    As a British citizen it should be easier for you to join the CF then say someone from like Uzbekiztan, but you still need teh proper paperwork. The best way to find out all the information is to go talk to a Recruiter. They will give you the real no bull shit response, as they are paid weither they recruit you or not.

    I think that women generally did not start wars because they are less likely to be in a position of power to, but I can think of a few. Margaret thatcher, boudicia, queen anne, queen victoria, cleopatra, helen of troy, matilda, queen elizabeth 1st and 2nd. Im sure there are many more but these were the only female leaders I could think of, and all of them started wars.

    I get your point, trust me I do. The more theocracies fall flat on their ass, the happier I'd be. The current Afghan government is filled with corruption and is hardly democratic etc, but I get it's better than a theocracy, even when we are there to control opium and not for freedom.
    But what are you going to do? Occupy the country indefinitely?

    There are several different meanings of the word "intense". I don't think you have it in the right context. What he means is that they are putting as much importance on the civilian aid as the military compaign. "intense" referring to the intesity of importance, as in they are putting as much effort into it as the comparison.

    I cannot give enough thanks to those who put their lives on the line to save it.
    Based on what i've recently seen, heard, and read (including fiction) about afghanistan, I am starting to see bountiful promise for the country in the distant future.

    THE "WAR ON TERROR" is AN EXCUSE TO ADVANCE US ENERGY INTERESTS
    In 1998 US Vice-President Dick Cheney said in a speech to oil industrialists
    "I cannot think of a time when we have had a region emerge as
    suddenly to become as strategically significant as the Caspian"
    Within four years the US military had overthrown the government of Afghanistan, and the construction of the Caspian Sea oil pipeline by US oil corporations had begun

Unfortunatly they also in 98 murrdered 5000 hazras in mazar just for being hazras. 40% of Afganistians population are pashtuns that still leaves 60% of the country that are not and they deserve to live without being enslaved or murrdered by the taliban for there difernt views on Islam

    @Tervaification I think you'll find if you speak to any soldier who has served in Afghanistan (myself included) we would disagree with you wholeheartedly. Initially with the insertion in Afghanistan it was for the wrong reasons, however all of this has changed. Granted, I will admit the tactics used on older tours of Afghanistan weren't the best. The tactics that have been adopted and used in the past years prevent such collateral damage. Americans and the British are not terrorists.

    @techygrrlkush 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @FieldMarshalB Yeah! I totally forgot about that episode in WWI. We did give them some stuff in WWII though...couldnt they forgive and forget. :) If you think about it two of the biggest and enduring post WWII peace issues are Israel and India Pakistan by way of Kashmir. That has contributed to Afganistan! Even when people try and negotiate a peaceful middle comprimise resolution there can still be issues that go on for decades.

  • @techygrrlkush
    @techygrrlkush 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @DjPyro2010 I think the western world would totally would condemn peaceful protest being violently repressed. Obviously anyone anti Israel would be negative to that. The whole idea of protest is pretty much ingrained in democratic/republic thought. And if a democracy violently reacted to a peaceful demand that would be an outrage. It's easy to react to rockets being shot at you, or car bombs etc. Force for force. But a sustained peaceful protest?

  • @FieldMarshalB
    @FieldMarshalB 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @techygrrlkush I think if most americans knew half of the things the US has done in the third world, we would be shocked. I agree with you about soviet expansion. It was an evangelical philosophy, and totally at odds with US ideals. However, we do forget allied interference during the Russian civil war. I think that the soviets(whom I personally despise) were rightly outraged at this, and few Americans even realize that during WWI, we deployed troops to fight the Bolsheviks, on Russian soil

  • @techygrrlkush
    @techygrrlkush 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @DjPyro2010 I actually have a plan. Its pretty naive, The Palestinians have tried violence and that hasnt worked. First of all the 2 palestinians factions would have to stop violence and come together. Second they have to have huge PEACEful protests. They have to dance, sing songs, have chants. When the cops gas and rubber bullet them, they have to throw, not rocks or firebombs, but flowers. Next day same thing. And again and agin. They have to endure. It could work :) gwen

  • @techygrrlkush
    @techygrrlkush 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @FieldMarshalB True. Israel has done some dodgy things. And the US has done dodgy things. Democracies are totally capable of warring against each other. But Israel did not gob up half of Europe at the end of WWII. I think thats where the suspician came from. And I tihnk the west thought of the east as a big alliance. We fought "patriotic Chinese volunteers" (is not China)ina big war in Korea, Vietnam, Cuba fell, other insurgencies, etc etc, so there was some grounds for concern.

  • @FieldMarshalB
    @FieldMarshalB 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @techygrrlkush That may be, but don't make the mistake of assuming "democratic" has anything to do with altruism or human rights. The founders were suspicious of democracies, which is why the US is not one. I always found irony at the hatred and suspicion levied at the USSR, considering they never attacked the US, yet democratic Israel, loved by media and government, has committed more acts of terrorism against the west (US & UK), and killed more westerners than most authoritarian countries.

  • @techygrrlkush
    @techygrrlkush 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @DjPyro2010 Thats too simple.The big differnce between Israel and everywhere else in the Middle East is that Israel, despite any faults you may bring up, are a democracy. The jihadis will not stop hating us any tme soon. . Want to get a good look into the Taliban and like minded forces check out pbs frontline's 2.23.2010 program Behind Taliban Lines. @imahmud i feel like we might be a little confused the idea behind Afghanistan is to help the civilians get a education and not be oppressed by the Taliban. and yes you are right innocent people are dying and the troops try and educate the civilians and try to keep them safe but no matter what there is going to be casualties thats unavoidable but in the end if we succeed the end result will be a safer Afghanistan and thats worth it

    @royalsteven Yes, you are right that it is a 3rd world country, and thats just how it is. Its a very poverty stricken nation, but thats just their living standards. Everywhere is different, take us ( Canada ) for example, we are used to running tap water, as to they would be used to a well. Remember, the U.S are not fighting against the Afghan people, but a group WITHIN the afghan people. But when you narrow it down, the U.S are doing great things for the people. Fresh drinking water, food, etc

    @royalsteven I dont fully disagree with you, war is horrid, but its war. But you really need to look at this war with a logical sense. The U.S invaded Afghanistan for a number of reasons... mainly 9/11, to wage war with the taliban. The taliban (before the U.S invasion) were absolutely destroying the country. Massacres, no womens rights, bombings. They didn't care about the nation, and the civilians were paying the price. Now that the U.S and allied nations are in there, things HAVE gotten beter

    @nbm34 Bin laden confessed to being the mastermind behind 9/11, there is a video on you tube of it. And I never said the Taliban planned 9/11, they sheltered Al Qaeda after they were designated a terrorist organization. And Al Qaeda was a small army that had the bulk of their men in afghanistan. If they had their way they would have launched many more attacks and with greater casulites than 9/11. The taliban were not involved directly, but they were an accomplice to the attack.

    OMG do you ever shut up about the " Brain washed by the Corporate media" crap. I happen to have my own views on various issues. I support universal health care and education, as well as the mission in Afghanistan. That is what you call an Independent. I did not support the invasion of Iraq, but I do not want a reckless pull out either. In short, my ideal foreign policy is fair but strong diplomacy and apply force were nesesary when force is needed. Basically a mix of Reagen/Clinton diplomacy.

    Its not even about muslims vs rest of the world when it comes to afghanistan.
    Afghansistan is steeped in pre medival culture and sensibilitites so of course it is fucked and so of course even the basic tenets of peace and stability even as rhetorics are very different for afghans from the rest of the world. American strategy over the years have been wrong in dealing with a country which even most muslims dont understand....

    well a lot of people in Europe do disrespect the US. Why? well because the US think they can send in their forces where-ever they want, whenever they want. But they can't because of international law. If they said: Sadam is an ass and hes killing people, it would be a very good reason. WMD's was a bad excuse. I'm all for the war in Afghanistan though. But the US needs to watch it mouth and acts. They don't rule the world. Although its just as bad as what Europe does: nothing

    And I've done plenty of research. FACT: Drilling in the ANWR (even if all the oil is used for domestic consumption) will only yield about a 5% offset against the daily import of oil to the US anyway and at best would only result in a price reduction of 6c per gallon at the pump. You're entitled to your own opinions, otacon, but you're NOT entitled to your own facts.

    The oil the US gets from Iraq is miniscule, I agree, because the plan that Cheney had all along with his energy task force has gone completely tits-up. Foreign oil companies have checkmated the likes of Exxon and Chevron with regards to the contracts. There are however multiple reasons why the US attacked and is occupying Iraq (none of course to do with freedom or WMD or fighting terrorism)

  • @jackiebaron

    The US is not in Afghanistan to protect the world from terrorism. Don't be so naive. The US is in Afghanistan to plant a ring of military bases around China and to secure an oil and gas pipeline from the Caspian Basin to the Indian Ocean without the need to have it cross Iranian or Russian soil. The same is true of the occupation of Iraq. If these facts hurt your feelings and make you feel less self-righteous then that's your problem.

    It's hysterical to watch the US sink deeper and deeper into the mud in Afghnistan and all the while India and China are muscling in to develop partnerships with the region. India is pouring money, arms and agents into Afghanistan and training government forces. China, more discreetly, is moving in to exploit Afghanistan's recently discovered mineral wealth that, says Karzai, is worth $1 trillion, according to a U.S. government geological survey.

    I did send you the link. I can see it right there on the comments section of your profile.
    And what propaganda am I spreading? Tell me? I just gave you some basic facts and backed them up with a authenticated newspaper article in a highly respected publication. You don't like the facts I presented because they make you feel uncomfortable and so you resort to sneering and accusing me of propaganda. A highly disingenuous tactic.

    ...cont, They were left with a country who economy, infrastructure and fragile eco-environment had be decimated. The only plant that would grow was opium poppies so that's where the majority of people earned a living. You say that they harbored Al-Queda, well in case you don't remember, the Pashtun tribesmen and the Taliban hate Al-Queda who are mostly Arab foreigners.

    @daCuzzyy Unfortunately the US government didn't go after Bin Laden with the vigor they should of. In fact, it seems both Clinton and Bush let Bin Laden get away. At the very least, their actions gave Bin Laden extra room to escape. Check out the battle at Tora Bora depicted by Dalton Fury. You will be stunned by some of his requests that were refused by higher headquarters. The war should of been over in that battle about 8-9 years ago. I don't understand the government.

    US government Energy Information fact sheet on Afghanistan dated December 2000 says that.."Afghanistan's significance from an energy standpoint stems from its geographic position as a potential transit route for oil and natural gas exports from Central Asia to the Arabian Sea. This potential includes proposed multi-billion dollar oil and gas export pipelines through Afghanistan, although these plans have now been thrown into serious question........"

    i am totally against war but really we are all there now and there is NO going back, if we all leave, they win. What if they were to get Nuclear weapons you think MAD( Mutually assured destruction ) would stop them from launching? i think not, they would do another 9/11 attack asap. More would die for no reason i think war is terrible and awful but i think the soldiers are doing a great job and i support them. Its a very much necessary evil. You have to think of the consequences if they leave...

    I find two things you said interesting. You said "it doesn't matter how many facts you use, my ideas won't change" and that I should try to read between the lines. i think this highlights a key problem it appears you are beyond reasonable logical thought. You maintain a view which is only conceived because of a "reading between the lines" attitude to facts and evidence. This farce causes you to disregard anything logical or factual that doesn't support you own ill-conceived view.

    What the hell did they gain by investing in a war? Wars are expensive, along with grounding an entire countries passenger and freight air fleet and losing a major trading centre. I don't know the cost of the Afghanistan war, but I can tell you that the Iraqi war has cost the US economy 3.2 trillion dollars [according to a Harvard study either in 2003 or 2004]. Explain to me how they would exactly get that money back. Also a similar plan with one plane was thought up to invade Cuba.

  • @artinyyk
    @artinyyk 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have seen that film and while it does bring up good points, none of them have reasonable or conclusive evidence backing them up. Furthermore I'm disappointed that your argument against me is basically calling me stupid and mindless without backing up any of your ludicrous claims. As for profiting, I have no idea where you got that conclusion from. Who exactly is profiting from this conflict?

  • @artinyyk
    @artinyyk 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    As for logic part which seems more reasonable? That a government would destroy a major trading centre in one of their own cities, four passenger jets along with attacking one of their major military facilities and in the process killing thousands of their own people as a false flag attack to justify invading one or more foreign countries for the personal gain of of a few people OR that a country long influenced by America's foreign policies for the worse would attempt a revenge attack?
