
Love the golf tips Todd. One frustrating issue I have just now where the winter conditions are creating more wet and heavy fairways. I seem to chunking the ball more often and coming up short of the green. Any suggestions in dealing with that?
James, great question, two suggestions, 1. Open the face slightly at address 2. Keep the ball in between the heals of the feet. Be sure to let us know how it goes 👊
As someone who's typically flippy with my chips, would the dominant (right hand for me) hand drill simply encourage more of that? My instructor and I have been working on the opposite (left-handed chipping drills). Would love to hear your thoughts...
Paul Davis great question! What you have mentioned is something we see often. I still like hitting chip shots with the dominant hand only as it will help you understand how to use the bounce of the club is which is key. Hope that helps!
Todd can you help me (us) who move the weight off the front foot when you swing. Like a pendulum weight is forward at start but moves to the rear foot as the club moves forward towards the ball. This tend leads to a fat shot.
Linda Jerry Clair great question! What you have described is one of the most common mistakes in chipping for the average golfer. The best way to practice this is to hit some chip shots while balancing on your lead leg only. This will be tough at first but with time you will see some improvement. Be sure to let us know how it goes. 👊
What am I doing wrong on a chip at impact if the ball shoots out 90 degrees? Assume a shank and hitting the hosel, but don't realize what I'm doing wrong. Thanks.
Very helpful! I noticed you didn't mention cocking the wrists or not,or to what extent? Personally I've more success using less wrist action. Thoughts? Also wondering if your wife knows about you dancing without her at a club?? 😎
You really must qualify the ground conditions before you make sweeping generalizations about club shaft lean at address. What applies to tall grass does not to first cut grass.
It's amazing when ALL of you teachers give your advice and chipping techniques you always do it from a perfect lie or from a range matt, show me what you can do from a hardpan or from an awful lie then maybe I'll try it.

We found it now 👊, all good my friend
Excellent … these video have helped me improve 100%! Tnx - Have you got a video with drills about ‘landing’ the chip please?
Here is a good place to start and continue the learning as it relates to chipping th-cam.com/video/cPKegp7JeYk/w-d-xo.html
Excellent instruction...keeping the lead arm straight will be key to making good contact. Love the video👍🏾
Todd, thank you. Your instruction is spot on and has helped me tremendously. Excellent!
Brian Cooke thanks Brian! Made our day...stay tuned, more great content to come.

Hey! I love the expression 'dance with the club'. Thanks.
Win Zaw Thanks! Tempo and rhythm are important concepts when in come to all shots in golf, especially chipping. 👊
@@USGOLFTVshowyes, most people cannot differentiate between tempo and rhythm.
Todd, thanks. Enjoy your instructions!

Helped so much Todd
Awesome! What other topics would you like to see us cover?
Thank you Todd. You have helped my game.

How do you recommend controling the distance when chipping? I might bring the club back 12inches to hit x distance is this the best method?

Hey Todd, thanks for continuing to post these great tips. Much appreciated.
Question: what microphone do you use to record your videos? Thanks
We use a Sennheiser wireless mic, works great...thanks for watching!
Thank you for the tips, always able to glean and find useful tips from your channel.

@@USGOLFTVshow excellent thank you. Must be the latter. Hands are not too far forward at address. Will practice this.
I practiced what Todd teaches in this video and my chipping greatly improved.
Jim, great to hear! Chipping is one of our favorite topics to cover. A real opportunity to save strokes. 👊
Same question as below regarding how much wrist action to employ on short chips. Otherwise very good tips.
We are not a big fan of hinging the wrists when chipping, yes there is certainly some wrist action, however is very passive...great question.
Very helpful! I noticed you didn't mention cocking the wrists or not,or to what extent?

LOL, great post...my dancing skills are very limited...happy Friday!

Harold Pohoresky fair point. The ground conditions do have a big impact on how the shot is played.

Give him a break, he saved you a 100 bucks or more
