Yes, NZ SAS were established in 1955 during the Malayan emergency. The British government asked New Zealand to establish an SAS squadron to work along side the British SAS Regiment in Malaya. Apart from the officers and NCOs, the first troops that made up the New Zealands SAS squadron were drawn from civilian street. A call went out and over 1000 men volunteered, this was whittled down to a squadron size unit. It wasn't a fluke that the British had asked New Zealand for this unit as when the British first created the SAS in the deserts of North Africa during WWII, another similar type of unit was running around the desert causing havoc amongst the Germans and Italians with deep raids into their territories. This was the Long Range Desert Group or the LRDG. The first troops were drawn from the New Zealand Division and later the British army. In fact, the SAS went along with the LRDG on raids to learn their tactics and techniques so, the New Zealand army has had brother relationship with the British SAS since its inception
John mcaleese from the British sas was the inspiration for price. Iraianian embassy siege. He had a son who served as well I believe. Kia if I remember correctly

UK: SBS SAS
both allies 💯💯
The New Zealand SAS doesn’t need guns, they just lull their enemies into a compliant state with their awesome accents
The SAS tradition carries on, hats off Kiwis.
Only problem with the title is that it says SAS, not NZSAS. The SAS is Britain’s special forces.
Correct. The SAS is British only. The NZSAS is totally different, both in personnel and method of operation.
Technically British SAS is 22SAS. So NZSAS and SASR can all be called the SAS.
@@peace-now They're are not different, UK/NZ/AUS operate together train together go mission together, they're part of the royal alliance which is the commonwealth, SAS from the UK can go on mission together with some of AUS SASR or NZ SAS like I said they train together meaning they're are on the same level, SAS is SAS!
@@toahaamoa6856 Not true. The SAS is rated as the top Special Forces unit in the world. NZSAS is not mentioned in the top 100. Only English men and women are selected for the SAS. I have seen Ant Middleton's selection process on TV.
@@peace-nowSo are you saying that NZSAS and AUS SASR are not as good as the UKSAS? mate do you understand that SAS is SAS, AUS and NZ are in the Same level as the UK because they operate together, look through the history of ANZAC.
Peace!
Thank you for this video.
Congratulations for this brave fighters.
Bucuresti, RO, EU
Salute to all the special forces
Good luck from 🇵🇱 👍 great respect 🕊️🤝
Respect from USA 🇺🇸
This is the only video ive seen where a group of soldiers all use the most effective techniques and gear. I always see some weird guy using a magwell grip on his rifle or a one point sling or some weird crap
Keeping it simple maybe mate.
Any SAS is worth their weight I gold just as the north Vietnamese that feared them more than the Americans they called them the chicken killers as they could get past their chickens execute commanders an quietly get back out proud assusie gods speed boys
I think you mean chicken stranglers mate. Also, both the Australian and New Zealand SAS were called Ma Rung by the NVA and VC, which means phantoms of the jungle in Vietnamese.
@My uncles Hip socket obvious bait aside, any argument to back that up?
The NZ troops and generally the SAS were called the Grey Ghosts by the Vietcong for they could appear and disappear in jungle fight as effectively or more so than the Vietcong could.
Respect from Italy
There is a documentary here on youtube on selection training for NZSAS. Unbelievably crazy intense training #respect bad ass mofos
if they only had enough training so the did commit war crimes. #OperationBurnham And the coverup after getting caught puts all the SAS and NZDF in the war criminal camp for the support and killing of unarmed civilians in a petty revenge attack.
@@BrettCooper4702 let me guess, you were there?
@@BrettCooper4702 Mate welcome to the world of SOF isn't always a badass and prestigious job
@@regregan5755 😂😂😂 hard ay
On your feet soldier,WE-ARE-LEAVING!
British SAS is the best 🏴🏴🏴
@Dave Klonpenberg na grown man who was in the British Army
What can I say, still the best!!!!
SAS, NSAS, & SASR. Same name, same motto, same heritage, and in most cases same blood. I fear the growth of political correctness is driving our societies apart and we are neglecting our civilisation in the name of stupidity such as gender quotas in the military and equal outcome in civilian life. I hope you lads down their don't forget what the UK has long forgotten.
Much respect man, with our P.M we might be up shit creek too man, waaay to p.c, but as of yet still no females in SF, which will stay that way till they can meet the standard which many men fail.
Respect from Fiji ... NZSAS really impressive bro
Respect from india
Respect 🙏 🇳🇿
Inside the SAS | Creating the Elite Soldier .....Every Walter Mittey's wet dream book come true.
Sixteen, going to a Military high school. Planning to join the army in two years time, and hopefully pass NZSAS selection. With some of my school mates who also want to get in.
UK, Aussie and EnZed SAS are at the top of the pack in regards to special forces. There are other notable mentions but SAS really do set a bench mark.
American Delta Force and Seal Team 6 are equally as good and have the added advantage of having the latests kit and other high tech goodies at their disposal not too mention the support of the Night Stalkers. Best helo pilots in the world.
@@lenn55 if you see these units they wear the same kit and equipment
“im quite proud to be here” perfect soldier
I like their rifles set ups!! Aimpoint t1's /trijicon acog's
Greets from Spain kiwis!!!
Yes it is a great rifle, the MARS-L LMT, also standard rifle for the NZDF, awsome bit of kit
Served in Oman............Salalah..............remember my Bothers who were in BATT................just a humble serviceman................but remember with respect the sacrifice that you made ...........The battle of Mirbat.............SAS .......Hereford ...........you comrades are still the best of the best........
Who dares win
Muhammed Saif Khan Who Dares Wins*
@@osgkillerzzz3879 is that how they say the motto in great britain or austrailia or in nz
@@Muhammedthemaverick Other special forces have also adopted that motto.
@@ZolaMagic25 like?
UK, Australia, NZ, Hong Kong, Tunisia, France, Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), Greece, Cyprus, Israel, Latvia and Belgium.
Some of the most highly trained killers in the world there is a reason why nz sas missions are very rarely disclosed
best motto in the world : "WHO DARES WIN"
Missed the 'S' who dares winS ....
There is a reason why the SAS stands for Super Army Soldiers. Best in the world.
The Gurkhas are just as fearsome if not more, those guys are ready to give their life at any instance. So many factual stories about one Gurkha taking on a multitide of enemies and coming out on top.
Thank you for kind words but the reason for our bravery is not top notch weapons or ultra cool trainings. We believe in whats right and our constitution of India. For us our khukri is all we need to defend our nation mother india and our citizens.
#Jaimahakali ayo gorkhali
God bless America, its unreal how much influence we have to other Military forces around the world. Everyone wants to look like us.
Betcha the real deal sas dudes reading sone of these comments are having a chuckle.
Soldiers are created, warriors are born...
