I wonder what they could do with a film like Baraka when it comes to Atmos. Visually in 4k would be stunning. Shot in 70mm. Restored and scanned in 8k. With all the outdoors shots in the city and jungle, it could sound amazing to go with the visuals.

You're so right about Godzilla King of the Monsters being reference level....the sound effects with the deep bass in that movie cannot be equaled in my opinion. I always use that movie to give my subwoofer a workout However, by the time you read this comment, we have just found a new king for Atmos, mind blowing bass and sound effects, and it is THE FLASH ( 2023)....Nothing can prepare you for the orgasmic assault on your ears then that movie, easily beating Godzilla....I literally had my tongue out in amazement at what I was hearing in the Xtreme screen. The Flash will be the number 1 reference movie for sound for years to come I think
I haven't had my Atmos kit for very long so I haven't been able to go over and re watch all my films yet, but the stand out for me so far has been Assassins Creed. I'd seen it already with just my TV speakers, and yeah, it's an entertaining film but then I do love the games. The Atmos track however really takes it up to another level, it was just Wow!

@@jimcameron1234 TBH, all 3 are great, but that first few minutes of Reloaded is one of the highlights of the trilogy's Atmos and it is right at the start which makes it really easy to demo.
Not all of these Atmos tracks are exclusive to the 4K. Some titles also have the Atmos track on the Bluray release as well (eg. Kong Skull Island, Hacksaw Ridge, Deepwater Horizon, Godzilla KOTM).
Can I point out that no Atmos enabled bluray ive used has been anywhere near the quality of the UHD discs I've used. Can't explain it but tried my blurays with Atmos and came away disappointed.
@@randysalsman6992 I get a lot more than that on my system. Especially the the opening scene, the sound from my over heads is nuts, the sound goes over you front to back.
What are your thoughts on Atmos tracks that are inferior the the DTS-HD MA tracks? (Eg. the Atmos track for Oblivion pales in comparison in terms of the LFE on the Bluray DTS-HD track). Similarly, the DTS:X track on Hellboy 2 4K is neutered in comparison to the DTS-HD track on the Bluray.
Idk if you've done this one yet..but have you done a best dtsx 4k or blu rays? I'm saving up for a Dolby almost surround sound and been using my Samsung HW650 and it only offers DTS X
For me, the visual quality is what is the most important to me, however having quality audio is still very important as well! If a movie has amazing visual quality but the audio is in really bad quality, then that makes it difficult to enjoy the nice visuals and can be distracting.
Good list.... Two of my go to titles to make people say Wow! Ready Player One, opening race scene where Kong is chasing the car. Overlord, being inside a metal war plane being shot down and spinning falling to the ground... also undeniable.
I bet U571 and Top Gun would both sound great in Atmos. I would love to hear the depth charges exploding over head and fighter jets going all around me.
I just ordered Kong Skull Island on 4K. You are the 2nd person to recommend this movie based on sound. My system is 7.4.1, I do want to buy another SUB but I have to wait at least 1 more year.
Not everyone can afford an atmos set up plus it's a lot of work with all the cables etc. It can work out really expensive. But I do have a sony htzf9 dolby atmos/ stax sound bar with surrounds and sub woofer. It's a really good comprise.
You should do monthly new 4K releases videos what I mean is like what coming to home video on 4K for the month like for November for example. Just a suggestion for you on a new video topic
Thanks mate ..Thought it was only me. I havemfound that some of the DTS HD MA mixes in particular, have terrible dialogue audio for some reason and i was always fiddling around with the centre channel more than I would like..
It should be but it isn't. They really cheaped out on the Star Wars video and audio quality for the 4K Blu-Rays. That's Disney for you... Even all the Marvel titles have very average Atmos tracks.

I've got a great 7.1 receiver, it is pre-atmos though, but I don't want to bin the whole thing just to get atmos. Is there a little passthrough box that can process atmos as 5.1.2 and then spit that out as 7.1 PCM? Be great if it could handle eArc too - converting the return channel into a normal hdmi output. Its kind of like in high end where you can usually get the pre-amp (dac, processors) separate to the actual power amplifier, but that is usually so high end that just the pre-amp costs more than I'd ever spend on a whole receiver. Really I don't even want the dac. I'd be happy with a fully digital box that acted as the hdmi 2.1 passthrough switch, earc management, and digital audio decoder, and then output the sound as PCM over HDMI (as opposed to analogue which is what the above high end separates usually do). This would be quite useful for retrofitting that FHD, bluray, hdmi 1.3 era receiver that I'm sure many people still use. Does anyone know of something similar? (analogue output would be fine too)

If are able to watch Netflix with Atmos. Another Life has a great Atmos track. While the series is not very good, every episode I've watched so far has had some great atmos effects.
I'd second that...great use of FX, like alarms and space ship announcements, in every episode, but THE best scene I've ever heard in atmos is in episode 10, where the soldier is trapped in the pod, and aliens are banging on the roof....had me looking up!
Nothing beats physical media in sound and visuals . This is why you see most home theater purist buy physical copies of movies. Streaming is efficient and great as well…but if you want the absolute best sound and picture quality, invest in physical media.

(little film icon under movie cover) Under My Collection you can view Blu-ray statistics which will break down your movies by genre, year, studio, soundmix, etc. You can search your collection based by parameters as well.

Apocalypse Now’s Atmos blew me away, even with my (for now) Auro 3D set up..
Some people say that the Auro 3D up-mixer blows away both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.

King Kong skull island is a great option because I like that it has Atmos and a dts hd 7.1 track so you can actually compare the track back to back!
aquaman sounds amazing too! one of my favourite atmos track.
The first Bladerunner is worth a shout due to the overflying police car. Its simply outstanding.
Deepwater Horizon is my go to non-war movie when I'm showing off my system.
I have around 35 Atmos titles and my go to disc is still Air Force One with Harrison Ford.

The movie "Gravity" the Diamond Luxe edition. Only available in blu-ray, but with Atmos. Movie is okay, but the Atmos sound is awesome.

What’s the difference between Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital and Dolby Audio? I have 4K movies with those labels.
Atmos will have the best sound quality if you have dedicated speakers, if they are atmos compatible, even better
