    I purchased this head for its dirty side, but fell in love with its cleans. Without sounding cliche, this amp truly is as good as it gets in the $500 market, and it does indeed punch above its weight class.

    Playing American metal music, I was never a big fan of British amps as I couldn’t seem to get enough gain from them. Then I got my first Blackstar, and I started to change my opinion. Today, my Orange Super Crush 100 came, and I’m a believer.

    I bought an Orange Crush Pro 120C back end of 2019 and sold off my Mesa 15 watt amp (which over the years has cost me more money than the amp cost me in the first place) about 2 days later. I constantly hear TH-camrs saying that Solid State amps are so close to valves amps. But the truth is the Crush Pro series was just as good if not better than most valve amps. I defy anyone to sit in front of me and tell me if I am playing a valve/tube amp or a Crush Pro when they can't see the amp I am plugged into.
    I have heard and played the Super Crush and it is a great amp, but there really is not that much of a difference for me to buy the new one right now.

      I used to have Mesa Dual Rectifier + SLO100 custom copy and Mesa Mark V 25. I had to sell of my gear because I was building a house and I'm now trying to get some gear back. But I will be buying solid state power amp and using PC with some amp modeler as preamp. Infinite number of tones and great sounding as well. I don't see any point for most of the people to get into valve amps anymore. Just get a good solid state amp or amp modeler, be it hardware or PC + software and you're set.

    I've been spending time with my new Super Crush 100 and I can say it definitely has a spectacular clean channel. Chimey bell-tone notes with the guitar pickup selector switch in the middle position (both front and rear pickups combined). But I'm still trying to decide about the dirty channel. So far, my Marshall still wins in this regard but, who knows, I may find a perfect crunch setting on the Super Crush that just dazzles me. I'm getting close already. Sounds better (or bigger) through two 4 x 12 cabs, but may be too much for small gigs. The overall amp tone is very mid-range voiced, and this is actually a good thing. My Delay pedal sounds best through the effects loop rather than in front of the amp on this one (just my opinion of course) and I only wish one of the two footswitch inputs on the back would control the Effects Loop on/off instead of controlling Reverb. (The reverb does sounds great on the clean channel however.) On the dirty channel, with gain set between 7 and 8, you can still hear each note within a fairly high gain chord, so that's really cool for rhythm parts. I'm still working to get a great Lead tone though. Glad my guitar has the treble bleed wiring, because it should allow me to use the guitar's volume control backed off a bit for rhythm and then roll on more volume for leads. This means the gain on the amp can be really cranked up in order to achieve that long-sustaining and singing lead tone. Otherwise, I may end up using an overdrive or distortion pedal to get it the way I like and to be able to go from crunch to lead on the fly without fiddling with my guitar volume control so much. I believe this amp is worth the current price and I'm glad I purchased it.

    I bought one these Supercrush 100 amps, tried it through several cabinets but just didn’t like it. I liked the clean channel better than the Dirty, which kind of went against my initial reason for purchase as I wanted that famous orange dirty sound. After a week I returned it to the store I purchased from and swapped it for a Rocker 15 Terror.
    What a difference! Instantly got the Orange sound I was looking for, the ‘headroom to bedroom’ option is great for playing fairly quietly at home. I say quietly because even at 0.5 Watts it can get loud.
    I guess I’m going to admit I’m a valve/tube snob. My advice would be to spend an extra £70/$100 and get a Rocker 15 Terror.

    There's no need for solid state amps to be compared to tube amps anymore. They are their own thing now. It's not 1980 when tube amps were the shit and transistors were CRAP. I don't know if the amp industry is the only one keeping the tube production alive, but if that's the case, maybe it's time to close it and more on to more modern, cheaper and more sustainable methods? There's been a huge improvement in transistor amps and modeling amps are killing it as well.

      I love both types of amps but there is something special in a tube amp, in my opinion. I have a dual terror and on certain settings it's like I can hear the sound become alive, it's hard to describe. It's something I've never heard in a solid state.

    • @DH-og5yr
      @DH-og5yr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@BungleJoogie68 that’s also a gimmick. In movie and music applications amplification has been perfected for a long time. Linear from 20hz to 20 kHz.
      The only reason some people prefer tubs is nostalgia or they prefer low even order harmonic distortion in everything they hear. Makes sense for guitar. Does NOT make sense when amplifying the human voice or other things that do not sound better with more distortion.

    My local towns are super small and have very little gear. I was hesitant to go elsewhere for this amp, in that, I was concerned with the response and dynamics of the amp, specially with OD or boost in front. I didn't think solid state amps were very responsive in that sense, and I had the impression that a boost would merely boost volume. You gave me enough reasons to at least try, and I have to say I'm pretty sold! I think you're one of the fews (if not the only) channel that addresses this interaction between amp amp OD or boosts! Thank you!

      @@anarchywon4170 Sure thing. So you know, I play a lot of 80s shred like Ratt, Dokken, Van Halen as well as Hair and Sleeze like Poison, LA Guns and Guns n Roses. You can throw in Metallica, Slayer, Creator, Sepultura and newer stuff like Slipknot, Godsmack, Korn, etc. I play as rocking blues type stuff like ZZ Top, Georgia Satellites. Lynard Skynyrd, George Theroghgood, etc. I also cover the Cars, Journey, Boston, REO Speedwagon, etc. I'm not saying I play all these songs spectacularly. Some I'm still trying to get good and some I've been playing over the past 41 years. Add KISS to the list too! Lol! I believe this Orange Super Crush will be able to handle over 60 years worth of music and put it's own spin on the various tones. @@roosterj2599 Sounds like you have great taste in music my friend. I'm a blues/rock man myself but I grew up on Poison, billy idol, Bon Jovi, Ozzy, acdc as well pearl jam, nirvana, the wallflowers, matchbox 20 and of course Metallica. Kirk hammett was the reason I started playing lead to be begin with. As I got older I started gravitating towards playing the blues and got into Howlin' Wolf, bb king, R.L. Burnside, T-Model Ford, Robert Johnson. I've been picking that 6 string for 23 years now. Cheers!

    • @roosterj2599
      @roosterj2599 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anarchywon4170 Thank you. Looks like we have a lot in common. My main guitar influence is Mick Mars. He made me get serious about playing to where I found I could learn by ear. I listened to Shout at the Devil and played along with every song on the album until I was confident and relaxed. Of course I learned as much of Too Fast for Love and all their albums up until Dr Feelgood. Metallica came out around the same time as the Crue and I bought Kill em All because I thought the name was cool and the album cover was cool. After one listen Metallica changed the game for me and me as well, Kirk made me want to play leads and shred. I became a student of his style and took a lot from it. Kirk Hammett is my second biggest influence. In 1990 I bought Alice in Chains Facelift based on a friends recomendation. I was floored. Jerry Cantrell became another influence. In 1991 I watched the premiere of Nirvana's Smells like teen Spirit and that changed the game again. Then the flood of awesome grunge bands came out and I was hooked. Kurt Cobain became my 4th main influence. I remember everyone referring to Alice in Chains as Sludge Metal. I must concur. Just like LA Guns and GnR were considered hair metal, but they are more Sleeze than Hair. I've played through so many set ups and amps over the years. My first guitar was a black 1979 Fender Strat. I discovered the humbucker and traded it for an Arbor Super Strat with a red and black paint job, rosewood board with 22 big fat frets and a Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge with one volume control. Then I wanted a Floyd Rose and picked up an 85 Kramer Baretta which took everything I saved up for a year. Then came BC Rich, Charvel, Jackson, Epiphone, ESP of which I bought a George Lynch signature Kamikaze and a mid 90s Kirk Hammett ESP M2 Custom. Now I'm a huge Schecter player and fanatic. I got my first Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder in surf green and was blown away. Now I have a S hector Explorer style in matte red with binding, Floyd and a Sustainer pickup and a pink 3 single coil Nick Johnston Strat that beats Fender across the board. I have always played Crate amps and love the compressed, tight tone they have, but my Crate G120 2X12 combo is falling apart. I bought a Kustom 100w halfstack for about $400 new and it sounds like ass when you turn it up. The reverd, delay and chorus are weak and sound horrible. At least I got a decent upgradeable 4X12 cab out of it so I can run my Suoer Crush through it until I get a decent cab. I bought a 50w Boss Katana Mk2 and I'm very disappointed in it. It doesn't like to be turned up to gig with. It sounds horrible to be honest. Not my thing to be getting online and playing with an app. I feel the Orange Crush Pro 100 is the answer to my problems. It does everything I would ask of an amp. It has this dreamy creamy sound that I think is amazing and it's so versatile. I can drop a few Distortion pedals out of my chain. I plan on using the dirty channel for my main sound. I'm so excited.

      @@roosterj2599 I've been through my fair share of equipment over the years especially as my style has changed. I still have my first B.C. Rich warlock, another seven string warlock, I had a peavey rotor that was really cool, a harmony strat style, ltd kh-202 (kirk hammett signature) which is my go to guitar. I keep it in standard and play all my metallica and hair metal with it through a marshall combo that I've had for years now. Sounds massive! I have an old boss GT-8 effects processor that I bought new right when they came out way back and it does EVERYTHING, from shimmery chorus for 80's leads, overdrive/distortion, reverb, delay and pre delay, vibrato, tremolo, leslie rotary speaker simulation, univibe, The whole nine yards. I currently have my sights set on a fender american professional ii stratocaster that I can't get off my mind the last few months. He's a good sales person. Not easy to sell amps on a you tube demo, when quite honestly they ALL sound the same. Yet he has to present the enthusiasm that they are somehow different and the next best thing.

    Why use a distortion pedal? The amp does a fantastic job of distortion on its own.

    Good amp, but in my opinion for cleans, the CR Crush Pro amps are better have more clarity, but also depends on the guitar your playing..

    The problem with most amps is that they can do modern sounds/ post grunge sounds WAAAAY to easily but are impossible to get that classic brown or plexi sound. It seems like this orange “valve killer” suffers from the same issue. Ill have to try it out and see if it sounds as bad at getting a brown sound in person

    • @FPSBird
      @FPSBird ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Why would you want to sound like something that has already been done to death, if you want a plexi sound get a marshall.

    • @AudaciousAce1989
      @AudaciousAce1989 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In a world where mostly everyone is doing things similar to what Ola Englund is doing, I believe its fair to say that these thrash and death metal type demos and reviews are even more done to death@@FPSBird

    Not mid pokey like a Marshall?
    I'd say orange have even more mids than a Marshall

    • @mrcoatsworth429
      @mrcoatsworth429 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Orange amps have more low mids than Marshalls, in my experience. Marshalls sit more in the high mid region (1-5kHz). I think that's what he means. That spanky tone.
      Guitar tone as a whole is almost entirely mids.

    • @timbuk1126
      @timbuk1126 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2
