To a Canadian that knows a fair bit of my history, this is nothing new, Canadians have always been on of the best. We only have 35 million people yet we hold the 15th strongest army. Our history at war and especially our soldiers that fought, "lest we forget". Some country's military's have a approach to war and soldiering that make the best soldiers. I will name some that I respect the most,just my opinion.Canada, Germany, Russia, Finland ,Norway, Japan. This has nothing to do with military strength, just all country's have different ways of soldiering and ways of approaching conflict.

Actually, our LAV's are superb dealing with IED's. The armour, while weaker than a tank, is still considerable and its slope adds a great deal to its effectiveness.
Unfortunately the thing about IED's is that they can be as big as a bomber wants and have been made large enough to take out any vehicle, tank or no tank.
All in all, I'd much rather be in a LAV than in any of our earlier APCs and I don't personally envy the tank boys one little bit.

You ever been in our LAV3's?
I am a V-tech the last 12 years. Worked on LAV3, probably touched the ones featured in this video.
The armor on those LAV's is pretty thin. They ended up up-armoring LAV's with bolt on armor and RPG cages.
The seats for the infantry used to be a simple benches but due to IED's they replaced them all the these high tech seats bolted to the ceiling of the LAV instead of the floor.
I'd say its a solid APC fighting vehicle, but was not meant to deal with IED's.
The 25mm bushmaster is the real prize though. That is one scary ass weapon system. 200 rounds per minute, accurate to 2 km. Just a belt fed monster.

They are handcuffed by politics. They have Rules of Engagement that prevents them from doing what would be necessary to actually win and get it over with. Think about it. WWII the soldiers were sent in with orders to do whatever it takes at all costs. Wars aren't fought like that any more. We're too concerned about how we look in the eyes of other countries instead of tell them to help us out or mind their own damned business.
