Only 4 990’s and 2 880’s remain intact (though the Lisa Marie is physically whole, its airframe was chopped up and reassembled for transport, so it could never be made airworthy again). I doubt enough parts could be mustered to ever make one of these lovely old birds airworthy. The 880/990’s contemporaries are still flying in active service (DC-8 as a freighter, the 707 variants in military service), but the 880 and 990 will likely never fly again.
