Great list mate. Some ideas: - Apocalypse Now (the entire early part of the movie when they're with Robert Duvall) - Jurassic Park (the feeding the raptors scene) - John Wicks 3 (the shotgun scene near the end) - Batman Begins (Lucius showing Bruce the Tumbler) - Wall-E (everything on the Axiom)
This is an awesome and timely video as I’m building my movie collection. Though I only have a 5.2 system these suggestions still give my speakers a workout! Thx!!!!!
Man you got me fired up now! Going through my old DVD demo folder, some classics: Reactor activation scene Total recall, Terminator 3 the crane chase scene, toy Story 2 the buzz lightyear game opening sequence, Bad Boys 2 highway chase scene, Ballistic - Ecks vs sever Train Yard might be the highest explosions per minute clip there is, Chronicles of Riddick Landing sequence, Cradle to the Grave Helicopter and tank scene is pretty bad ass and funny, Disney's Dinosaur Opening scene & Asteroid impact, I Robot Tunnel Car Wreck, Cracking ice from opening of Ice Age, Matrix Revolutions City Breech has to win something just for the sheer number of bullets fired, The Patriot Field Battle scene, and actually not as old, but the reboot of Dredd, the gun scene when they lock the building down and fire alll the mini guns. That should keep anyone busy for awhile
Toy story 2....I used it circa 2003 or so....Old Mrantz projector. As bright as a broken bulb...lol. used it in that room all the time at Tweeter. Fun demo
@@TheaterAdvice_FCAV Funny I just aw a video from a guy, 2nd hand home theater or something that bought the formerly $20,000 Marantz projector (I didn't even know they made one) for like $150 with a half used bulb. NEW it was only like 700 lumens...ouch
did listen to the whole thing :) don't have Atmos (yet) but some of my favorite demos are : Eagles Farewell I tour DTS-HD master, Star Wars The Phantom Menace - the pod race, Heat - the shooting scene in the street after the bank job, Master and Commander the first ship battle, Gladiator - the music Elysian fields , Phil Collins - Finally...The First Farewell Tour Paris 2004 - the drum duo is amazing
I almost mentioned the Pod race, it's one of the first thigns thatutilzied my DTS-EX setup back in the day, the engine rumble is a good lfe demo for sure and the audience atmosphere. M&C is also a great demo for sure
Very solid list! I only have TFA on DTS master so now I'll be buying the 4k. I like how you separated good Atmos mixes from just good mixes in general. I love that you included Book of Eli and Open Range. When Kevin Costner shoots the shotgun in the bar, HOLY COW. I think the movie you were thinking of at the end was Unbroken. Such a good into scene. One LFE scene that no one ever talks about is the MUTO scene in (2014) Godzilla at 1:16. It has really good surround effects when the MUTO goes under the bridge. I demo that scene about as loud as I can handle. Since you're a SW fan, Star Wars: attack of the clones 1:06:25. The astroid scene is one of my favorite demos ever. One demo I never see on these lists is Toy Story 2, the into. Lots of bass and they include a lot of "Skywalker Sound" sound effects randomly haha. Not the 4k Dolby atmos mix, but the DTS master on the old blu ray, Disney ruined it with the 4k. I subscribed and I hope to see more of your favs as time goes on.
Love that you love your system...these are for sure the way to test it. Get a DVD player and discs if you can...4K of course. Streaming is still fun though
Super 8: Train crash scene. Go to beginning of the chapter for subtle surrounds. The Incredible Hulk: Chase Scene Den of Thieves: first and last combat scenes Hacksaw Ridge: (Atmos) Ridge battle scene - but just before the naval canon assault
The scene in Close Encounter of the Third Kind where he stops to look at map at the railroad crossing next to the mail boxes, BASS! Shook my house lol!
Thanks for the list, man. I'm going to check all of these out. Not sure how these stack up to your list, but I really like the first Thor movie that came out in 2011. When Thor and his buddies go to the ice planet somewhere in the first 15-20 minutes of the movie, they get surrounded by lightning and it's pretty cool. That whole movie has some really nice surround effects. I also like the Ready Player One first race scene. Some really good surround effects there where King Kong is running around.
For music, the new Queen live aid release is insane, Freddie's vocal perice the whole room, really gives you that "I am there" magic, great mixing. Super mario Bro's animated movie has some of the craziest bass I've heard, most of the movie, but the rainbow road race especially is killer. I actually had to turn my subs DOWN for once. Twister in Amos is pretty crazy, any of the tornado scenes, there are liek 3 or 4 of them. I always liked the Scene from True Lies when she drops the automatic down the stairs and it starts firing randomly. Probably my favorite scene on the lesser talked about list, the entire Lobby Scene in The Matrix, from the time they enter the government building til they blow up the helicopter, some of the best localization of bullit hits, and pumping bass from the sound track. Honerable mentions, the mini gun scene from T2, the automatic shot gun scene Terry Crews uses in Expendables Spiderverse and Across the spiderverse both rocked the bass department from start to finish, but especially the second one, thats another movie I had to turn my subs down for, just ridicules low end for scenes that probably didn't really need it lol. I mean everone says Dune 1/2 is a must, but I haven't experienced it yet. On a personal leval I love the shockwave scene from Star trek VI when Praxis blows up, that never gets old. and of course, flassic, the Opening of T2, credits, war, initial time bubble, all top notch. I use the pearl Harbor attack often enough too, but Middway does sound better.
@@TheaterAdvice_FCAV As far as old ball picks, the new Power ranger movie is mixed surprizingly well, one of the better ship flyovers, never watched whoel thing but I did check out that scene. Speaking of old in store demo's, Jurasic park t-rex entrance in the rain, and Lion King, the stampede, but you know when I ran Lion King at home, it didn't hit as hard as I remebered.
Awesome list! Thank you. The setups for what to listen to make the list even better. Definitely check out the opening from Ice Age. In Dune Part Two when the emperors ship breaks the Atmosphere there is an insane sonic boom that brought my kids out of their rooms to see what I was watching.
Excellent work, great list!! The Greatest Showman is my current go to demo, as A LOT of people surprisingly haven't seen it. I will add 2 additional MUST haves "Twister" 4k for it's atmos. And an OFTEN overlooked home theater demo worthy gem "Speedracer" on blu ray. A movie I wish they would remaster in 4k HDR & ATMOS. It's a much better movie than it's ratings suggest. Both movies are great start to finish.
Love it! You and your team knocked it out of the park with my Theory Audio theatre from Texas to Des Moines…I hope you stop by and check it out if you’re in the area and will test your list. You guys are awesome!
I live in a apartment in New York. My system sounds so real., my neighbor thought someone was shooting at me in my apartment and call the cops., A female cop knocked on my door to ask me if I was all right.
I don't have Atmos yet, but I'm gonna have to recall my typical list. Off the top of my head: Sea Beast has lots of good surround and bass Fifth Element has some good bass Prince of Persia toward the end (about 1hr30min) when the sand is collapsing is lots of surround and good bass. I'll think of more soon.
Fifth element is also a Phenom Video calibration tool....the scene where she comes out to all the flying cars after she is born or whatever. Her face. best skin tone calib
Master and commander chapter 2 still best demo. Hero, Pearl Harbor, Inception, Underwater, I Robot, The Island, Oblivion, Ford vs Ferrari, and Jurassic Park. I loved your video agree with all of them.
It's such a well known everyone does it scene, but the intro to edge of tomorrow is still a will it break my subs test, especially the originally DTS mix, I think they netered it for the Atmos, least that's the consensus Um, heres a good one, Moonfall, silly movie, but pretty immersive especially when all hell is breaking loose twords the end of the de-orbit. Oh The Launch scene in Apollo 13! Watched that in an IMAX at the Kennedy space center...their subs couldn't handle it lol.
Trying to find atmos speakers on a tight budget, my basement got flooded 2 weeks after moving in and it destroyed a lot of items that were still boxed up. Long story short I have drywall, trim, flooring and doors to replace and insurance of course didn’t cover anything. It’s a good size room roughly 14x20 but really low ceilings probably around 6 and a half feet.
Sir, Great list of movies and music. Did you watch all of these vis KScape? If so, that's cheating! 😉 KScape surely has the best of everything via their environment. Better than 4k discs even. I'm envious of all of the Kscape owners, in many ways. Kscape with a proper system and proper room must be stellar! Like most families, I'm squeezing hard to get the last drop of performance out my very budget 7.2.4 system. The HT hobby is as much great fun as it is a reason to pull hair out by the handful. All the best and thanks again for your list demos.
Batman Dark Knight has several good bass scenes. Catwoman with Halle Berry, I am impressed with the deep bass throughout. At least on the DVD I have. Not sure if Blu-ray is same or not.
Great suggestions! You even listed a few I haven’t tried since building my home theater. But how in the world did you miss “Edge of Tomorrow” for BASS DEMO during the first 60 secs of the movie opening?😢😢😢 FYI, you must have the 4K blue ray. Some mixes dulled the demo. I can’t remember which one dulled it. But be warned, you will find the limits of your subs😅😅
Nolan movies are great, too bad he doesn’t do Atmos. Skyscraper was awesome in 3D. Oh and you forgot the absolute great train wreck in Super 8. Happy to say I own every movie you mentioned, my system isn’t the best but my movie collection is!
I used to think that all 4K movies had Dolby Atmos., but it don't.. There's even some Blu-rays that have Dolby Atmos. And a lot of people leave out "Back surround speakers" and just have the Side surround speakers?? Without "Back surround speakers" you miss out on the full 360 Surround sound experience. Even with Atmos speakers.. I mean without Back surround speakers how can you really feel something coming from behind you? 🎛🎶🎛😲
Master and commander, can't wait for the 4k with atmos. 😊
